I enjoy working with individuals, adolescents, couples, and families.
I utilize various therapeutic approaches but mainly draw upon Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy allows us to identify faulty/unhelpful ways of thinking, learning patterns/unhelpful behavior and helps clients create and utilize positive coping skills.

I also particularly enjoy working with parents and college/graduate students around complex topics related to life transitions, decision making, stress management, relationship dynamics and self identity.
Women are faced with many unique challenges, which may lead us to feeling anxious, overwhelmed, lonely, lost or stuck. I offer a compassionate, strength based, empowering approach to enhancing self awareness and coping strategies. My personal and professional experiences with infertility and pregnancy loss have given me a unique understanding of the emotional, physical, and financial toll it takes.

When was the last time you felt deep pleasure, connection or acceptance within yourself or a relationship?
Our methodologies include, systems theory, EFT, gottman couples work, EMDR, Somatic based interventions, sensory integration and regulation work, narrative, TF-CBT, meditation and grounding, attachment oriented approaches and couples interventions. We've learned that sometimes the traditional mindset or clinical approach doesn't work. So we rewrite it.

I offer individual sessions, couples counseling, family counseling, substance abuse evaluations for family and legal courts, and intervention services.
Have you or a loved one struggled with alcohol or drug dependency? Allow me to help you on your journey to recovery. At Life Steps Consulting, we know that life is full of different transitions, which can be broken down into a series of steps. When you are struggling with substance abuse, movement through the transitional steps halts, causing you to fall into unhealthy life cycles, which impact your career goals, relationships, physical and mental health. I can help you get back on track. I not only have studied the disease of alcohol and drug addiction, but I have been there and I know how you feel.

Relationship problems with partners, family members, or others.
I find the best-suited therapy to meet your unique needs, drawing on a mix of tools---cognitive behavioral, solution-focused, and insight-oriented techniques, as well as stress management and mindfulness. Collaboration and empathy mark my approach, but that doesn't mean I won't challenge you. I will.

My training includes Ketamine-Assisted Therapy, EMDR, MAPS-MDMA Therapy, Buddhist Chaplaincy, Compassionate Inquiry, IFS, and Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy.
You are already whole, complete, and enough—exactly as you are, even in the midst of stress and difficulty. Healing isn’t about fixing yourself; it’s about recognizing and inhabiting your inherent wholeness. The adaptive strategies that once helped you survive early relational wounds may now keep you stuck in patterns that limit deep, authentic connection, leaving you feeling isolated in your pain. But transformation is possible. It begins with presence, curiosity, and kindness toward the most vulnerable parts of yourself.

I have years of experience helping individuals, couples and families to feel less alone by providing them with a safe, sensitive and non-judgmental space to unload their burdens, reduce feelings of isolation, restore hope and increase their personal functioning.
My areas of expertise include: relationship counseling for individuals and couples, grief, loss, bereavement (anticipatory or historical), trauma, disability, anxiety and depression. I believe our most important relationship is our relationship with ourselves. Learning how to 'befriend ourselves' is essential & supports all other relationships we engage in.

Couples Counseling Therapists

Does couples counseling work?

Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.

When should a couple seek counseling?

Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.

How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?

The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.

How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?

The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
