We understand what it’s like to work in a high-pressure environment while managing a personal and
family
life.
You’re considered to be quite successful in many areas of your life. Even though you know this is true, you don’t feel like you’re doing well at the moment. You’re smart, capable, and usually able to solve your problems, but trying to “fix” your emotional struggles just hasn’t worked. The demands of your work and personal life feel like they're just too much for you to handle right now. Your relationship with your partner might be a struggle. You may feel burned out.

Hi, I'm Kelly Jeanne, founder of H.E.A.L. Your Self Counseling, a holistic psychotherapy practice that seeks to support the whole person, integrating heart, mind, body and soul. If you are experiencing symptoms of anxiety, depression, irritability or any other number of issues, this may be your being's way of telling you that something is out of alignment. Maybe you have been disconnected from your body or you've lost touch with the deeper longings of your soul. Perhaps your mind is caught on old thought patterns that no longer serve you or your heart is closed off to love based on past hurts.

I am a warm, compassionate and engaged therapist. We can work short or long term but healing trauma can take some time. I use Internal
Family
systems and EMDR to help heal deep core wounds and release burdens that have been carried in one's system, often for a lifetime. The work is experiential and can be truly transformative. I work with individuals, families and couples. I work well with couples committed to deep work who seek true intimacy.

DENISE SAFONT IS ACCEPTING NEW CLIENTS. Many people grow up in families that display a wide range of behaviors and thought patterns that cause distress. Mental health issues, illness, economic instability and substance abuse are often present.
Family
members often feel exhausted and overwhelmed from taking care of others and denying their own self care. Having the willingness to look at ways you can improve your own life is an important skill that will provide you with a better outlook on your situation. Using strategies that are easy to learn, clients often feel successful after their first visit.

Our
family
-of-origin experiences teach us how to be with others when we are adolescents and adults. As we grow, we develop our coping and communication styles. However, later we may find that some of those early strategies no longer serve us, or that we were misguided, or we find that our choices backfired - which can make navigating the world at times scary and overwhelming. Whether you survived a childhood or other trauma, or were thrown off balance when life took you in unexpected, painful directions, it can be useful to examine your current coping skills and relationships, and determine whether any of your tools need updating.

Family Therapy
What do family therapists do?
A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.
How long does therapy for families take to work?
Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.
How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?
You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.
Is therapy for families effective?
Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
