For OCD and Anxiety I do CBT and Exposure Therapy.
Calif Only. In person Only. Narcissistic abuse is one of the worst things you have to go through. You can and will recover with some good therapy and God. I use spirituality in my work. Please note: There are many stages of Narc Abuse: Currently in relationship, seeking to leave, etc. I focus on and restrict my practice to POST narc abuse ONLY-after you have left the Narcissist. I do not take clients in active divorce/custody or court involved cases. I specialize in codependency/ empowerment of women post abuse and post abuser. We don't talk about the abuser, we focus on you owning your power!

Tired of feeling stressed, overwhelmed, or stuck in life? Are you going through your days on autopilot, with no clear direction on where you’re going? Or even if you do know what you want, are you feeling helpless or hopeless about things getting better? Having a clear life path, more energy, and happiness may seem like a far away dream. Waking up and feeling excited about your day may feel impossible. Especially if one of your favorite pastimes is hitting that snooze button 10+ times every morning. ;)

Sometimes life challenges leave you overwhelmed and you do not know what to do. Seeking counseling can be difficult and it is often hard to take the first step. I offer a safe and supportive environment to work with you on making the changes to improve your life. I am committed to providing effective and non-judgemental services to the individuals and families I work with. Working with children who have experienced traumatic life experiences is an area that I have many years of experience. Helping these children build trusting relationships with others is very important to me.

You’re overwhelmed, overstimulated, and searching for relief, and quite frankly, getting pretty desperate. That "best life" others seem to live feels just beyond reach, with a little progress one day, then sliding all the way back to where you started. It’s exhausting. You logically know you’ve overcome so much, but where is that strength everyone says you have? Together, we can foster compassion for the coping skills you’ve used to survive. These strategies deserve acknowledgment and appreciation because they have kept you alive.

As a licensed clinical psychologist, I enjoy helping people to improve their overall quality of life, not only through symptom reduction, but also through functional restoration. Given my experience working with chronic pain, trauma, depression, anxiety, and stress, I understand that when we are impacted by these challenges, we often feel unable to participate in the life roles that contribute to defining who we are and what we want to experience in life. Psychotherapy offers an opportunity to build and regain confidence, improve relationships, increase productivity, overcome difficulties, and more effectively manage daily life.

I believe every person has potential to feel a sense of balance in their life. Life is not always that simple and situations beyond your control can knock you off balance. Through the process of therapy, you can develop more insight into how these events and circumstances are affecting your life. Interpersonal relationships are also very important component to having a sense of balance in your life. Therapy can give you the support and insight needed to develop stronger connections in current relationships and feel more confident in your skills to obtain new relationships.

Obsessive-Compulsive (OCD) Therapists

How long does OCD treatment take?

Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is often treated on a weekly or twice-weekly schedule, depending on symptom severity and the client’s preferences. Some clients may start to see a noticeable improvement in symptoms in as little as six weeks, but it’s also possible, especially in more severe cases, for treatment to take several months to a year before significant progress is made.

What happens if OCD is not treated?

Some people with OCD, especially those with mild symptoms, may find that they are able to adapt reasonably well to life with the condition, even if their symptoms never resolve completely. However, many people, particularly those whose symptoms are severe at the outset, find that their obsessions and compulsions grow more intrusive with time, making it harder to maintain relationships, hold down a job, or navigate the world successfully.

Are there medications for OCD?

Medication can be used to treat OCD. The class of drugs most often prescribed are selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, or SSRIs, which include fluvoxamine (under the brand name Luvox), fluoxetine (Prozac), and sertraline (Zoloft), among others. In cases of treatment-resistant OCD, other classes of medication, such as tricyclic antidepressants or atypical antipsychotics, may be prescribed. Medication is frequently used in conjunction with therapy.

Can OCD come back after treatment?

Yes. Major life transitions, periods of stress, or other factors can cause symptoms to return or, if they were never fully eradicated, to ramp back up in intensity. For some, these relapses are brief and do not require additional treatment; identifying specific triggers and practicing the skills learned in therapy can help speed their course. For others, returning to therapy for a brief period can help address the underlying stress and strengthen coping mechanisms.
