Have you ever been lost in a dark forest? You may have felt helpless, out of control, very scared, or confused. Perhaps you suffer from anxiety, depression, and grief . If so you need someone to hold your hand and walk with you until you get home safely. When you are going through very painful suffering, your brokenness can lead you to discover how your childhood wound might affect your self-esteem and your relationships. I like to work with adult women who have been abused as a child, battered women (intimate partner abuse), and young adult women with childhood wounds.

My practice is trauma informed & experienced in the treatment of foster care and adoption-related issues, anxiety, depression, grief and loss , and perinatal mental health.
Together we can explore what it means to be human, to embody compassion towards oneself and others, to hold both joy and sorrow, to experience connection, to move away from internalized messages of shame, to feel liberation, to bridge our past to our future and be present in our experiences and relationships.

With longevity in clinical practice, I work with individuals facing life transitions, grief & loss , depression, anxiety, trauma & other issues that stymie hope and joy, desires & dreams; & life goals.
Living in the moment means letting go of the past & not waiting for the future. It means living your life consciously, aware that each moment you breathe is a gift." -Oprah W. I am a witness to the family stories of trauma, racism, environmental & social injustices that negatively impact family structures. This experience influenced my desire to become a clinician to support the healing process of individuals subject to historical life events & current circumstances which circumvent individuals from accessing their full potentials & their capacity to influence their lives with efficacy.

I work with adults in individual psychotherapy struggling with a variety of life stressors and difficulties such as depression, anxiety, grief and loss , and traumatic events.
As a mental health therapist my goal is to provide empathy and a safe space throughout your journey of self-empowerment and discovery. I am a huge believer in the idea that we all possess the knowledge to self-heal or solve our problems, though sometimes we need a helping professional to find the key to unlocking that knowledge.

My specialties are relationship issues and loss and grief . I have been in practice for over 18 years. I mainly see clients virtually and find it has been just as powerful and proactive as in person. Many clients like the convenience of being able to be in three different locations. In couples therapy, I will help you and your partner identify the conflict issues within your relationship. Couples therapy involves learning how to communicate more effectively, and how to listen more closely. In couples therapy I am proactive and direct helping the couple gain awareness of their "disconnect" by pointing out observed behaviors.

Variety keeps life spicy! I love working with various populations & am always eager to learn more! My specialty is any kind of grief work.
Sometimes life is just too hard. There's confusion and hurt around school, work, relationships, this crazy new world of which we're all trying to make sense. But there's good news too! You are not meant to do this alone. It is my true privilege to be able to walk alongside my clients, helping share the weight of their burdens. Together we will create a place of peace and trust, a relationship full of compassion and encouragement and without judgment (and we'll likely have some laughs together as well!). From there we will work together to find new ways to grow and learn and manage the things that make life hard.

In addition, I specialize in working with people who are living with serious illness or living in the midst of grief .
As a therapist I have witnessed healing and its splendor in the darkest of circumstances and am honored when individuals choose to embark on this journey with me. I know the decision to enter therapy is not always easy. Therapy is not easy. But therapy heals. When you enter therapy you put forth a willingness to acknowledge painful emotions and circumstances and a readiness to explore life events that are often uncomfortable, sometimes even paralyzing. But the insight and meaning you will gain from therapy will lead to transformation, comfort and growth.

I have had extensive experience in supporting those experiencing: grief / loss , intergenerational/cultural, complex trauma, spirituality/faith, anxiety/depression, self-esteem, life transitions, relational/support, identity related issues by tailoring sessions to best suit your needs, to empower going at your own pace.
You are doing it. You are here and that means you are doing it- you're finding a way to get through the day and navigate your own set of life happenings (both chosen and unchosen). We have our sets of vices, our ways of coping, in order to help us survive, with the hope of thriving. But we all get stuck too, we all feel helpless and we all get overwhelmed- we're human. Still, it tends to be a truth that we'll believe for.. a friend, a stranger even, but not ourselves. You deserve to believe you are human, to give yourself room to grow and grieve and heal as a beautiful, imperfect, unique and worthy you. You are worth it.

Grief Therapists

How long does therapy take for grief?

There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?

Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?

Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?

Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
