Wherever you may be in life, my goal is to provide you with a safe, non-judgmental, and inclusive space to explore, learn, process, heal, and thrive. I'll help you accept yourself as you are. We'll clarify your goals and values and look toward a new perspective and healthy narrative, so you can nurture the feelings that are aligned with your well-being and not those that keep you stuck. With commitment and focus, you'll get to a deeper sense of self-compassion and fulfillment.

I primarily use Narrative Therapy, DBT, and CBT.
You're here because something isn't working and you're finally ready to face it. Maybe it's a relationship that's falling apart, a painful betrayal, difficulties with food and feeling comfortable in your body, or a growing sense that you've lost yourself. You've likely already done a lot of thinking (and maybe some therapy), but you need more than just insight—you want change. My clients are thoughtful, resilient, but often at a crossroads. They're looking for clarity, direction, and a therapist who won’t just listen, but help them figure out what’s really going on and how to move forward.

I am passionate about working with people who are feeling lost within themselves. Navigating through life’s challenges can be increasingly difficult when you feel a loss of connection to who you are at your core. Emotions can be confusing, leaving people feeling helpless, stuck, and alone. I am determined to collaborate and help guide you through understanding the beauty of being a complex person with the ability to feel in control and powerful in the face of adversity.

I believe that everyone has the potential to realize the life they imagined for themselves. As a licensed marriage and family therapist, I provide a safe and trusting environment where you can explore and process the ambivalence that often hinders you from realizing your ideal self and relationships. I use an eclectic approach to therapy starting with the person-centered (a warm, supportive therapeutic environment with genuineness and empathy), so I can really get to know my clients. If appropriate, we can use cognitive-behavioral techniques to actively work on changing unwanted behaviors.

When each moment is a battle to stay afloat, the future may seem bleak. When you are depressed and anxious and your thoughts tell you these feelings are never going to end, you need to know this is a distortion that is completely untrue. These feelings of hopelessness and helplessness are common with depression. Imagine getting through this dark period and transitioning into time where you not only feel better, but you feel even better than before.

I am passionate about helping people and learning about their lives. I believe that we are the authors of our own story and it is up to us to bring about change; however, sometimes we need a little guidance to get to where we want to get and overcome struggles that may seem out of our control. I believe that it is our responsibility to work towards our goals and heal from the things that continue to hurt us. I enjoy working with individuals of all ages, from all cultural backgrounds.

Hi there, I'm Victoria! Many people tell me that they have tried a lot of therapists before finding me. I believe this is because, in addition to being warm, friendly, and personable is readily apparent to clients that I bring a wealth of both personal and professional experience and that I "walk the walk." Clients feel seen, held, and understood, and this provides a safe and nurturing space in which clients can uncover and ultimately heal.

As a licensed MFT, I provide both short-term and long-term psychotherapy in private practice. My practice serves the Greater Sacramento Valley region where I offer both in-person and online therapy via video appointments to California residents. I use a clinical structure but eclectic style in treatment approach and believe there is not a one-size-fits-all method that works for everyone. I believe people enter therapy at different stages of life and look to gain practical skills within a safe relationship.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT) Therapists
Who is DBT for?
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is designed for people who experience extreme emotional suffering because they lack the skills of emotion regulation and distress tolerance. The basic affliction can underlie a wide range of conditions, from borderline and other personality disorders to PTSD and treatment-resistant anxiety and depression. The therapy is helpful to those whose emotional reactivity is so intense it is disruptive to everyday functioning and leads to frequent crises.

Why do people need DBT?
The ability to regulate emotions is a core psychological skill that enables people to function in life and pay attention to the world outside themselves; it is consistently associated with well-being. DBT is designed to help people learn how to manage and regulate their emotions. Originally developed to treat people with borderline personality disorder whose extreme emotional suffering led to self-harming behavior and suicide attempts, the therapy is now applied to other conditions involving emotion dysregulation, particularly when other treatments have failed.

What happens in DBT?
Individuals meet weekly with their therapist to discuss their experiences relating to moods, behavior, and skills. Using checklists they maintain, they review emotional experiences and positive practices they engage in. The diaries help individuals discern what led up to a specific problem encountered, this is followed by discussion of the consequences of their actions. In addition, individuals may meet in class-like small groups to learn skills such as mindfulness, emotion regulation and distress tolerance.

How long does DBT last?
Because it is intended to establish long-lasting behavioral change among those with persistent problems, DBT is designed to last six months to a year. DBT includes both weekly sessions of individual therapy and weekly skills-training sessions conducted in small groups. Studies of DBT have documented improvement within a year of treatment, particularly in controlling self-harmful behavior; nevertheless, individuals may require therapy for several years.
