If your
child
struggles with peers, attention, school, or mood/ anxiety, I can provide a comprehensive neuropsychological assessment to help you learn what is going on and what next steps to take. This assessment answers questions related to concerns for ADHD, autism, learning disabilities, or medical conditions. The goal is to figure out how to best support your
child
! In some cases, your
child
may already have an IEP or 504, but you feel they are not getting all the support they need or you do not understand the results. In these cases, a comprehensive evaluation may help.

I have extensive experience in working with young
children
.
Ofrezco terapia Cristiana tambien.

For
children
, play and art are a vital part of the therapy process.
The search for a therapist often begins at the point when the pain and struggle outweigh the capacity to cope on your own. Whether the search for a therapist is for yourself or your
child
, to work on a specific challenge or to work through years of challenges, finding relief from the pain and struggle and a path for growth is often the end goal. My intention is to function as a compassionate guide to find the answers within you, perhaps buried under stress and trauma responses which allowed you to survive to this point in your journey.

You can have a more satisfying relationship with your
child
, feel less like a failure as a parent, and look forward to school conferences.
Something’s wrong, but you can’t put your finger on it. Or maybe you know what’s wrong, but don’t know what to do about it. Your
child
is acting out at school, at home, or with others, they are reactive or do socially inappropriate things, maybe they’re even avoidant or acting depressed. The bottom line is you’re worried, but maybe you’re also concerned that you’re overthinking it or that it’s just “how they are” and there’s nothing you can do. The truth is that these problems can be a sign of trauma, anxiety, or depression in
children
and they can be improved or addressed all together with the right kind of help.

I specialize in working with anxiety in
children
, teens, and adults and with Highly Sensitive People (HSPs).
Do you have a hard time putting yourself first? Do you find yourself walking on eggshells in your relationships? Are you a worrier? Do those worries and negative thoughts interfere constantly with your daily life? Do you get told you’re “too sensitive” or that you need to “toughen up”? You may feel like your brain never stops, even waking up in the middle of the night with a million thoughts in your head. You might find yourself replaying situations from yesterday or from 10 years ago obsessing about what went wrong. You often get stuck in a never-ending loop of anxiety and guilt. It’s exhausting, frustrating, and overwhelming!

I am a trained facilitator of Parent Project, a comprehensive parenting class for parents of
children
ages 11-17.
Who am I? I've been married for 20+ years. My wife and I have a teenage son. I'm personable, friendly and like to laugh. I talk and ask questions. I won't sit silently and wait for you to talk. I won't say, "How does that make you feel?" I've been told that I'm a "normal guy." Who are you? Someone who wants to feel better? Or wants your teenager to talk to someone? Or wants to be happier and more secure in your committed relationship? Let's keep it simple and work together to find solutions.

I see
children
, individuals, groups and families.
The idea that one learns by experiencing and is truly capable of making the necessary shifts in their lives is a mantra I live by. When one person mirrors another with gentle listening, others are able to clearly see what no longer works in their lives. Ingrained habits coming from difficult childhoods could be the very source of havoc, that with conscious awareness, can shift. Perhaps the way one communicates is keeping love from flowing in your life. Maybe parenting a
child
who reminds you of yourself means confronting yourself on a deeply personal level. Or perhaps it is simply a life transition that is simply too much.

Do I need to attend therapy with my child?
Parents are an integral part of a child’s therapy, but the specifics of their involvement vary. If your child is young, you may attend most or all sessions; if your child is older, you may attend a few sessions or none; sometimes a therapist may ask you to have a session on your own. Whatever the arrangement, you should expect to work collaboratively with the therapist, your child, and your family members to take steps to help support your child.
How long are sessions with child therapists?
Children’s therapy sessions can last 30 minutes, 45 minutes, or 60 minutes. The length of the session may depend on your child’s age and the type of therapy practiced. You can discuss this with therapists you consult and the one you ultimately move forward with.
How do I get a child to agree to seek therapy?
The best approach is to have an open-ended conversation with your child about how they’re doing and what they might be struggling with. When you raise therapy, discuss the concept in an age-appropriate way, for example explaining that a therapist’s job is to help kids handle their hard or uncomfortable feelings. Frame therapy positively, as an opportunity to explore and build emotional skills—it’s an important tool in the toolbox to help kids feel their best.
How can I tell if a therapist is a good fit for my child?
A child needs to feel comfortable opening up about their thoughts and feelings, so if your child feels a sense of comfort, ease, and trust with their therapist, that’s a great sign. In addition, a therapist is a good fit for your child if the two can communicate well together; a clinician should be able to communicate clearly, effectively, and in an age-appropriate manner.
