Mental health challenges are due to the aftereffects of traumatic experiences. Trauma can place a strain on your family, work, relationships, and even cause issues with self-worth. I specialize in trauma therapy along with treating personality disorders, depression, anxiety, ADHD, and addiction. All these disorders can look different from person to person, and that is where our therapeutic journey of empowerment and self-exploration begins. I concentrate on creating a safe space of growth and self-discovery through unconditional positive regard, emotional regulation, and guided activities.

I have been in private practice for 40 years, providing psychoanalysis and psychoanalytic psychotherapy. Each person is unique and I strive to listen carefully to you and your life history. I create a treatment plan that is unique to you. My approach addresses the underlying, mostly unconscious beliefs, emotions, and expectations that create problems in life. This approach is appropriate for many different issues as it addresses the deep causes of difficulties. The changes you make in psychoanalytic psychotherapy are deep and enduring and eliminates the need for symptoms as coping strategies.

You're queer, you're "weird," you knew you were different before we had the term "nuero-divergent." You're genderqueer, you're a witch, you're creative, you're an activist. This world doesn't fit you, and that's really the problem. But, you were told that you needed to change to fit this world. You're not the problem and neither is the way you're built. But, you hold shame from a life-time of being told you are the problem and need to be different. The lack of attunment and understanding from those around you has been isolating and led to depression and anxiety.

As a licensed MFT, I provide both short-term and long-term psychotherapy in private practice. My practice serves the Greater Sacramento Valley region where I offer both in-person and online therapy via video appointments to California residents. I use a clinical structure but eclectic style in treatment approach and believe there is not a one-size-fits-all method that works for everyone. I believe people enter therapy at different stages of life and look to gain practical skills within a safe relationship.

Hello, my name is Nancy Rarick, license number is 35274. I have been a licensed therapist for 30 years. I prefer client-centered therapy but utilize many other modalities which benefit my client the most. Currently, I only have a telemedicine practice which enables me to see clients throughout California. My approach to therapy varies based on the needs of my client. I use cognitive behavioral therapy, focused solution therapy, and am trained in EMDR and DBT. Because I am a registered nurse, I am passionate about health and wellness and feel physical well-being is synergistic with good mental health.

The clients i work with include individuals, couples, and families that are experiencing depression, PTSD, communication issues, negative self image, and low self worth. Modalities may include EMDR, CBT, Psychodynamic, Client-Centered, DBT and others as appropriate.

As a group, we have served in Sacramento since 2007, offering various counseling services, groups, classes, and workshops. We practice from an ecosystemic perspective, an interconnected whole. As individuals living in the wider world we must interact with each other, attending to the health of our inner life and the health of our personal and public relationships. We must learn how to balance inner and outer peace with inner and outer freedom. As an ecosystem we function as a unit of very dynamic and complex symbiotic relationships. Our health depends on ensuring balance within ourselves and balance in our communities.
