Hi! I'm Tracy! I specialize in working with adults who experience anxiety and depression. When you are feeling anxious, it often means that you are spending too much time in the future going down rabbit holes and playing the What If game. When you are feeling depressed, it often means you are spending too much time in the past filled with regret and grief. I am here to help with all of that.

You aren’t quite where you thought you would be in life. Whether comparing yourself to others, experiencing a change in financial, mental or physical health, or pain and suffering in general, you are hesitant to make a change. Overall, you are feeling stressed, overwhelmed, or burnt out. Daily, it is hard to overcome the intrusive or negative thoughts and feelings. If experiencing a life transition, you feel alone or vulnerable to what are the right next steps. If in a relationship, maybe you find it challenging to talk about and it is starting to impact your relationship. You are exhausted, vulnerable, and ready for a change.

While anxiety is a natural part of our human experience, chronic experiences of worry, perfectionism, panic, intrusive/unwanted thoughts & compulsions are not. I offer proven stress and anxiety management techniques to help you find relief from your symptoms while helping you develop a new set of coping skills. I commend you for reaching out to the possibilities therapy may offer. Change begins in this moment. Life can feel unmanageable. We experience the joys and challenges of relationships. The relationship may be with ourselves: inner struggles, uncertain goals, questioned values, addictive tendencies and confusion as to why we "do what we do". The relationship may be with another. The relationship may call upon us to clarify our expectations, to establish personal boundaries, to develop flexibility, to reflect on co-dependence, to improve our communication style and to open ourselves to change.

For anxiety, I'll help you face worries gradually to set you up for success. Your accomplishments are mine too. Since emotional issues often impact relationships, I offer family sessions to increase family cohesiveness.

Therapy reduces suffering and creates possibility for healthy changes. It is one of the best investments that you can make as you gain awareness and learn about problematic patterns. Everyone is at their own change-readiness level and I will support you where you are at. I am familiar with most psychological issues or relationship concerns, as I have worked in numerous settings and generally I have said "Yes!" to everyone along the way.

Hoarding Therapists

What is the most effective treatment for hoarding?

Cognitive behavior therapy (CBT) has been well-studied in the treatment of hoarding. This type of therapy includes changing beliefs surrounding possessions, as well as learning how to discard items and reduce acquisitions. The hoarder may also gain much-needed organizational skills. Another useful therapy may be compassion-focused therapy, which can address emotion regulation and negative self-perception.

How long does therapy for hoarding take?

Although treatment can vary, most people demonstrate improvement after 23 sessions, with some showing improvement after just a few sessions. Researchers have developed a 26-session cognitive behavioral program. People who hoard may need “maintenance” sessions over the years if the problem arises repeatedly.

Are there medications for hoarding?

The more commonly-prescribed medications for hoarding are including antidepressants, including selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs), and serotonin-norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors (SNRIs). This can include drugs such as venlafaxine and paroxetine. And because hoarding disorder is related to obsessive-compulsive disorder, medications for OCD, such as clomipramine, may be effective for hoarding as well.

Can hoarding come back after treatment?

Hoarding is a chronic disorder and it can last throughout an individual’s lifetime. Regularly checking in with a psychotherapist can help manage symptoms long-term. A good therapist will help the person learn needed skills including decision-making, organization, and stress reduction. The patient will gain a better perspective and the need to cling to useless items will lessen.
