I am passionate about meeting you where you are with empathy and acceptance. I take a strengths-based approach and consider how your assets can be used to meet your treatment goals. Each person comes into this world with strengths and weaknesses, in therapy you can learn ways to use your strengths to support your weaknesses and address the impact of life adversities. In trauma and anxiety treatment we ask, "What happened?" rather than "What is wrong with you?" By stepping back from the symptoms, I consider dynamic factors that contribute to your unique history; as well as unseen biological, medical, cultural and systemic factors.

Despite the trauma , the loss, the breakup, divorce, life not being Instagram worthy….
My ideal client is a first timer in therapy, they maybe thought about therapy or they’re taking their first step into getting themselves better. They might be a first-generation college student, a person of color, a minority who wants to understand who they are. They’re also looking for someone that looks like them, because after what they’ve been through, letting down walls and being vulnerable doesn’t just happen. They want someone who provides support and knowledge not just from a textbook but real authenticity, derived from life experiences, and wisdom from the heart.

EMDR & Somatic Based therapies are evidence based treatments, which are proven to be highly effective in treating trauma , PTSD , anxiety, depression and other emotional difficulties.
Do you suffer from the effects of having bad experiences that have left you feeling traumatized & stuck in the past? There are big "T" (traumatic) events such as sexual assault, rape, child abuse, war, death, major car accidents and then there are what is called the little "t" events such as emotional abuse, neglect, rejection, homophobia (bi-trans), hurt and a series of other "seemingly smaller" but yet a times equally damaging experiences. Over time these events can over time erode your feelings of self esteem, sense of safety and ability to trust in the world.

As a second-generation South Asian American of mixed heritage, I am interested in intergenerational trauma and how the cycles show up in our daily lives.
Do you feel like you’re performing a role that you didn’t sign up for? Do you have trouble falling asleep or focusing on tasks because the mind chatter is too loud? Are you constantly on the go because slowing down feels too scary? Reaching out for support can be tough, especially if you come from an environment that stigmatizes mental health. I work with clients to identify their personal values and to create a balance between their cultural traditions and daily life in the West. Together, we can cultivate a space where you can feel seen and heard and bring in the parts of you that may have been silenced and rejected.

I love supporting people who have experienced trauma , attachment injuries from their past, imposter syndrome, anger, and anxiety.
Hello there and welcome! I am a body positive, sex positive, culture, diversity, belief-system, LGBTQ+, you positive therapist. It is my goal to really see you and understand everything that goes into where you are right now in life. I use my personal experience as a person who feels things (no robot therapist here) and has experienced trauma to help us both understand you. I believe shaming you won’t get you where you are going - only empathy and understanding. Though if you are looking for a perfect therapist, I might not be the therapist for you. I make mistakes - I have locked myself out of the office before a session.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
