Shame, anxiety, overwhelming stress and relationship difficulties can disrupt our ability to live a mindful and conscious life. Working with adults and adolescents to promote acceptance, empathy and compassion is my primary interest and the approach I take in therapy. I also have experience and a passion for working with clients who are struggling with Eating Disorders and body image issues. I feel that the energy between therapist and client is the first step in healing emotional wounds and promoting positive changes.

You'll find that I'm not your typical patches-on-the-sleeves, "tell me about your mother" style therapist. After a career as a first responder, I have come in contact with a great many mental health challenges. My clients will find I am very empathetic while at the same time no-nonsense and to the point. Together, we'll explore what your challenges have been historically and find new ways to approach the life (and ultimately, happiness) for which you're looking.

At this moment you feel lost, disconnected from your path/career, and unsure how to find self-fulfillment while experiencing intense expectations of others. You know you need help and don't know where to turn. Explaining how lost you feel to others will make you more vulnerable than you wish to feel. You feel alone and know that something has to change. The stress of school and/or work is insurmountable, and sharing these feelings with friends and family is impossible. Your stress causes intense pressure and anxiety which is affecting every aspect of your life.

Life is complicated! And we are not meant to go it alone. I bring a unique, practical approach to problem solving, but my style is anchored in warmth, humor, optimism, and a fierce commitment to do the best by my clients. One of my greatest strengths is seeing the strengths in others and helping them to likewise see those qualities in themselves. It would be my privilege to work with you and help you to discover all the good you have to offer to this world, and also help you work through whatever challenges or struggles you are currently facing. Let's connect!

and I support those dealing with or effected by cancer/major illness.
Figuring out what life should look like after a loss can be one of life's most complex and confusing emotional journeys. Sometimes you feel too tired to keep trying. It can be discouraging to keep going and wanting to progress towards relief. No matter the challenge (anxiety and/or depression included), carrying on day to day can be overwhelming, not to mention- extremely exhausting. It is easy for joy and happiness to disappear when surviving becomes our necessary focus. It is also difficult to manage long term when you feel minimal progress has happened. You deserve the space to figure out how life will improve.

Therapy is a powerful way to care for ourselves—but it doesn’t look the same for everyone. It should be flexible and responsive to your unique situation. Sometimes it’s brief and solution-focused; other times, it’s a longer journey to work through deeper, long-standing challenges. In my office, you’ll find space for both. (Updated 3/26)

I focus on the underlining structure that contributes to a person's symptoms of anxiety and / or depression. During my 30 years as a therapist I have found that once an unworkable pattern is revealed and the emotions connected to that are expressed, your authentic self is more available. As the internal conflicts fade; relationships become more fulfilling and the meaning and purpose of your true nature becomes evident. I assist each person to create a plan that reflects their values and unique contributions in order to achieve that goal.
