Are you ready for real change? Are you open-minded, curious and willing to look outside the box for real change and long term solutions? I believe in the healing power of relationships and the wisdom of the nervous system and when you put the two together, incredible things can happen. You want a safe space and tools to process your trauma, heal and thrive. If so, let's do this! I have worked with a variety of mental conditions for over 16 years. I specialize in trauma, whether complex trauma or a single incident. It’s not our challenges that define us but our willingness to face our problems and starting the healing process.

My ideal client has an awareness of their presenting problem (unproductive thought pattern, emotions or behavior), and is ready to release it. The client realizes something is not working and ready to breakthrough their current situation. Many have often tried other traditional therapy or personal development and may even have hit a mental health crisis (anxiety, suicidal thoughts, depression, rage, etc.) Some clients simply want to level-up their mindset to further their personal, relational or career goals. Many choose to work with me with issues of self-love/confidence, emotional/relational instability, or behavioral change.

Hello, and firstly, kudos to you for taking the first steps (or more if returning to therapy) on reaching out for support! Whether it is part of your self-journey, or to connect with your family, partner, or spouse, it takes courage, vulnerability, and commitment to ask for help. This is especially true within the chaos of our lives and the social pressures to put on the multiple hats (Parent, Partner, Child, etc.) that we wear. Therapy for me is about caring for the human facing me, and offering the space where we can collaborate together to find your lost stories, while respecting each persons authentic experience of life.

In an increasingly complex world, we all strive to find balance in our lives. When one aspect of our lives becomes more demanding, we can lose this sense of balance, and struggle to regain our footing. A job loss, a move, a new relationship, the loss of a loved one, an illness- all of these can upset our equilibrium and leave us overwhelmed and struggling to cope. Whether your difficulties are recent or longstanding, whether you are seeking to improve your mood, your relationships, or your ability to cope with life's challenges, working with a good therapist can help.

I assist individuals in overcoming their inner pain, and learning to face the challenges of life from a place of strength, compassion, and connection. As your ally in healing, I can help you process the emotions, memories and experiences that may underly your current suffering, so that you’re free to feel connected with yourself, with others, and with life. Welcome! I have spent more than a decade in trauma work and understand the arduous process to release the debilitating grip past trauma can have on a client’s present-moment experience. I recognize the profound courage it takes to look deeply within. I prepare my clients to find that invisible line between comfort and discomfort to set the foundation for lifechanging results and encourage them to live in their own authentic truth. Trauma healing looks different for everyone and I work side by side with each of my clients to design a path of healing that feels right to them.

Dissociative Disorders (DID) Therapists

How does therapy for dissociative disorders work?

Dissociation may be triggered by stress or other upsetting circumstances, and therapy can address the traumatic events at the core of an individual’s dissociation. Understanding why a person may dissociate can help the therapist and the individual come up with alternative methods of coping. A person with a dissociative disorder may get stuck on negative thinking, for example, and treatment like Cognitive behavioral therapy is a gold standard for breaking such thinking. And dialectical behavior therapy, for example, can help a person manage their anguish through better emotion regulation.

Which therapies are best for dissociative disorders?

Specific approaches used by professionals include cognitive behavioral, dialectical behavior, psychodynamic, schema therapies, among others. Cognitive behavioral and dialectical behavior therapies are two widely used therapies that can help individuals with painful memories and past traumas. These therapies work to integrate an individual's different identities into one person.

Are there specific medications for dissociation?

There are no specific medications prescribed for dissociative disorders. However, psychosis, depression, anxiety, and/or panic often co-occur in dissociative disorders. A psychiatrist may prescribe medications for any accompanying symptom—which may include antipsychotics like aripiprazole, antidepressants like selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, or anti-anxiety drugs like benzodiazepines.

How often and how long are therapy sessions?

Like any type of therapy, sessions depend on the individual. Patients may see improvement within 15 to 20 sessions, at an average of 50 minutes per session, others may opt for 20 to 30 sessions over, perhaps, a six-month period. There are still other patients, especially those who have co-occurring conditions like depression and anxiety, who may need to continue sessions for up to 12 to 18 months.
