I think most of us realize that life can be challenging, working through the trauma(s) large or small that we may have experienced throughout our lives, and dealing with our relationships with family (our partners, our children, our parents and/or other family members), friends and our jobs. My approach to therapy has been based the belief that that we each have an ability to heal, and that we each have an inner wisdom and intuition to know what we each need to work on and to know when we are ready to work on particular issues.

I consider it a privilege to help people get unstuck from patterns or inner struggles that no longer serve them, and move toward greater clarity, purpose, and enjoyment in life. During times of stress or uncertainty, I support clients in finding stability, grounding, and renewed connection with themselves. I have experience helping adults with addiction, anxiety, depression, trauma-related distress, and relationship challenges. Clients often describe developing self-compassion and unlearning long-held narratives about themselves as among the most meaningful parts of our work.

While I have trained extensively in different therapy models, which has provided me with an in-depth psychological reference, many years of working with people has taught me relationship is central to the heart of therapy. Relationship with oneself, relationship with the therapist and my relationship with myself. The creation of an authentic relationship is a personal process that requires an open heart and an informed sensitive approach. I enjoy getting to know people. Learning about and developing relationship with my clients as well as participating in their growth brings richness to my life.I look forward to meeting you.

Life can bring us all to a standstill — but for some of us, finding our way forward feels far more difficult than it should. Anxiety, depression, past trauma, or wounds that never quite healed can quietly compound our pain, leaving us questioning ourselves and wondering why relief seems so out of reach. This can feel especially true for those who have spent a lifetime seeking approval from family, only to feel unseen or unsupported in return. And for those who have always prided themselves on handling things alone, these burdens can feel heavier still.

Primary Interest: Helping those struggling with emotions related to separation and loss, abandonment issues, attachment wounds, low self-esteem, and unresolved grief. Psychological distress arises when emotional experience is treated as something to control, suppress, or escape. Yet emotions signal our deepest relational needs. When emotional experience is misunderstood or avoided, such needs remain unrecognized and a person may become increasingly disconnected from others, as well as themselves. My work is to help develop a better relationship with the living, emotional truth of one's own being.

We see the world in a certain way in large part because of what we have lived. Recognizing why we see the world the way we do can help us to see ourselves and our experiences with more compassion. Our natural state is not to be in a state of distress. To see our self and the world we live in as they truly are takes an adjustment and practice. I can help with that.

Until today, you have been able to successfully handle whatever life throws at you. But a newly difficult diagnosis, strained relationship, personal struggle or trauma has changed everything, and you just feel mentally and emotionally exhausted, heartbroken or alone…but it doesn’t have to keep hurting this much. I know how life can feel hopeful and optimistic one day, only to feel emotionally devastated and uncertain about the future the next. You go from feeling like you can handle everything, to feeling like you can handle nothing. When you suffer, it feels like everything in your life suffers. Starting therapy can help.

Life doesn't always unfold the way we expect. At certain points - during transitions, losses, relationship challenges, or periods of uncertainty - we may find ourselves questioning who we are, where we're going, or how to move forward. Therapy offers a space to slow down, reflect, and better understand the patterns and experiences shaping your life. I provide psychotherapy for adults and older adults seeking deeper self-understanding, emotional relief, and meaningful change. My approach is collaborative, thoughtful, and grounded in curiosity rather than judgement.

Taking new clients now! Greetings, future clients. I work from a gestalt perspective believing that to overcome struggles, you need the awareness to know, respect, and accept their authentic selves. I encourage clients to view themselves as their best possible selves and will meet and challenge you with both empathy and genuineness as we explore your story together. I use Gestalt, Narrative, CBT, IFS, SE, and Gottman therapy to name a few. (Please note I work full-time at New Day in Yuba City, in-person and online, as well as part time through Headway online; so some insurances/payments vary by agency)

The rest of the world looks at you and thinks you have it all together, but you have been tirelessly juggling all the demands of your family, profession, and life in general and you're exhausted: mentally, spiritually, and emotionally. Your entire life you've been considered the successful one who makes all the right choices and is the person your friends and family look up to. There's no room for failure. You don't feel you have any choices, so you suck it up and keep moving forward. You don't even have time for therapy, even though you know you deserve to work on yourself. You don't have to carry your burdens alone anymore.

FAQ - Therapist Gender
As a man, why might I want to see a male therapist?
There are many reasons a man might wish to work with a male therapist, including a degree of shared identity, which may help client and therapist connect to each other and allow for a more free-flowing discussion of issues that can be deeply personal. Some men may feel more comfortable talking to a male therapist about relationship concerns, the pressures they feel around the roles society and family place on men, career or job challenges, self-esteem, or anger problems. For some men who have not had a male role models in their lives, a good male therapist may be especially helpful.

How can I find out about a therapist’s experience treating men?
Individuals looking for treatment should feel comfortable directly asking a therapist about their history treating men overall and the issues that arise in therapy with men. A good therapist will be happy to discuss such matters as well as their educational background, approach to treatment, and how they think they can aid a prospective client.

Can clients benefit from having a therapist of the same gender?
Therapy is not gender-specific, but some men as well as women feel more comfortable opening up about their experiences and history with therapists of a specific gender. An individual may feel that they have to explain less background information and be on the same page more quickly, particularly when discussing gender-specific challenges. That said, a good clinician can transcend most if not all gender concerns. Ultimately, the most important factor in therapy is the connection and trust the client is able to build with the practitioner.

Would a male therapist have specific training in treating men?
Generally, no. There are no certifications for treating men specifically, but there are continuing education classes that therapists may take that focus on treating men as a group. There are many therapists who focus on men and male issues in their treatment and therefore have experience and expertise in this domain.
