I offer many modalities of therapy and I have worked with all age groups from children/ adolescence, adults, geriatric, groups, and couples as well.
I believe that the power of vulnerability is one of our greatest strengths and ultimately can provide us with a deeper sense of self, security, comfort, and more compassionate towards one another. Coming from a strength-based form of doing therapy and providing support to others, I work to provide my clients with a sense of validation and comfort. As a cis male that identifies as Latinx and as a proud member of the LGBTQIA community, I am able to hold the experience of living in many diverse, cross-cultural emotional experiences that we sometimes may not even know how to begin to understand.

You're thoughtful, motivated, probably pretty self-aware. And yet something keeps nagging — a pattern you can't quite break, a feeling that despite everything you've built, something essential is missing. If you are here, something isn’t working. Or maybe you feel hopeless and want help finding a way forward. You may be struggling with depression, anxiety, trauma, or relationship difficulties. Maybe you're dealing with creative blocks or questions of identity. Or maybe you've done all the "right" things and still feel empty. Whatever brought you here, there is hope. You don't have to figure it out alone.

I work with clients between the ages of 10-65, though my specialty is working with adolescents.
These days it's easy to feel overwhelmed and demoralized. In our work together, I will fight for you in those moments when your energy is depleted. I will also empower you to advocate for yourself and the life you want. By finding your voice, you can move forward in the world with confidence and hope. Together we can find a clear path forward to your goals.

I use ACT, DBT, and attachment-based interventions to help you (or your family/partnership/ teen) move toward healing.
“There’s nothing more healing than choosing to love.” You want connection and closeness yet you struggle to find it. You feel frustrated that your relationships aren’t fulfilling or aren't right for you. You're reflective and thoughtful, and yet you're having difficulty showing up how you want to in your life, partnership, or family. Perhaps you're struggling with isolation, anxiety, depression, or overwhelm. These are real challenges. Together we can co-create a gentle yet courageous space to explore who you are, what you need, and how to try new things that move you toward what you value most in life and in your relationships.

My clients are often sensitive, intelligent, and creative people who face life transitions, self-doubt, anxiety, depression, and the challenges of liberating passion and creating meaning in life. Many struggle with the legacy of significant trauma. Through acceptance, loving encouragement, and providing a container for self-exploration, I help clients to find a more encompassing love for self and other, develop strength and firmness of character, and tap into the well of their vitality, creativity, and joy.

Though I am from the Bay Area, I spent over a decade in New England as a performing artist and bodyworker. My background as a musician and writer gives me a unique perspective on working with creatively oriented clients, though I see people from all kinds of backgrounds. People tend to come see me when they feel stuck, either at the beginning of a healing journey or when nothing else has worked. I work with relationship issues, anxiety, depression, ADHD and executive functioning, complex trauma and more. My sliding scale allows me to work a variety of financial abilities and this conversation is always part of my intake process.

Welcome I am glad you are here. I am an expressive arts therapist, and I have dedicated my career to anti-oppression work. Creativity heals and can deepen the work you want to do, for those that want to explore in that way. I view therapy as both personal, interpersonal, social and that systemic issues impact healing. Therapy with me is honest, we may laugh together, or I may hold with you your biggest sorrows. You are the leader and I am here to facilitate and co-create the change you wish to achieve. We will chip away at stuckness together

I also see adolescents, providing support and psychoeducation to end self-harming or risky behaviors, building a strong alliance.
I work with clients at a turning point in their lives, who want to heal painful histories and beliefs, repeating relational patterns, to find direction and self-love. With modalities of Gestalt awareness, Jungian imaginal discovery, existential inquiry, psychoeducation and caring exploration, we dive into what wants to be seen. I see clients recover from dysfunctional family systems, addiction, and codependency. We heal past wounds and build self-support for increased choicefulness. I understand 12-step models, having over 25 years experience with them. I respect recovering individuals who have readiness to do deep therapeutic work.

One way that people can cope with trauma, anxiety and depression is to distract ourselves with work. While this is a functional way to survive, it can also lead to feelings of isolation, numbness, extreme stress and burnout. Future goals and dreams may feel hopeless, you may be feeling like it is getting harder and harder just to move through your day. It may become challenging to connect with others and perhaps impossible to connect with any joy. In these times of uncertainty, it makes sense that we would be reaching out for support, reevaluating what is important and talking through ideas on how to move forward.

You’re a capable, driven, and successful professional or student—but inside you may feel anxious, burnt out, or stuck in perfectionism and overthinking. As a therapist in Oakland, I work with high-achieving adults who feel pressure to get everything “right,” struggle to relax, or find that their relationships aren’t meeting their needs. Therapy can help you create more ease, self-trust, and connection—without losing your ambition.

I am accepting new clients, offering both in-person and video sessions. I greatly enjoy working with the process of self-discovery and meaning making. This involves a passion for helping those who feel stuck to identify and remove the barriers toward change so that they can live a more fulfilling life. I take a relational approach to psychotherapy in which I believe it is the therapeutic relationship that heals. Through an exploration of your life, I enjoy learning about the relationship you have with your struggles, the purpose to be had within them, and the agency you have in the process.

FAQ - Teenage and Adolescent Therapists
What does therapy for teenagers look like?
When a therapist works with a teenager, the pair will talk about what the teen is struggling with and explore solutions, which may involve interpersonal skills, coping strategies, medication, or lifestyle changes related to sleep, diet, and exercise. Different therapists employ different modalities, but most involve a combination of conversation and skill building.

How long does therapy for teenagers generally take to work?
There’s variability in teenagers’ experiences and challenges; some may begin to improve from therapy within a few weeks while others may take several months or longer. Teens can discuss their progress with their therapist periodically to assess how they’re improving and any changes to the treatment plan that could potentially accelerate that progress.

How do you encourage a teenager to go to therapy?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love while framing therapy as an opportunity to explore a tool that could help improve their life; just like they practice baseball or dance, now they can practice their emotional skills. Give your teen control over the process where you can—maybe by weighing in on choice of therapist and signaling that therapy involves confidentiality, so a parent need not know all that is discussed in sessions.

How do you prepare teens for therapy?
You can prepare your teenager for therapy by describing what the process will look like and setting expectations for timeline, if requested. You can explain that the first session may begin with an assessment phase, that they can describe their experiences but that the therapist will ask questions too, and that it may take time to feel comfortable opening up. Ask how they’re feeling about the process and answer any questions calmly and supportively.
