While it's true heavy rain and dense fog can cloud our physical vision; environmental, behavioral and chemical stressors can cloud our mental visibility. I'm a specialist in
grief
and
loss
, with an approach I developed over years with hospice and based on current research about how people really grieve- not based on stages or
grief
being forever.
I offer support, reorganizing, and reimagining life for those coping with chronic illness, dementia, and losses of all kinds. If you need help getting through
grief
that's what I do. For the time being I am online, where I meet clients and lead
grief
and dementia groups. My
grief
groups are 8 weeks, focused on working through the
loss
, and getting you to your new life. The dementia group is the 3rd Saturday of each month at https://www.facebook.com/Riversidedementiasupport/- and it's free of charge. I approach life, and therapy looking for the joy while managing the tough times- not letting them manage life. Call to see me.

I am strongest working with social anxiety, struggles that come with neurodiversity, individuals who are interested in spiritual/ faith- based approaches, chronic illness, and processing
grief
and
loss
(no matter how big or small).
Hi, I am Danielle. Fun Facts: I am an only child, kind of. I come from an eclectic and blended family and understand the chaos and beauty that love can bring. I have personal experiences with chronic illness since a young age and can totally understand the phenomenon of people thinking "you don't look sick," when you definitely are. I am a huge animal lover, having experienced the joys and the pain that come with the
loss
of a furry friend. With all of my own experiences, I feel so honored and privileged that I have a job where I get to walk alongside others while journey through their ups and downs of this weird little life we get.

Often during a challenging time or life event, we may realize that the things that used to work to navigate stress, anger,

It can be overwhelming to find a therapist who is a good fit - made harder when you may already be overwhelmed by the very reason you are seeking therapy services in the first place! I know, I’ve been on the other side myself. As a clinician, I partner with you, meeting you where you are now, to learn what your goals are for therapy. It’s always an honor to get to know you and bear witness to your journey which I do in a curious, non-judgmental and compassionate way. The therapeutic process is a nuanced interplay of you being understood and heard, collaborative problem solving, and learning about yourself.

Grief Therapists
How long does therapy take for grief?
There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.
When should you seek therapy for grief?
Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.
Can grief be managed without therapy?
Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.
What happens if grief is left untreated?
Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
