We learn patterns and behaviors early on that help us cope with life's challenges. Sometimes, these tools stop working or become unhelpful. I want to help you recreate your toolbox. Whatever you are dealing with, I provide a safe space for you to be able to deepen and internally investigate so we can mindfully take on your complex problems. If you are dealing with relationship issues, codependency, addiction, anxiety, I approach all with curiosity. My goal is to have you leave therapy feeling heard, understood, and empowered to make new choices that work for you.

I enjoy working with a diverse range of clients, but in particular, I’ve spent years supporting children and adults who are autistic, gifted, twice-exceptional, have ADHD, or are otherwise neurodivergent. At the heart of my work is a belief that everyone deserves to feel understood and accepted as they are, and that this acceptance is necessary for real growth and change. Many of the clients I work with are developing a new understanding of themselves. Together, we explore what it means to embrace their differences while also building supportive, practical coping skills that make daily life feel more manageable and fulfilling.

I work with people from all walks of life, and my ideal clients are those who are looking for a collaborative therapeutic experience, navigating addiction, depression, anxiety, trauma, eating disorders, mood disorders, or personality disorders. Most people come to me because they feel stuck, overwhelmed, or unsure how to move forward, and they’re looking for a therapist who is both compassionate and practical. I believe in setting clear, shared goals early in treatment and using frequent therapeutic homework to create structure and momentum.

I have experience working with LGBTQ+/Gender Non Binary clients, the Deaf and Hard of Hearing, parents of children struggling with emotional regulation, and clients who have been diagnosed with mood disorders.
I believe we heal through relationships. They can positively rewire our brains and facilitate growth. In our sessions, we will enter into a therapeutic relationship through conversation. Together we will create a safe space and explore the things that are troubling you. We will learn more about your thoughts, your feelings, and your beliefs. We will examine how those things influence your behaviors. The more you know, the more control you have in the way you move through life. The key to transformational change is awareness. Our focus will be on the present-what is happening now, and how you want to be.

I want therapy to feel like a soft place to land. At any age, we may find ourselves lonely, lost or in pain. It makes sense to feel so much when life is full of unknowns and obstacles. Those feelings could point to a need for more understanding and support.

You are the expert of your life! Utilizing an "eclectic" approach, I will draw from an array of psychological orientations to help you recognize and move past obstacles standing between you and your contentment; which will enable you to experience more fulfilling relationships. I'm a "compassionate soul" with great listening skills, although my style is "active" and I frequently utilize Cognitive Behavioral tools and techniques to help you challenge your thinking, reduce your anxiety, and to encourage you to take advantage of the full spectrum of thinking and being.

LGBTQ+ Therapists
Do LGBTQ-affirmative therapists receive special training?
Yes. Many therapists who practice LGBTQ-affirmative therapy have completed specialized training, either during their degree program or as continuing education, to learn the core principles of affirmative therapy and how to best support their LGBTQ clients; some have received certifications in LGBTQ-affirmative therapy. Prospective clients should inquire as to a clinician’s background and training to ensure a good fit.

Why might I want to see an LGBTQ-affirming or LGBTQ-friendly therapist?
Queer and gender-non-conforming individuals frequently experience bias and marginalization in day-to-day life. Working with a therapist who understands these unique challenges, as well as accepts and affirms their identity, can help LGBTQ clients feel safe and supported during therapy—allowing them to better navigate their relationships, mental health, and anything else that they wish to explore during therapy. It is important to note that many therapists can be effective in their work with LGBTQ+ individuals, even in the absence of specific training or background knowledge. The most important component in therapy is the alliance between therapist and client, and this alliance can exist between individuals with very different backgrounds.

How can I find an LGBTQ-friendly therapist?
You may wish to inquire about a therapist’s expertise with your specific challenges or concerns—depression, for example, or relationship strife—as well as their past experiences treating LGBTQ+ clients. Prospective clients may also ask whether a therapist has obtained additional training and/or certification in LGBTQ-affirmative techniques.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience with LGBTQ issues?
Prospective clients should feel empowered to directly ask therapists whether they have received training or been certified in LGBTQ-affirming therapy; competent therapists will be happy to explain their educational background and preferred approach(es) to help a client find the best match for them. Clients may also wish to ask how a therapist has treated clients with their particular challenges in the past and what they expect treatment to look like.

Are all the therapists listed in the LGBTQ directory themselves members of the LGBTQ community?
While therapists may choose to disclose their sexual orientation or gender identity in their profiles, the LGBTQ directory features not only those who have shared this information but also those who assert specialized training or experience in providing support to queer individuals, couples or families.
