I support people who tend to put pressure on themselves, whether they’re high achievers, athletes, perfectionists, people pleasers, deep feelers or simply trying to navigate the stress of life's challenges. My clients struggle with social anxiety, loneliness, or symptoms of depression, often while appearing like they’re “doing fine” on the outside. Together, we work on managing stress, building confidence, developing healthy coping skills, and understanding the emotional weight that comes with high expectations.

I enjoy working with reflective, curious, motivated individuals navigating relationship difficulties, stress, anxiety, and general life challenges. Despite our best abilities, sometimes life gets complicated and we can’t figure out how to move forward. Whether it is difficulties with your partner or feeling stuck in life, unsure and dissatisfied, it can be downright painful. My goal is to assist you in processing your experiences and building upon your strengths to achieve the growth and insights you are looking for. I believe we all have the capacity to reach our full potentials, sometimes we just need a helping hand along the way.

Clients often tell me they leave sessions feeling better because they finally have an understanding of what is happening inside of them and how to best move forward with the different obstacles they are facing. They essentially say, they feel “unstuck.” I love working with teens and adults. I aim to guide individuals in exploring their internal system, comprised of different parts that influence their thoughts, emotions, and behaviours. Have you ever said, “Well, a part of me thinks this, but another part thinks that?” It’s true that often we can see several sides to an issue.

I practice client-centered therapy and integrate different therapy modalities within my work with clients, dependent on needs and goals. My therapy style is collaborative, trauma informed, and culturally responsive and my role as a therapist is to partner with you to help you meet your goals. I understand the unique challenges that BIPOC individuals face and recognize the impacts of individual, generational, and racial trauma on one’s overall health. Breaking generational cycles, boundary setting, emotion regulation, navigating grief, and managing anxiety amidst unknowns are just some of the issues I support my clients with.

I’ve always been drawn to understanding people’s stories and helping them navigate life’s challenges. My goal is to create a space where clients feel truly seen and supported. I’m passionate about helping individuals recognize their own strengths, build resilience, and feel empowered in their journey. Ensuring that individuals feel heard and understood is a core principle of effective therapy. This involves creating a safe, nonjudgmental space, using reflective listening, and applying evidence based approaches to accurately understand and respond to each person’s experiences.

Counseling is my dream job. It’s sacred to me to be able to sit with someone in their pain while they share their story and allow me to help them sift through the hard stuff of life. I love approaching all people with openness and non-judgement, creating a safe space by listening with compassion and care, and applying all my skills and training to help them reach their goals. (And I love to do it with a sense of humor.) I have been practicing since 2016 and work with children (ages 4+), teens, individuals, and couples of diverse ethnicities, religions, orientations, genders and backgrounds.

FAQ - Therapist Gender
Does it matter what gender my therapist is?
In general, there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or because they feel more comfortable with a therapist of their own gender due to shared life experiences or perspectives. Considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender may matter or improve their therapeutic experience. The most important consideration is that a client is able to build a trusting relationship with their therapist.

Should I see a female therapist?
Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist. For women, this could be because they believe that they will be able to better connect with a woman, and that a female therapist will be able to relate to their specific challenges and personal issues. It may be particularly beneficial for women to see a female therapist, for example, for gender-specific issues, such as sexism in the workplace, relationship issues, and gender roles. The most important factor in therapy is the client-therapist connection, and a therapist's gender as well as many other factors may play an important role in this.

Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?
Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?
It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
