Hello! Is your child or
teen
struggling? Are you looking for someone who can help them through? I specialize in helping children and teens get through tough times. Kids often have a harder time knowing when they need help. They may act out with eccentric behavior, or keep it all in, seeming suddenly sad and reserved. Issues such as depression, anxiety, divorce or bullying are overwhelming for kids and their parents. In therapy, we develop tools to communicate what's hard and develop confidence and a strong sense of self along the way.

Having trained in child and
adolescent
agencies I have extensive experience in the challenges facing parents especially in today's society.
It is my therapeutic goal to provide a thoughtful, individualistic approach to each client. I believe that utilizing a variety of clinical skills allows me to fit an approach to each client rather fitting the client to a theoretical construct. I understand therapy to be a means to delineate that which is not gratifying in your life and determine the changes necessary to allow your life to blossom. I look forward to supporting and guiding you through this process as it can be a challenging as well as exciting journey.

Is your
teen
anxious, withdrawn, or engaging in behaviors that concern you? Is your child experiencing difficulty in school, with friendships, or managing their emotions? Young people often express their needs and emotions differently than adults, and it can be difficult for parents to understand or know what to do. In my practice, I help young people process what they are experiencing, and help parents understand and feel confident supporting their child's growth and development. In addition, I have extensive experience working with adults struggling with transitions, relationship issues, anxiety, and depression.

As a Relationship Therapist I help Individuals, couples, and families overcome tough issues and discover deeper more fulfilling relationships. I specialize in Infidelity Recovery. Discovering that you have been cheated on and lied to is a painful and traumatic experience that can cause many feelings such as despair, anger, sadness, rage, fear and loss. If you were unfaithful, realizing the depth of the pain caused, and the guilt associated with it is often unbearable. However, there is hope; getting over the betrayal, takes a skilled experienced therapist. I call back 7 days a week for urgent matters; I understand the need for help.

What does therapy for teenagers look like?
When a therapist works with a teenager, the pair will talk about what the teen is struggling with and explore solutions, which may involve interpersonal skills, coping strategies, medication, or lifestyle changes related to sleep, diet, and exercise. Different therapists employ different modalities, but most involve a combination of conversation and skill building.
How long does therapy for teenagers generally take to work?
There’s variability in teenagers’ experiences and challenges; some may begin to improve from therapy within a few weeks while others may take several months or longer. Teens can discuss their progress with their therapist periodically to assess how they’re improving and any changes to the treatment plan that could potentially accelerate that progress.
How do you encourage a teenager to go to therapy?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love while framing therapy as an opportunity to explore a tool that could help improve their life; just like they practice baseball or dance, now they can practice their emotional skills. Give your teen control over the process where you can—maybe by weighing in on choice of therapist and signaling that therapy involves confidentiality, so a parent need not know all that is discussed in sessions.
How do you prepare teens for therapy?
You can prepare your teenager for therapy by describing what the process will look like and setting expectations for timeline, if requested. You can explain that the first session may begin with an assessment phase, that they can describe their experiences but that the therapist will ask questions too, and that it may take time to feel comfortable opening up. Ask how they’re feeling about the process and answer any questions calmly and supportively.
