Meditation, somatic experiencing, inquiry, dreamwork, are all ways of accessing inner material for discovery, healing, greater clarity and deeper knowing.
It's a courageous step to seek therapy. And the second step is to find the right therapist. A therapist who is engaged with you in healing psychic wounds (that may cause anxiety, depression, health issues) as well as attuning to the unfolding of your potential. I have 30 years of clinical experience as a depth therapist, was Program Chair for six years and now core faculty, and Associate Professor in the Integral Counseling Program at CIIS in SF. I received my MA from Boston College in Massachusetts and PhD from the Institute of Transpersonal Psychology in Palo Alto, CA.

I view therapy as a means of deepening self-knowledge, part of which involves recognizing the messages your body sends you. Well-versed in the language of the body, I facilitate the process of reintegration—learning to listen to what your body has to tell you, translating these messages, and using the information from your somatic experience in your decision-making process. While I enjoy the conversational component of therapy, I structure our sessions to incorporate mindfulness. I believe we can achieve greater mental health and well-being when we slow down enough to notice our patterns, both behavioral and physical.

I have MA in Somatic psychology & MA in Dance therapy.
Are you feeling stuck, frustrated or helpless? Weren’t affirmations or self-talk helpful? It’s because we can't access our full Self from a cognitive level. The body reflects mind & stores memories including trauma. This unconsciously disrupts nervous system & our natural ability for balance & regulation leading to symptoms like anxiety, depression, etc. Symptoms seem like “traits" when they aren’t contextualized in developmental, interpersonal & social layers. We will co-create a nourishing space to unravel somatic stories, identify triggers, patterns & skills to realign with your innate wisdom to move helplessness to empowerment.

Trained in internal family systems, CBT, DBT, somatic therapies, nutrition, & the promising field of psychedelic assisted therapy, I offer these & other tools to help you be present, master your nervous system, & return to yourself.
While there are many reasons people seek therapy, one thought is central: something has to change. You may be a goal-oriented individual who has always been able to work through problems on your own, but now something feels different. You feel stuck, and the things that used to help no longer do. Change is not easy, but it is possible. As a clinical psychologist, I work collaboratively with you to build the insight, tools, and confidence to develop new patterns & behaviors. We will work to identify the source of your pain and empower you to resolve it using evidenced-based treatments in a supportive, action-oriented environment.

I use evidence-based treatments along with somatic & experiential work, including Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) when working with couples.
Do you struggle with anxiety, acting on impulse, low mood, food rules, emotional eating, or body image? Are intimate relationships, family life, or friendships challenging to maintain? Is it difficult to communicate with your partner and feel genuinely seen and heard? Therapy is a space in which you can deepen your understanding of emotions and work with them rather than against them. You’ll have an opportunity to tune into your inner world so you can respond rather than react in the situations that matter the most. What’s more, improving your emotional health often radiates outward and touches the ones you love.

Somatic Therapists
How does somatic therapy work?
Somatic therapy is a form of treatment that focuses on how the body and mind are interconnected. In this approach, physical symptoms are addressed because they may in fact signal emotional distress. Somatic therapists combine mindfulness, talk therapy, breathwork, yoga, dance, and physical manipulations of the body to help patients become more attuned to what their body is telling them.
Is EMDR a somatic therapy?
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a form of somatic therapy, as it incorporates mental and physical principles. EMDR involves remembering a traumatic experience while allowing one’s eyes to track a side-to-side visual stimulus from a therapist. This lateral eye movement is believed to diminish the painful power of the memory so that it can be discussed with a therapist.
Is somatic therapy evidence-based?
Somatic therapy has been researched and studied, and some forms of somatic therapy are found to be effective in treating a wide range of conditions. Because somatic therapy encompasses many techniques, some, such as EMDR and meditation, have been studied more than others.
What is somatic trauma therapy?
Somatic trauma therapy is based on the idea that when people experience trauma, they can become stuck in the “freeze” part of a “fight, flight, or freeze” response. In this state, trauma can manifest itself both mentally and physically—through tension in the muscles, anxiety, and stress. Popular forms of somatic trauma therapy include EMDR, sensorimotor therapy, and somatic experiencing.
