My approach is warm, straightforward,
strength-based
, & research-driven.
You’ve overcome a lot, and yet are having a tough time containing the feelings, thoughts, and physical sensations this time. It’s spilling out into your personal and professional relationships and moving you further away from the life you imagined for yourself. You've reached your maximum bandwidth and before you know it, old patterns creep back in. The confidence that you'll be okay slips away with each day. You're realizing you need support to not only heal and accept what is, but also to transform and be able to grow through this!

You do not need to have a mental health disorder to seek therapy. Sometimes we just need someone to listen and provide extra support through life transitions and challenges. I'm pleased to be that person for you in your life. Everyone suffers from life's struggles, but healing begins through connections to both ourselves and the people in our lives. We all are resilient and have the aptitude to feel peace and acceptance with relationships and within.

My heart goes out to those who are struggling to find hope in their lives. Is that you? Have you felt like giving up? When everyone else around you seems to be happy, you do your best to put on a smile and act as if everything is okay, but it isn’t. You are struggling. Maybe you are feeling depressed or anxious. Maybe you are struggling in your relationships including your marriage, but don’t know why. Maybe you need healing from something someone else has done to you (including your spouse).

I specialize in helping people become more assertive, direct and confident. I want each person we collaborate with to eventually work me out of a job; preventing future stressors from causing setbacks. How I choose to do this is by taking a solution-focused approach, and regaining those skills of creativity and inventiveness that become shut down when things get too big to bring to a close.

Sometimes the anxiety feels like it is too much in control, or the fear, sadness or grief becomes too heavy to carry alone. Sometimes we get stuck and need help moving to a new place in relationships with family, friends or co-workers. When we start, end or seek change in a relationship or career, enter a new phase of life, or need guidance in parenting, we sometimes want a safe place to process our thoughts.

Here you will find a compassionate & authentic space in which you learn to more deeply connect with yourself (and others), so you can finally discover what's behind your typical “knee-jerk reactions” & why your “go to” coping strategies seem to cause more distress than the original problems! Then we'll make meaningful shifts to uncover new and healthier ways to approach life and relationships. Clients often come to me for help with a broad range of concerns, like: trauma, anxiety, depression, pain, existential malaise, creative blocks, infertility challenges, grief, & family/relationship drama and communication difficulties.

Hello and welcome. As a marriage and family therapist I am grateful for the opportunity to work with clients providing a safe and supportive environment, navigating various challenges life brings our way. I have had the privilege of working with diverse populations over the past 8 years, supporting them through these challenges. Life has no prejudice in choosing whom obstacles afflict and when, hurdles enter each of our paths at different times. As a therapist, I am blessed to be in a position to provide support honoring your path.

Parenting a struggling teenager can leave you feeling lonely & helpless - but it doesn’t have to be. For years, I’ve worked with teens who struggle with anxiety, depression, ADHD, defiance, substance use, & much more...& I’ve learned that a little investment in therapy can go a long way in helping them make tough changes that lead to a successful future. Over time, I’ve developed strategies that allow me to quickly connect with teens, help them break through the systems & defenses that just don’t work for them anymore, & help them create new ways of relating to their world that increase their healthy connection to people & life.

Are you a parent, caregiver, teacher, or other helping professional who is feeling burnt out? You're used to caring for everyone else, and you’re good at it! You're sensitive, thoughtful, and constantly push yourself to go the extra mile at home and work. The thing is–it's not really working for you. Maybe you’re anxious, stressed, burnt out, and overextended, but still feel like you’re not allowed to take a break. Maybe you’re frustrated–you’re tired of sacrificing and feeling unappreciated. Maybe part of you is longing to just be taken care of for a change, while another part of you doesn’t really believe you deserve it.

Do you experience symptoms related to anxiety, stress, worry, low self-worth, and depression? Do you frequently engage in unhelpful (negative) thinking? When engaging in chronic negative thinking patterns, called cognitive distortions, the way you see yourself, others, and the world become severely affected. We often filter our lives through this lens unconsciously. With the primary use of cognitive behavioral (CBT) and dialectical behavioral (DBT) strategies, I can guide you to redirect your unhelpful thoughts and manage your emotions for the purpose of empowering you to choose healthy behaviors.

I believe the most influential part of the therapeutic process is the relationship between the client and therapist. I could continue to go to school, and put more letters behind my name, but that won’t mean anything if my clients don’t feel safe, connected, and comfortable. I believe that all of us, at any point in time, can become “stuck.” I welcome your calls to see if we will be a good fit, to travel through your personal navigation for growth, healing, and empowerment.

If you find yourself in a codependent relationship with either a partner, friend, or family member, it’s time to seek help. Codependent relationships are often a result of unresolved trauma. I provide a safe, non-judgmental space to process your experiences. We’ll dig deep and get “real.” My approach is collaborative and depth-oriented – I don’t just sit back and nod and smile. I’ll go deep with you and empower you to create healthy boundaries in relationships that will ultimately increase your confidence and allow you to live the life you want to live, free of people-pleasing.

Strength-Based Therapists
How does strength-based therapy work?
During strength-based therapy sessions, the therapist will ask about an individual’s experiences of stress, pain, or trauma with the goal of orienting the client to view themselves as a survivor rather than a victim, and focusing on their strengths rather than on their weaknesses. In framing a client’s personal narrative along these lines, the therapist and client work together to identify existing skills that can be harnessed.
Is strength-based therapy evidence-based?
Strength-based therapy is an evidence-based treatment that has been studied extensively and shown to be effective across domains. The treatment has been found to be particularly effective in helping individuals who are experiencing stress, anxiety, depression, trauma, and other mental health concerns. Strength-based therapy has been used by therapists to help clients for more than 60 years.
How long does strength-based therapy last?
There’s no precise timeline for strength-based therapy. The duration of treatment depends on the individual’s specific needs and goals and the severity of their concerns. Some individuals may find they achieve their therapeutic goals quickly, while others might benefit from ongoing support and guidance in order to continue progressing.
How effective is strength-based therapy?
Clinical research and decades of practice have shown strength-based therapy to be an effective treatment to improve mental health and well-being for many conditions. The treatment can engender a sense of connection and collaboration between the therapist and the individual, fostering a positive therapeutic relationship. For individuals with narcissistic tendencies, strength-based therapy may be less effective, as the focus on the individual’s strengths may undermine the work needed to honestly assess the challenges the individual faces.
