Life
has a way to take us to somewhere unexpected and requires us to make some changes to find a new balance. It could be something exciting, such as starting college, starting a family, getting promoted at work, etc. It could also be something sad, like ending a relationship, loss of a loved one, or being apart from family. In any case, adjusting to a change in
life
is stressful and can cause anxiety and/or depression. At a time like this, I can provide you with effective coping skills to make transitions easier.

Whether you are a teenager in pain, a pre-college student agonizing to find your major and career, a high-performing professional suddenly searching for meaning of
life
or transition, a premarital couple wanting to check out their relationship before tying the knot, or depressed about self and others, John will work with you in a safe and friendly space.
Do you feel overly anxious or depressed, which is hurting your family, work or happiness itself? Mental health is as important as physical health. So if you need professional help with your mind, just as you would seek a doctor for your physical health, you need to see a mental health therapist. John is passionate about working with individuals and couples on mental issues including stress, anxiety, depression, trauma, disconnection with self and others, hopelessness, abandonment, rejection, betrayal, losses/grief, self value and (pre)marital issues.

(Note: I am NOT the therapist known as "the Angry therapist." We share the same name =) ). I understand how hard it can be to find a quality therapist, counselor, or
life
coach. It is no easy task to find someone who not only understands the issues you are working on, but who also "gets you" as a person. It is my hope to make this search easier. Whether you decide to call me for a free consultation, set up an appointment with me, or let me provide you referral, I hope that after talking with me, you are one step closer to finding the help you seek.

Every moment, it seems that the shape and texture of our world seems to be in a constant state of flux. In the midst of so much change, it can be easy to float above it all and lose our grasp on who we are and who we want to be. Our past relationships and
life
experiences taught us how to respond to these situations and feelings. And we feel stuck, when what we do no longer works to get us the relief we need. I can help bring awareness to these areas of stuckness to help you move towards choices that get you what you want.

I look at things differently. Maybe you're not sure of your "next step": you're contemplating making a shift in your primary relationship; or you work in mental health and are worn out, tired needing clarity on what's next. It could be the past needs to be put to rest so you can soar in the present moment. Is it a major
life
change that has you frustrated, anxious, and struggling? No matter what, you want a safe space because your goal is to feel better, and feel relief from your inner stories and conversation, weighing the pros & cons. Ultimately, you want clarity and viable solutions to live a
life
that is fulfilling and happy.

For parents of children/teens, I offer
coaching
to navigate the inevitable parenting challenges.
Maybe you are coping with a stressful pregnancy? Or grappling with the loss of one? Are you postpartum, feeling unsure, worried, irritable, sad, unable to sleep even when the baby sleeps? Or perhaps, you are further along the parenting continuum, supporting your child through the various developmental stages - toddlerhood, adolescence and beyond. Is that meltdown normal? How do I help my daughter with difficult friendships? Is my teen's behavior typical? How do I tackle their constant internet use? Or maybe you simply want to empower yourself or your child with healthy emotional tools now to prevent potential issues later.

Therapy may be of great benefit not only to help you through a difficult time, but also to help build the
life
you truly desire.
Welcome. I am a Licensed Clinical Psychologist from UCLA providing a wide range of therapeutic services for adults in Pasadena, La Canada Flintridge, Altadena, South Pasadena and San Marino. My secure video online therapy services are available for California residents. My treatment strategies are grounded in the principles of cognitive-behavioral therapy and are focused on helping people succeed at school, work, and home to achieve their short and long-term goals. My focus is primarily on helping people build the lives they desire in the present and future, rather than focusing too heavily on the past.

Needing help, calming your mind, and feeling more peaceful? How about enjoying

I love working with people who are ready to work and grow, and find their way again, or even find yourself for the first time, and to hear your inner voice.

Welcome. In your search for assistance, experience & effectiveness matter. With 50 years practice, mine is a motivational, well-researched method & interactive style. Respecting what is already working, we will focus both on what is going well in your
life
and where you would catalyze your efforts for desired change. The goals may vary; but sharpening perception, connecting more deeply with self & friends, and adjusting old messages that interrupt optimal living are usually involved. I have counseled clients since ‘74, 33 of those years in Seattle, mainly with couples & women who are attracted to a holistic, humanist approach.

Do you wake up each morning feeling excited and enthusiastic in anticipation the day ahead? Or do you find yourself feeling depressed, uninspired , anxious or just unfulfilled? Many people struggle with these feelings, subsequently missing out on what
life
as to offer and what they have to offer to
life
. We are all influenced by our
life
experiences and some of these lead to inaccurate and limited beliefs about ourselves. Once you learn to identify, understand and challenge these beliefs, you change the way you see yourself.

Jeffrey Ly | Porn Addiction Relationship

Pornography addiction can significantly impact your
life
and relationships but there is hope for recovery. I’m not just a mental health professional, I’ve been “you” for many years. I understand firsthand the personal struggles in your
life
and committed relationships that come with uncontrollable pornography use. The endless stream of attractive women a few clicks away on Pornhub, Onlyfan or Social Media is hard to quit even with all your willpower and promise to quit for the sake of your relationship.

Therapy is a courageous choice for improved emotional health and greater well-being. It takes courage to pay focused attention to our inner
life
and to learn to embrace who we really are underneath our symptoms, diagnoses, and fantasies. Lasting change occurs when we bravely face what we usually avoid. As an ISTDP oriented therapist, my clients take an active, truthful stance toward themselves so that they can bear the complexities of their
life
with greater degrees of self-acceptance and self-compassion. As this happens, previously unresolved emotions get resolved and anxiety and other symptoms begin to dissipate.

I am most helpful to mid-
life
women (and their partners when that's appropriate). I help them pick a good partner, create sound relationships, take good care of themselves and ultimately get more of what feeds their soul. I believe it begins with a solid understanding of oneself, how you experience your
life
, and then re-forming your relationships to be more satisfying.

Life Coaching Therapists
What can I expect from life coaching?
Clients and coaches will typically start by identifying the problem area(s) that the client hopes to address—then, the coach will help the client brainstorm potential solutions and explore concrete techniques to help the client attain their goals. Coaching is typically short-term and focused on finding solutions in the here and now, rather than exploring a client’s past. In addition to strategies aimed at the client’s specific concerns, coaches may encourage general stress management techniques such as meditation.
Can a life coach help treat anxiety?
Because the majority of life coaches are not licensed clinicians, they are not qualified to diagnose or treat anxiety. Anyone struggling with anxiety or another mental health condition should seek help from a licensed mental health practitioner. However, some coaching clients who struggle with subclinical anxiety report that working with their coach on other problems—such as career dissatisfaction or unhealthy habits—has a positive effect on their anxiety.
Can life coaching be done online?
Yes. While life coaching often happens in person, many coaches conduct sessions over the phone or via online platforms such as Zoom or Skype. Because life coaches are not subject to local licensing regulations in the same way that therapists are, they are able to see clients who live in other locations.
How long does life coaching last?
Life coaching tends to be a shorter-term process than therapy, though it does not always unfold over a specific period of time and is instead based on the coach’s or the client’s preferences. Coaching often takes place over three to 12 months but may be shorter or longer if necessary.
