Do you struggle with anxiety, depression ? Is it keeping you from doing the things that you love and functioning the way that you want to? Is it creeping up on you when you least expect? Or are life's struggles too hard to carry on your shoulders, too much to keep on going? At times, these issues are there and intended for us to process through, to overcome the challenges and know how to have coping skills and tools to battle them again in the future. Trauma is no different, and as it holds you back from doing the things you love, learn how to stop that cycle, and take control of it.

Life can be complicated, overwhelming and unpredictable at times. These pressures and demands can be chaotic and cause one to feel anxious, inadequate, depressed , or stuck. These very feelings can impact our functioning, relationships with others and how we view ourselves. While we cannot change the nature of things, we can change how we react. With practice, we can learn how to manage life’s challenges by developing resilience, and learning healthy coping strategies. Therapy is a gift to the self. When we develop a deeper understanding, we have the power to change, find our voice and not let life just happen.

Using various therapeutic models and evidenced based interventions I specialize in addressing issues related to anxiety, depression , trauma, grief/loss, family conflict, relational issues, behavioral issues with children/ teens, and various stressors that arise from having a marginalized identity (racial minority, LGBTQIA+, etc.
Sometimes we can start to feel overwhelmed by life. Various triggers such as identity stress, loss, life transitions, traumatic events, anxious feelings, and relational conflict can start to feel unbearable. This can make carrying on day to day activities very challenging. Whether or not you recognize these behaviors in yourself, your children, or your family as a collective, we can work collaboratively towards addressing your unique needs. You are not alone in this. Today you are one step closer to a more authentic you where you feel empowered and on a path to positive growth and well-being.

I believe therapy to be an approach that heals the soul. I encourage a caring and accepting environment in which the therapist-client relationship is a key aspect of the healing process. My ideal client is one who wishes to grow and heal through the process of personal exploration, skill development and commitment to their healing journey.I have experience treating individuals with emotional challenges such as depression , anxiety, panic, and relational issues through the use of short-term CBT and (long-term) insight oriented therapy like Existential and Psychodynamic therapy.

In a world full of labels, it can be easy for us to act as if Anxiety, Depression , Trauma, and Relationships issues define us, rather than being PART of us.
Channeling through life moments despite how troubling, traumatic or challenging they are requires some sort of "emotional grit." These experiences create responses and behaviors that are not healthy for us - anxiety, depression , impulsivity, anger, addiction etc. At times, these situations are out of our control and stem from our relationship experiences from childhood to now. There is room for growth despite what we have been through. We need Empathy that is genuine and a safe space to HEAL as we go in depth into our experiences and desire to create a value in us as we take time to "breathe, process, and heal," without bias!

I have been part of people’s journey through a wide range of challenges including but not limited to anxiety and depression , PSTD, communication, trauma, couples/relationship issues, social difficulties, self-esteem, and finding ways to engage in adaptive behaviors.
Growth and well-being are some of the important factors that contribute to gaining vision and support with goals in life. Do you find yourself having challenges with where to start, communicating your needs, or finding clarity on how you feel? Many of us do and it can be helpful to have a person to share ideas and feelings with that is supportive, all while feeling safe. In my private practice, I work with individuals who are facing stress and have challenges with thinking/daily activities due to various external factors.

We as human beings are impacted by the experiences of our lives even from before birth to present. Sometimes, some of these experiences are so destructive that make us feel trapped, without knowing what to do. In turn, these feelings negatively alter the way we relate to others and ourselves and produce symptoms of depression ; anxiety; insecurity; panic attacks; and compulsive, controlling, aggressive or abusive behaviors. All these symptoms are defensive reactions and indicative that something, deep inside us is not well and that we need help.

I also work with adult individuals dealing with depression , anxiety, and relationship difficulties that can hinder you from having a happier and more fulfilled life.
Helping children, adolescents, and their families is important to me. Having spent 17 years working with children in educational settings, I understand the struggles families face when dealing with behavioral and social issues, poor academic performance, learning disabilities, and mental health issues. Families may be faced with unexpected challenges such as loss of a loved one, loss of a job, or divorce. Not being able to help your child or teen with problems they face, or not being able to bring your family together as a loving unit can be frustrating and disheartening as a parent.

I have significant experience treating complex developmental trauma and the symptoms of shame, depression , and anxiety that often go along with traumatic experiences.
You are an intelligent person, and you are keenly aware of what is not working in your life. The stresses you are dealing with are overwhelming the the skills you have to cope with them. You need to learn new ways to manage these problems, and you probably need the confidence and encouragement to try something new. I know it's in you, and it's time to try something new.

Depression Therapists
Depressive disorders are characterized by persistent feelings of sadness and worthlessness and a lack of desire to engage in formerly pleasurable activities. Depression is not a passing blue mood, which almost everyone experiences from time to time, but a complex mind/body illness that interferes with everyday functioning. It not only darkens one's outlook, it is commonly marked by sleep problems and changes in energy levels and appetite. It alters the structure and function of nerve cells so that it disrupts the way the brain processes information and interprets experience.

Despite feelings of hopelessness and worthlessness, depression is a treatable condition. It can be treated with psychotherapy by depression therapists in University, Riverside. As with many illnesses, the earlier treatment begins, the more effective it can be and the greater the likelihood that recurrence can be prevented.

Psychotherapy addresses the thinking patterns that precipitate depression, and studies show that it prevents recurrence. Drug therapy is often helpful in relieving symptoms, such as severe anxiety, so that people can engage in meaningful psychotherapy.
