Life can be unpredictable and challenging- at times, we may struggle to find the tools to cope with its stressors, heal from its wounds, or live wholeheartedly. Whether you are struggling with depression, anxiety, loss, transition, feelings of hopelessness or worthlessness, self-doubt; you are not meant to do it all alone. I believe that therapy should be supportive, non-judgmental, and safe, while also inviting honest feedback necessary for change. In our
relationship
, I am an advocate for your health and well-being. We work together to help you get closer to the purposeful, connected, and fulfilled life you deserve.

I work with adults,
couples
and adolescents and have specialty training in the following areas:
relationship
dynamics, communication issues, anxiety, grief and loss, life transitions, alcohol/drug problems, codependency, trauma, sexual abuse, LGBT+, Queer/non-binary and self-injury.
Therapy can feel daunting, especially at first, so it's important you feel a comfortable connection with a therapist. Maybe you're here because you've been feeling the need to resolve problems or you need some support. Therapy is a collaborative process and we can talk about issues you feel ready to discuss. My intention is to create an environment where you feel safe to explore what's troubling you. We can work together and move at your pace - therapy is part talking, part listening and part teaching. The end goal is to help you find relief and solutions.

My clients are often parents who have difficulty managing their child's behavior. Whether it is at home, school or in the community, finding effective ways to change behavior can be a challenge. Often times, misbehavior is a product of a child having difficulty adjusting to a major life experience or developmental transition. This, in turn, may negatively impact the
relationship
between the child and their parents. Families work with me to enhance their
relationship
by decreasing conflict, improving communication, and learning effective ways to show their love for one-another.

Psychotherapy is unique & takes courage. It's fulfilling-yet challenging. Using empathy, collaboration, intuition, open mindedness & humor, we will identify automatic ways of thinking, & behaving- that show up as internal conflict, self sabotage, low self esteem, depression,
relationship
struggles & anxiety. I have a wide array of experience, working with diverse populations, including POC, people diagnosed with personality disorders, those experiencing psychosis, queer identified folks, folks with learning differences, & students with achievement struggles and imposter syndrome. My practice is trauma informed.

I work with a diverse clientele on depression, anxiety, life events and changes,
relationship
problems, and desire for growth and change.
Through my experience, I have observed that depression, anxiety, or any feeling can be understood intellectually, but is experienced in unique ways depending on the individual’s experience. Although two people might share the same diagnosis, their goals and treatment are specific to each client’s specific needs and experiences. My aim is to understand the unique aspects of your experience and, together, we can work toward achieving the goals you set when initially deciding to seek therapy.

Couples Counseling Therapists
Does couples counseling work?
Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.
When should a couple seek counseling?
Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.
How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?
The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.
How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?
The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
