I am trained in Somatic Psychotherapy, and work with a feminist, kink and sex positive lens.
Life is hard, even when it's going well. And then there are the times that it isn't going well, and we need to expand our network of care. Therapy is a helpful process in both times of life. I work to connect with you, follow your needs, support you in the growth and transformation you crave, and help you through the discomfort that change can bring. I believe in the closeness of dualities, such as trauma and resilience, crying and laughing, masculine and feminine, and seeking ways to get these dualities into a closer and more symbiotic relationship with one another.

I am trained in EMDR and a somatic modality called TRM (Trauma Resiliency Model) that can help restore balance in the nervous system.
My clients are often survivors of trauma, women, and queer folks that are curious about how their experiences have impacted them and come to me to help regulate their nervous systems and begin to accept and heal all parts of themselves. I enjoy working with relationship issues, gender, sexuality, identity, and helping folks restore wholeness after surviving traumatic and upsetting experiences, particularly narcissistic abuse or emotionally immature caregivers. In our work together, we will consider how your nervous system has been impacted by your life experiences and help you move into a space of deeper regulation and self love.

Some of these include Somatic work, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Psychodynamic, and Mindfulness approaches.
I take a holistic and integrative approach to therapy, blending western and eastern healing practices, evidence based approaches, and trauma informed care. I believe that you are the expert of your own life. I will collaborate with you, explore past experiences that have shaped who you are today, and figure out what's keeping you from living the life you want. This isn't always an easy process. It takes courage and hard work, but the rewards are great. I provide an environment that is curious, empathetic, supportive, and down to Earth. I'll help you discover your strengths and become more in-tune with your emotions. You can do this!

Using the practice of Somatic Breathwork, I’ll help guide you to the source of your pain so you can begin the process of healing.
Another wave of anxiety and depression sends you reeling. You hold on tight, waiting for the wave of emotion to pass, but you know that the next one’s right behind it. Out of necessity, you’ve learned some tricks to help you through these trying times but coping with your problems is not the same as dealing with them. You’ve slowly come to accept that the unresolved issues from your past are holding you back, but you don’t know how to access these long-hidden memories. You worry that if you can’t get to the root of your overwhelming emotions, you’ll be forever doomed to struggle with them. Something has to change, and soon.

Somatic Therapists

How does somatic therapy work?

Somatic therapy is a form of treatment that focuses on how the body and mind are interconnected. In this approach, physical symptoms are addressed because they may in fact signal emotional distress. Somatic therapists combine mindfulness, talk therapy, breathwork, yoga, dance, and physical manipulations of the body to help patients become more attuned to what their body is telling them.

Is EMDR a somatic therapy?

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a form of somatic therapy, as it incorporates mental and physical principles. EMDR involves remembering a traumatic experience while allowing one’s eyes to track a side-to-side visual stimulus from a therapist. This lateral eye movement is believed to diminish the painful power of the memory so that it can be discussed with a therapist.

Is somatic therapy evidence-based?

Somatic therapy has been researched and studied, and some forms of somatic therapy are found to be effective in treating a wide range of conditions. Because somatic therapy encompasses many techniques, some, such as EMDR and meditation, have been studied more than others.

What is somatic trauma therapy?

Somatic trauma therapy is based on the idea that when people experience trauma, they can become stuck in the “freeze” part of a “fight, flight, or freeze” response. In this state, trauma can manifest itself both mentally and physically—through tension in the muscles, anxiety, and stress. Popular forms of somatic trauma therapy include EMDR, sensorimotor therapy, and somatic experiencing.
