I work with a variety of issues including sexual abuse, divorce, PTSD,
couples
relations, grief and loss, parenting skill development, effective communication, spiritual counseling, life coaching and eating disorders.
I believe the answers we are searching for are found within ourselves. It may take the support and trust of a skillful therapist in feeling safe in revealing our true selves and bringing purpose and meaning to our lives. By uncovering the blocks and developing the courage to shine a light on our authentic self, you discover the self you have been seeking. I'll support you in developing a plan that best serves your goals towards a path of self discovery and empowerment. I feel personal growth is connected to mind, body and spirit.

I work through building a collaborative, non-judgmental, therapeutic
relationship
based on acceptance, safety, equality, and honesty.
Life is a beautiful gift full of contrast, challenges, love and abundance. It provides the opportunities to learn and grow. We can also get lost in the challenges that can cause us to disconnect form our guidance system and become reactive to our current experience. Our individuality can get lost and we tend to identify ourselves by our mistakes, failures, or labels; these things do not define us. I work with individuals,
couples
, teens and adolescents who want or need guidance and support in today's changing world.

I firmly believe in building a strong
relationship
with each client by offering a safe, comfortable environment, and going at your pace.
My work revolves around one's strengths. Every client has strengths although it may seem difficult to identify them at times. Being strength based helps to increase self motivation for each client. Much of my therapy includes helping to challenge various thought distortions and beliefs. Many times life can take us on an unexpected path and we need support to get back to where we want to be. This can be done in a variety of ways which is why I take a multidimensional approach to treatment.

We all seek connection, a sense of belonging, and also we seek to have a sense of purpose and value. When we find ourselves in relationships where we feel a lack of connection or a sense of not being valued by our
partner
we tend to lose vitality and/or security. During these moments we can feel like we have failed.

Couples Counseling Therapists
Does couples counseling work?
Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.
When should a couple seek counseling?
Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.
How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?
The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.
How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?
The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
