My work includes services to individuals, families, and groups for a wide range of issues, which include life transitions, depression, anxiety, anger , and altering lifelong relational patterns.
Psychotherapy has a lot to offer to people at any stage in their lives, particularly when they’re going through challenging times. Challenges arise from things that are out of our control and from trauma that we hold from past experiences. Many times, we’re not even aware of what got us to what we are experiencing in the present moment. We’re “stuck” and we don’t know why or we may not even realize we’re “stuck”.

I work with people using the model of codependency/immaturity described by Pia Mellody of The Meadows. Looking at the five core issues of self-esteem, boundaries, reality, dependency, and moderation informs me as my clients "get their histories straight." In other words, I help people understand just how they have gotten to their current circumstances. Codependency, 12-step recovery, sex and pornography addiction, chronic depression and anger management are some of the areas in which I specialize.

I assist clients with life skills, anger management , depression, self-esteem, Domestic violence, Domestic violence awareness, and help parents learn healthy, disciplinary skills to improve parent-child relationship.
I assist clients in developing a clinical understanding of their emotions/behaviors in the context of their relationships with others. Assisting clients to understand the connection between their thoughts, feelings and responses helps them gain control over themselves and their environment. When life happens, and we are in the midst of chaos, our brain gets stuck and begins to believe that there are no options available; but sometimes we need a push, an emotional support, or just someone to talk to, to help us un-knot the chaos in our mind.Life skills are essential problem-solving behaviors that we need to manage our lives properly.

I am dedicated to providing the highest quality psychotherapy services to my clients. I believe it is essential to provide psychotherapy that is based on the latest scientific research. You deserve nothing less. In my practice, I only use cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). CBT has been proven through more than 400 clinical outcome studies to be highly effective for the treatment of many mental health concerns including depression, general anxiety disorders, panic, anger and marital distress. CBT is one of the few forms of psychotherapy that has been scientifically tested and shown to help people improve their lives.

Anger , shame, anxiety, depression, and perfectionism are emotions and traits that can be caused by trauma. Unresolved trauma can negatively affect our current relationships and family dynamics. My goal as a therapist is to collaborate with you in order to manage trauma-related symptoms and reach a more meaningful state. I utilize a client-centered approach in order to create a safe space for my clients to process unresolved feelings/reactions. Forming a meaningful connection allows us to create a space that welcomes vulnerability, and the therapeutic relationship is just as important as the therapeutic modality.

Childhood trauma can cripple us, it creates overpowering ‘intense’ emotions such as anxiety, depression, and anger when left unattended which begins to create physical symptoms to defend our bodies from the internal wounds. Has there ever been a time in your life where you have experienced this reaction? Are you experiencing these feelings based on current or past trauma from childhood, early teens, adolescence, adulthood, or as a senior? I aim to utilize a variety of actionable techniques to help reduce trauma related symptoms and make lasting changes in life.

Utilizing a strengths based approach, together we can create positive change in areas such as: self-esteem, healthy boundaries, overcoming depression and anxiety, assertiveness, communication, anger management , grief, as well as working on parenting issues.
Now accepting new clients for telehealth or outdoor sessions. "Ultimately it is the quality of our relationships that will determine the quality of our lives" - Esther Perel. Our relationships are everything. When our connections with each are not what we hope for, it is natural to feel unsteady in the world or even sad or anxious. We often get in our own way from finding and maintaining our deepest connections with those we love. Looking to our past can give us clues to our future and how to "live our best lives" (I think Oprah coined that one!). I offer telehealth sessions as well as outdoor sessions in a local park TBD.

The people I work with are mostly struggling with their depression, anxiety (including panic attacks), anger or pain often accompanied by other medical conditions and/or history of substance use. They may have conflicted relationship or fear of intimacy with partner, family, friends or co-workers on the job. They are doing their best but struggling to build their lives that are stable, meaningful and enjoyable. They often come when they are facing new challenges of life and feeling overwhelmed; and after having tried helping themselves and having sought out the help from their friends, family and/or other professionals.

In addition to family and couples therapy, I frequently see individuals with a range of emotional issues, including depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, and anger .
My passion is conducting therapy with Asians, both immigrants and Asian-Americans. As a Taiwanese-American therapist, I am well-versed in the family dynamics of Asian culture. I am also experienced in dealing with parent-child conflicts between first-generation Chinese parents and their westernized second-generation teenagers and adult children. My work centers on helping parents and children recognize their cultural differences in order to better understand one another and maintain healthy relationships. Sessions may be in either Mandarin and English.

Anger Management Therapists

How long does therapy take for anger management?

Treatment duration depends on the person’s specific challenges and circumstances. There are treatments for anger problems that are shorter and more goal-oriented, like cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), which can last weeks to months. Others, like dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) may last between six months and a year, while a more intensive treatment, like psychodynamic therapy, is open-ended, and clients may see their therapist for a year or longer.

How do you know if you need therapy for anger management?

Everyone gets mad from time to time. But when angry outbursts become frequent and cause damage to relationships, whether at home or in the office, it may be a good time to look into therapy. A therapist can assess where a client’s anger may be coming from, suggest strategies for averting angry outbursts, and help a client create a plan to become a calmer version of themselves.

Is there medication for anger management?

Medications do exist that help people mitigate the feeling of anger, but these are reserved for people with anger-related psychiatric disorders, such as intermittent explosive disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, or in some cases borderline personality disorder. In these cases, antidepressant medications may be prescribed to help with the client’s symptoms. In most cases of anger management, however, talk therapy is the recommended treatment, along with lifestyle changes where relevant.

What’s the best way to encourage someone to seek help for anger issues?

It’s helpful to express your concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual’s behavior affected either themselves or others should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
