Welcome to my practice. I have about 15 years of clinical experience and have been featured on NBC/KCAL/HLN as an expert psychologist. I work primarily with men who have hit “rock bottom” and would like help getting up. These men are often in crisis when we first meet. The issues I address are typically related to unhealthy sexual behaviors, infidelity , financial recklessness, gambling, drugs/alcohol, dishonesty/lying, and relational conflicts. My therapy approach is a combination of psychoanalytic, cognitive-behavioral, and the 12-Step recovery model. I also share insight from my own painful but redemptive recovery journey.

Life can be confusing and messy, and relationships are no exception! We exist in many relationships throughout our life. Whether it is the relationship you have with yourself, your partner, your family or anywhere in between. If we exist in them all the time how is it they get so off track at times? Grief, loss, anxiety, heartache, pain, betrayal , anger, infidelity , loss of trust, communication error, cyclical patterns, life changes, the list seems to be endless.. You desire healthy, loving relationships with yourself and others and want to bring reconciliation and healing so you may move closer to living the life you want.

I specialize in relationships: couples therapy for better communication and emotional connection, sex therapy for deeper intimate connection, high conflict disagreements, and healing from infidelity .
After years of praying for God to lead you to your partner, you have finally found the love of your life. And while you are grateful for them, you are also feeling confused or discouraged because your relationship is not what you expected it to be. The good news is, you don’t need to have it all figured out in order to feel relief from struggles in your relationship. I support Christian couples and individuals who are deeply connected to their faith and would like to incorporate their beliefs into counseling. Who am I? I've been married for 20+ years. My wife and I have a teenage son. I'm personable, friendly and like to laugh. I talk and ask questions. I won't sit silently and wait for you to talk. I won't say, "How does that make you feel?" I've been told that I'm a "normal guy." Who are you? Someone who wants to feel better? Or wants your teenager to talk to someone? Or wants to be happier and more secure in your committed relationship? Let's keep it simple and work together to find solutions.

Infidelity Therapists

How does therapy for infidelity work?

A skilled infidelity therapist will provide a safe space for clients to communicate their feelings and concerns. The goal is to be completely honest about what led to the cheating and how it has affected the entire family to prevent it from recurring in the future. The therapist will help the clients work on rebuilding mutual trust and respect and developing better communication and conflict-resolution skills. If the goal is to remain a couple, clients will learn the “danger signs” for their specific relationship, and they will make a renewed commitment to be faithful.

How long does therapy for infidelity take?

Recovery from infidelity can take time, and it can vary from person to person. Generally, a therapist will want to see the clients at least once a week for around six months. Then the sessions can be arranged as needed, depending on the clients’ individual needs. While therapy may end or shift to an as-needed basis, it can take up to two years or more for some clients to fully recover from infidelity.

How does therapy help the partner who was cheated on?

When a client discovers their partner’s infidelity, their trust in the relationship and in the life they had together may be shattered. They often experience mental health symptoms, such as anxiety, depression, grief, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). They don’t always want to stay in the relationship; they may feel ambivalent or may even want to leave. Therapy gives these clients a safe and healthy way to communicate all of their complicated emotions and concerns.

How does therapy help the partner who committed infidelity?

Infidelity often occurs when one or both partners’ emotional needs are not being met in the relationship. Therapy can help this client understand why they cheated and figure out how to address those unmet needs without resorting to infidelity in the future. This can lessen (but not entirely eliminate) the risk of repeated infidelity. Clients who cheat may also feel intense guilt about deceiving their partners, a sentiment that they can work through in therapy.
