Starting therapy is difficult and scary; however, you do not have to do it yourself. I understand it is also vulnerable to share your stories with a stranger. Therapy is a space where you can feel safe being yourself. With sincerity, I strive to build that safe environment for you and work collaboratively to find yourself. I want to empower you to understand your thoughts and feelings. Working through your negative behavioral and thought patterns, we will identify how these currently affect your life. I will help you find solutions within yourself that you feel comfortable practicing and sustaining, using your natural strengths.

Our therapists have been trained in several modalities including Emotionally Focused Therapy, CBT, ACT and more trauma based approaches.
Many of us are shaped by our experiences and aren't fully aware of the effects these experiences have in our everyday lives and relationships. We question our feelings, our thoughts and our reactions. But, they all tell a story. Our approach to treatment is attachment-based and client-centered. The emphasis is placed on exploring your values, experiences and what is important to you. Sometimes speaking to family and friends just isn't enough. We can help guide you through the process of knowing yourself and being able to understand, accept and express your emotions.

I am also trained in EMDR (highly effective trauma therapy) and Emotionally Focused Therapy, which I use to support my overall approach.
Many of us appear to be functioning well in life, but in reality feel like imposters, often stressed and unsatisfied in our lives and relationships. I foster the discovery of genuine peace and fulfillment through "undoing aloneness," helping clients embrace their best and worst selves, and unearthing a more self-compassionate and authentic way of being. My clients are typically individuals, seeking treatment for anxiety, perfectionism, trauma, and a wide variety of relational issues.

I have advanced training in Emotionally Focused Therapy, an approach that helps you learn to speak in ways that are both compassionate toward your loved one and clear about your own needs and desires.
We all long to matter, to be seen, to feel connected. It’s a human need to belong, but misunderstandings and arguments can erode any relationship. Learning more about your repeating negative communication patterns can transmute the blame and distance into an understanding of how both your feelings and your partner's feelings make sense. You don’t have to keep trying to do it alone. Additionally, I work with Individuals using many of the same tools to improve their relationship with themselves and with others, creating a greater sense of well-being and connection in their lives.

Trauma Informed Therapies/Somatic Experiencing/Gottman Level 1/ Emotionally Focused Couples and Individual Therapy/Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy/Certified Life Coach/
Why can't you just listen? You just don't understand me! Despite your best efforts, it seems like you're always getting rejected or upsetting your loved ones. It's a battle that you shouldn't be fighting. You have the best of intentions, and don't want to cause pain but something always seems to go awry. The attempt to share how you feel ends up in a blow out, spiraling out of control. Trying to understand your loved ones results in disconnection. Peace, connection, warmth, love - these are the things you seek and miss the most. You're anxious to find a way to exist with others in an authentic way, but keep coming up short.

I have advance training in Emotionally Focused Therapy for both couples and individuals.
Do you find yourself disheartened by the quality of your relationships? Perhaps unable to find the words to express your deepest thoughts and/or needs. Maybe you feel stuck, even dissatisfied, hoping to move forward but the overwhelm of it all keeps you frozen. If this rings true, know that there is hope. There is a way off of the merry-go-round that keeps you in this tired loop. There is a future for you. It is possible to live fully and freely all whilst feeling connected.

Emotionally Focused Therapists

Who is emotionally focused therapy for?

Emotionally focused therapy (EFT) is for couples who are emotionally distressed, stuck in an unsatisfying relationship pattern or feeling deeply alienated. They may even believe the relationship is beyond repair. Very often, the partners display intense anger, fear, grief, loss of trust, or a sense of betrayal in the relationship. In addition, EFT is helpful to couples and individuals who have difficulty expressing emotions and those who have trouble regulating emotions.

Why do people need emotionally focused therapy?

People need emotionally focused therapy because the need for others is built into the brain, but the pressures of daily life can erode feelings of love, and couples often do not have the skills to find their way back to the comfort of each other. Instead, they may be stuck in repetitive patterns of anger, fear, grief, loss of trust, or a sense of betrayal. Emotionally focused therapy regards such strong negative feelings as expressions of protest over the loss of connection and turns them into pathways of reconnection.

What happens in emotionally focused therapy?

Over the course of eight to 20 weekly sessions, couples de-escalate their negative emotional reactivity to one another so that they can listen to each other and be responsive to each other’s needs. Then the deep emotional and physical bond is restored, giving partners a sense of comfort and security, which they can use to solve whatever problems come their way. The therapist plays an active role, helping partners understand how anger and withdrawal are actually misguided cries for connection.

What problems does emotionally focused therapy treat?

EFT is designed to help couples stuck in dysfunctional relationship patterns regain closeness and rebuild their relationship. Typically, such couples experience considerable distress, with partners feeling alienated and distrustful of one another, not certain their relationship can survive. EFT is also helpful to individuals experiencing attachment-related fears of loss; it helps them learn to use their fears as a way of eliciting the closeness they desire.
