People who come to me for help often report feeling drastically different and more in-control of their daily lives after just a few sessions. My approach brings about lasting change and empowers my patients to make decisions that are in their own best interest. In each meeting, we will work collaboratively to establish a path toward clearly-defined goals. If you often find yourself reacting to a situation in an unseemly manner, then wonder "Why did I just do that?" I believe you have the answer, and I can help you find it. See my website to get to know me better, plus view my blog, TEDx Talk, and sign up for my monthly newsletter!

I work with clients who have social anxiety, shyness, and feel awkward and out of place. They want to feel better about themselves and their circumstances. They may have been through a difficult childhood and trauma and abuse. They are motivated to get better and want to speak to someone who is nonjudgmental and compassionate. Clients have opened up to me about their deepest traumas and secrets that they have not shared with anyone else. I feel honored to be part of my client's journey and help them to find solutions. I have a strong client centered approach blended with a CBT intervention based approach.

Relationship difficulties can preoccupy one's life. My clients find themselves stuck in repetitive negative communication patterns, they have experienced a recent injury to their emotional bond or fear that the trust in their partner has been broken. Sometimes they repeatedly reach out for emotional connection with their partner, only to end up in the same old disconnecting cycle that leaves them feeling alone and demoralized. Often, they appear like they have it all together yet feel isolated and unsure how to find the right kind of help.

Everyone has a story. Some stories are happy and times of celebration, while others are disappointing and filled with grief. How is life defining you so far? We are intended to live life to our fullest. I believe therapy can be a positive and enriching experience for anyone. Are you looking for a therapist who does more than just listen? I strive to understand; and to help you understand. I help clients stay focused on what they want MORE of in their lives. We also pay attention to what obstacles and maladaptive coping mechanisms are at play. While it is essential to learn to be present with what is currently happening, our work will sometimes reach to heal the past. This gives you the freedom and inner spaciousness to reach toward a better future.

During our lives we all need a place where we feel safe, comfortable, and supported to help us give direction to the lives we aspire to. Sometimes that is realizing that we need to seek help from a third-party, non-judgmental professional to help build the tools and confidence to get there. If you need help making changes in your life, big or small, this can be a great place to start. We will work on what you want to feel more of and what you want to feel less of.

The idea that one learns by experiencing and is truly capable of making the necessary shifts in their lives is a mantra I live by. When one person mirrors another with gentle listening, others are able to clearly see what no longer works in their lives. Ingrained habits coming from difficult childhoods could be the very source of havoc, that with conscious awareness, can shift. Perhaps the way one communicates is keeping love from flowing in your life. Maybe parenting a child who reminds you of yourself means confronting yourself on a deeply personal level. Or perhaps it is simply a life transition that is simply too much.

Living life means dealing with challenging times. The good thing is that you don't have to face these challenging times alone. Everyone can use a supportive ear from time to time. Together we can cultivate a better tomorrow utilizing skills and techniques learned through therapy. Managing emotions is a skill just like learning to read or knowing how to do math. You just have to start by taking the first step. Sometimes the smallest steps in the right direction end up being the biggest steps of your life.

Very few people know what is really going on in your life and just how stuck you feel. It has gotten to the point where you no longer recognize yourself and have no idea how you got here. Maybe you feel like everything in your life, including yourself is out of control or that getting out of bed takes all your energy before your day has even started. Maybe you are flooded with unwanted memories from the past and you have turned to drugs or alcohol to cope. You’re exhausted and know that life cannot continue like this anymore. You are looking for a change, and are searching for support. I can help!

My goal is to guide my clients to be their genuine selves, to feeling whole and complete. Helping my clients reach their fullest potential is the most rewarding feeling. The journey to being who we are rather than who others would like us to be, behaving in a manner that exemplifies self-love, self-worth, and confidence is a daily task that requires re-committing each day. The wounds of yesterday must be healed in order to move forward. I believe the client determines the direction and pace to which we accomplish this knowing all the while, self-discovery and actualization is never ending.

How can I find a therapist in Sacramento County?
Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Is online therapy a good option?
Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.
What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?
Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.
What type of therapist is right for me?
Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.
Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?
The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.
What type of therapy is right for me?
The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.
Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?
Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
