You already possess the inner resources and capacity needed to heal. At certain times, however, we all need help gaining access to that nurturing capacity: a kind of 'Assisted Self Discovery.' When our minds, bodies, & emotions are all supported together in a safe process of present-oriented exploration, the potential for change is remarkable. I utilize an eclectic approach. Each session is tailored to your unique needs & personal goals. Long-lasting symptom relief/decreased suffering & achieving a more fulfilling life are priorities that guide my work with clients.

It may very well be that our deepest longing and need is for connection. To be heard and understood. To be known in places where many others are never allowed. To be more connected to the lost neglected parts of ourselves and those we care about. You have this opportunity in the safety of psychotherapy. It isn't always an easy road. Perhaps this sounds intimidating. Often it entails letting go of destructive habits or getting unstuck. We may need to look at old patterns and create new ones. There may be moments of laughing, crying, or facing hard truths.

I do take PPO insurance out of network .
Is it hard for you to say no? Is it hard to answer the question “Who am I?” Sometimes it’s so easy to be there for others, and difficult to be there for yourself. If you are in a pattern of empowering others but feeling burned out, you’re not alone and there is hope. There is a way for you to thrive, avoid burnout, and create connections while still being there for yourself. I have seen this transformation happen with my clients, and I would love to talk with you about what is possible.“

My clients are resilient and deep-thinking individuals who hold a lot of responsibility in both their personal and professional lives, and often find themselves experiencing a sense of longing for peace, stillness, and clarity. Because of difficult relationships with family or oppressive childhood experiences, many of us grow into adulthood feeling unsure of our ability to have healthy, loving relationships and a life that is reflective of our deepest needs, values, and desires.

People are dynamic; we are always changing in relation to one another and to our own understanding of who we are. At times, we struggle to understand why we feel the way we do, or why we keep doing things that hold us back. Psychotherapy can uncover our emotions in a way that deepens our self-knowledge and leads to honesty, growth, relief, and positive change.

There can be multiple reasons that bring someone in for a psychotherapy consultation. When a distinct problem occurs (marital separation, depression, a difficult parenting challenge, anxiety over one's relationships, self-destructive thoughts or behaviors, etc.), or, when one becomes aware of more amorphous and global issues in one's life (lack of growth, a pattern of isolation, lack of pleasure, etc.), it is useful to talk to someone with lots of clinical experience to begin to sort out and make sense of what is going on externally as well as internally. Careful listening to your particular situation is the first important step.

Feeling weighed down & responsible for how everyone else around you feels is as exhausting as it is frustrating. You’re tired of the emotional burden of saying “yes” when you really mean “no” & of contorting yourself in whatever way will make others feel most comfortable. Now as you step into a new phase of life as a parent, you worry about setting boundaries with intrusive family members. Your stomach twists into knots and your chest tightens thinking about being bulldozed once again by other’s opinions of your choices. Even worse, you could be seen as "the bad guy" and as being "selfish" for speaking up for what you really need.

Often in life you may find yourself feeling overwhelmed by the many demands of work, relationships and just the day to day of life. There is a feeling of pressure to keep up and perform, which leaves you with a longing to be able to slow down and reconnect with who you really are. You may feel this continued sense of desire for deeper connections with others or maybe it’s this feeling of desire for true connection with yourself. It doesn’t have to feel impossible to be able to find the connection with the things that matter the most to you.

Finding the right therapist from a website is difficult, which is why I offer phone or in-person consultations. It takes courage to address challenges such as relationships, personal problems, or general unhappiness. Your success in treatment will depend on your readiness to open up and my authentic presence that will help create a safe space for you. Together we will work on identifying, experiencing and expanding your capacity to tolerate all ranges of feelings. You will become more conscious of your limiting patterns while developing healthy ones as your sense of a genuine and stronger self emerges.

Are you feeling overwhelmed or anxious? Maybe depression has started to creep in and has made facing daily life feel daunting. Sometimes these feelings make it hard to sleep, or to get out of bed in the morning. Maybe what once felt like an easy task now feels impossible to even think about. Seeking therapy is a great step toward getting the care and support you need to find healing and to build healthy coping skills for managing the ups and downs of life. I am an Associate Clinical Social Worker currently working under the supervision of Aviva Wolfson, LMFT, LPCC at Mindful Pasadena.

Seeking the support of a therapist can be a powerful step toward increasing self-awareness and the ability to change patterns that are no longer working. Change in therapy happens through a process of increased self-understanding, practicing new ways of engaging (with yourself, with others, with a particular problem or set of issues), and development and practice of coping strategies. I collaborate with my clients to identify and work toward treatment goals, using a combination of practical skills and deeper work to explore and repair root issues that may be contributing to current problems.

As a warm and curious therapist, I work with you to explore the inner dynamics of your personal story and to instill a renewed sense of hope. We look closely at self limiting patterns of belief and behavior which are often routed in culture and family- of- origin relationships, and we focus in on your strengths and resiliency. In a compassionate environment we address your specific goals and help you rediscover your authentic and vibrant self so that you may connect more deeply with the loved ones in your life, and with the work and activities that give you your sense of life's meaning.

"I'm not enough" - smart enough, attractive enough, successful enough, popular enough, loved enough, or happy enough. Have you ever had these thoughts? Sometimes our stories are full of shame and scarcity. We feel unworthy, but don't understand where these feelings come from, what drives them, and how to let them go. Therapy is a process of uncovering underlying issues and finding practical ways to provoke change. I will walk alongside you in your loneliness, challenge, or fear, and help you safely overcome struggles.

How can I find a therapist in Pasadena?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Learn more about how to find a therapist.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online or over the phone can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the United States, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

What type of therapist is right for me?

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist, psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
