You can expect to feel validated, supported, and YES heard as you began to master overcoming the
anxiety
, depression, and the pervasive sense of failure.
This is too much, the constant worry, the inability to relax, and the heart pounding fear that seems to shatter your self-worth. So-called simply task of getting out of bed, completing daily task or leaving your home almost seem to paralyze you and causes an overwhelming feeling of self-doubt, low self-esteem, and feelings of failure. All you want is to feel better; but questions of whether you will be able to trust someone with your thoughts without feeling judged, are lurking.

For the past 13 years, I have helped clients with
anxiety
, depression, eating disorders/body image, trauma, shame, grief/loss, relationship issues, parenting, and school-based concerns.
The demands of life can sometimes be difficult to navigate on our own. A therapeutic environment can be a safe and supportive place to address these demands. As a psychotherapist, I work from a compassionate and practical perspective. I enjoy helping others gain insight, find their inner strength, develop healthy communication skills and learn to cope. Most people who are looking for a therapist are searching for an ally and someone who can help them get relief as soon as possible. I use a highly empathic, relationship-based approach that is focused on symptom relief.

*ACCEPTING NEW CLIENTS. As we continue to face traumas from our past, feeling alone, anxious, or depressed is normal. But we all need healing. Think about where you want to be after attending therapy and how rewarding it will feel. That feeling, YOU DESERVE! My goal as a therapist is to be and provide a safe environment for my clients and find the underlying reason for the issue at hand, so that they could reach their full potential. I primarily utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma Focused CBT, and Grief Recovery components in my sessions.

I am passionate about meeting you where you are with empathy and acceptance. I take a strengths-based approach and consider how your assets can be used to meet your treatment goals. Each person comes into this world with strengths and weaknesses, in therapy you can learn ways to use your strengths to support your weaknesses and address the impact of life adversities. In trauma and
anxiety
treatment we ask, "What happened?" rather than "What is wrong with you?" By stepping back from the symptoms, I consider dynamic factors that contribute to your unique history; as well as unseen biological, medical, cultural and systemic factors.

I love supporting people who have experienced trauma, attachment injuries from their past, imposter syndrome, anger, and
anxiety
.
Hello there and welcome! I am a body positive, sex positive, culture, diversity, belief-system, LGBTQ+, you positive therapist. It is my goal to really see you and understand everything that goes into where you are right now in life. I use my personal experience as a person who feels things (no robot therapist here) and has experienced trauma to help us both understand you. I believe shaming you won’t get you where you are going - only empathy and understanding. Though if you are looking for a perfect therapist, I might not be the therapist for you. I make mistakes - I have locked myself out of the office before a session.

Have you said these statements? "I woke up and I don't know the person I am sleeping with?' "We don't trust each other" or "she just won't get over what happen." "I feel like I am not good enough, I feel hopeless." I like working with individuals and couples facing difficulties with boundary issues, infidelity, emotional and physical abuse, as well as issues with
anxiety
. You need to feel heard, validated, and supported. I can help you identify triggers that cause significant distress and give you strategies to challenge negative beliefs that limit your ability to function in the relationship. This is the foundation of my work.

Congratulations! You did it. You took the first step to make a change and better yourself. I work with anxious adults who know that they are experiencing
anxiety
but don't know why.
Anxiety
sucks. Holding it together on the outside but falling apart within. Willing to sacrifice your needs for the needs of others. People-pleasing because saying 'no' scares you. You feel anxious all the time but just don't know why. Although you seem put together on the outside, no one can tell that inside, you’re crumbling. Everyone gets a little nervous sometimes. But this feels serious. You’ve tried deep breathing, you’ve downloaded the meditation apps, and your friends and family just don’t know how to help. Your thoughts are racing, heart pounding, palms sweating…and you don’t know how to stop.

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?
Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.
How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?
The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.
When should I seek treatment for anxiety?
Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.
How effective is treatment for anxiety?
Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
