I work from a Cognitive Behavioral, Psychodynamic, and solution focused perspective.
Everyone goes through periods of sadness, loss, anger, and adjustment to new situations. You are not alone in your struggles. Don’t allow anger, and resentment that grows from adversity to impair your ability to live your true life! Life can throw some curve balls and having the skills to maneuver these unpredictable situations is paramount in the healing process. Realizing you are not alone and finding a compassionate person to assist you through your struggle are the first steps. The next step is being present in therapy, willing to engage as we learn new skills to navigate this unpredictable world together. I will stand with you.

My theoretical approach is psychodynamic, which is tailored to fit the needs of each client.
I am an associate marriage family therapist. I have approximately three years of experience working with foster children and families, and at-risk youth. I have provided therapy for teenagers and survivors of domestic violence. These opportunities have given me a desire to continue serving children, teens, families, and all ages and groups of people at all stages of life. I have worked with individuals exhibiting signs of depression, anxiety, trauma, suicide ideation, and self-harming behaviors. My goal as a therapist is to provide a safe environment while building a secure therapeutic alliance with my clients.

I work from an integrative approach, drawing primarily from a psychodynamic orientation.
CURRENTLY OFFERING VIDEO SESSIONS I view psychotherapy as an opportunity to enrich your relationship with yourself and the world. Together, we'll create a safe space where you can explore and understand yourself, your strengths, and your challenges. In therapy, we'll develop effective coping skills to use now and in future situations. Life can be difficult but you don't have to figure it out all alone. I know you're struggling with something painful right now ... you've already taken the first step toward healing. .

I work from a psychodynamic foundation and use any approach that might help.
Trauma informs how we relate in the world and can be complex, confusing, and painful with multiple layers. Coping or trying to cope with trauma is challenging, interfering with what most consider "normal life activities." Its hard to explain to others who do not understand and who have never experienced something that "rocked" their world in a disturbing, sometimes literally life threatening way. When there has been any degree of trauma, what was is no longer and what is frightens, disorients us. Behaviors, thinking, feelings change in the shadow of trauma. There is help available and you are not alone. Recovery is possible.

My approach to therapy is predominately psychodynamic.
I enjoy working with individuals who are seeking a deeper awareness of their past, in order to understand themselves in the present and thrive in the future. I strive to create trusting relationships with my clients that allow us to work together collaboratively. I typically help clients with relational issues, depression, anxiety, life transitions and trauma. I utilize a LGBTQIA+ affirmative lens and fuse together a psychodynamic approach and when appropriate Attachment Focused EMDR to target traumas. I also enjoy working with couples who are looking to tune up their communication skills and make time to reconnect.

I see therapy is an opportunity to ask big questions and connect with our deeper meaning: How do I have a meaningful life? What are the patterns in my life which no longer serve me & what do I want to do differently? Therapy is a place to tend to wounds & heal suffering which keeps us from being fully present to ourselves, our relationships, & our individual sense of purpose. I am honored to work with people on their journey to become the author of their life's story.

Helping others in chaos and finding order is a path that is very comfortable for me to navigate. As a Life Coach/Professional Organizer, my passion is to help people create an improved quality of life and a healthy environment through organizing. It can be overwhelming when clutter starts taking over the physical space but it also diminishes the mental and emotional state of individuals causing paralysis and stagnation. My ability to see the potential, which guides the work I do with individuals, helping them understand where they are at the present moment and then giving them the direction to create results.

I love to work with client's who are open to experiential ways of discovering their authentic self. I believe we all have the ability to intuitively tap into our own internal knowing that will guide us with clarity. I work with clients on connecting to their highest sense of self and releasing the dependence on seeking their worth outside of themselves. We are more than what we think!

Is psychodynamic therapy evidence-based?

Studies have found psychodynamic therapy to be effective in treating conditions like social anxiety, eating disorders, chronic pain, some personality disorders, and depression; indeed, some studies have found it to be just as effective as CBT or medication. What’s more, several studies have found that the benefits of psychodynamic therapy tend to endure—even grow—long after treatment has ended.

How long does psychodynamic therapy last?

Unlike CBT and other more structured forms of therapy, psychodynamic therapy tends to be open-ended and may not be limited to a set number of sessions. It is common for clients to be in therapy for a year or longer and to see their therapist one to three times a week, though the exact schedule and timeline may vary depending on a client’s challenges and progress. However, brief psychodynamic therapy is available, which tends to be more goal-oriented and typically unfolds over 16 to 30 sessions.

Does psychodynamic therapy work?

Research finds that psychodynamic therapy can help someone manage or reduce symptoms of diagnosable mental health conditions like depression or anxiety. The modality may also offer a range of benefits that are harder to measure but just as valuable—such as increased self-worth or healthier relationships. While no therapy type will work for everyone, research and anecdotal evidence suggest that psychodynamic therapy can be highly effective.

What are the limitations of psychodynamic therapy?

Some meta-analyses have concluded that there is little evidence to suggest that psychodynamic therapy can effectively treat certain mental health conditions such as PTSD, OCD, or psychosis, though it is sometimes used to do so. More broadly, the open-ended, free-association structure of psychodynamic therapy may be frustrating for clients who prefer a more structured, time-limited, or goal-oriented approach.
