Many of the people I work with feel overwhelmed by anxiety, stress, or depression and may be struggling with relationship challenges, boundaries, or life transitions. They often find themselves worrying constantly, feeling emotionally drained, or taking on too much responsibility for others. In therapy, we slow things down and create space to understand what’s happening beneath the surface. Together we work to build insight, develop practical coping tools, and create healthier ways of responding to emotions, stress, and relationships.

I work a lot with folks struggling with anxiety, depression, family dynamics, and self-esteem/ identity.
Navigating life's challenges can be difficult, but getting the support and care you deserve shouldn't. My training in DBT, Motivational Interviewing, phase I Brain-spotting, and systems thinking gives me a unique vantage point where we can address holistic healing.

I believe healing happens in the space between shadow and light. Many of us carry untold stories, unspoken griefs, and fractured parts of self that long to be seen. My work as a therapist is to help you find language for what feels ineffable, to hold paradox without judgment, and to accompany you on the path from pain into possibility. Clients often describe me as both deeply attuned and unafraid to step into hard places with them. I see therapy as a sacred container — one where we can weave together resilience, grief, identity, and hope in ways that honor both your wounds and your wisdom.

My style as a therapist is both affirmative and challenging. I seek to support and understand you so that we may together identify the obstacles that keep you from living a more fulfilling and creative life. Therapy often involves the following processes: Changing reactive patterns of behavior, like compulsive eating or the destructive use of anger. Learning about your "filters," which are habitual ways of interpreting life events that stem from your unique conditioning. Developing skills to modulate uncomfortable feelings, such as anxiety or sadness. Strengthening your core sense of self and values.

I specialize in working with adults from complex family backgrounds who grew up feeling that boundaries were scary or not allowed.
You want your relationships to feel reciprocal and authentic, but find yourself feeling drained and resentful or afraid to set boundaries. You worry others only value what you do for them and not who you are. You're ready for change, but your not sure what steps to take. Trying to be what others want and need while neglecting our own needs can lead to feelings of anxiety and insecurity. Together, we will explore how your experiences, emotions, and perspectives can be sources of clarity and strength that help you feel more anchored and secure within yourself and in your relationships.

“I am not what has happened to me, I am what I choose to become.” - Carl Jung. This quote is a foundational belief of my therapeutic process and approach. Meaning making is the process of reclaiming your life, your body, and your experiences to create the life that you want and deserve. Whether this is your first time in therapy or returning, you are so brave to take this first step of honoring and caring for yourself. I believe that each person is an expert of their own life experience and that behavior makes sense in context.

In providing treatment I pull from a variety of modalities in order to tailor the experience to the individual, couple, family, or group that I am working with.
I am an LCSW with 30 years of experience in mental health. During that time I have been everything from an “Overnight/ Stay-awake” in residential facilities, a crisis intervention worker performing suicide and homicide evaluations, to being a Clinical Director of a mental health program for a large company. A couple things that have remained consistent throughout this time has been a major desire to help others and a gift for building rapport and strong working relationships with people of all ages and backgrounds.

Family Therapy Therapists
What do family therapists do?
A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.

How long does therapy for families take to work?
Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.

How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?
You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.

Is therapy for families effective?
Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
