I work with communication issues, stuck relationship patterns, depression, anxiety, trauma, PTSD, OCD, and
parenting
/co-
parenting
issues.
Sometimes it takes the gentle mirroring of another person to help see what is no longer working in our lives. Habits formed to survive difficult childhoods may be wrecking havoc. Communication styles may be sabotaging love. We may feel overwhelmed in
parenting
, or facing a big life transition. I work closely with my clients to increase communication skills and develop greater personal awareness. I teach nervous system regulation in order to stay calm and effective during conflict, difficult conversations, and life transitions. From therapy you’ll learn to operate from wholeness and authenticity, and gain acceptance for self/others.

Experience passion in your marriage and fun in your family. You've spent years building an exceptional family, career, and life but recently have hit a snag. I also have personal experience of
parenting
neurodivergent children (special needs) and being a caregiver.
It's exhausting to feel overwhelmed! Some days it feels like one more thing will push you over the edge. While you know that the constant state of stress is not healthy, you don't know what other options you have with everything that's on your plate. It could be from the stress of
parenting
, being a caregiver for a loved one, or just a life that feels unmanageable. It often feels impossible to appreciate or enjoy what you have because you are stuck with too much to handle on any given day. You know there's another way, but you haven't been able to consistently get there. You are frustrated and tired of feeling this way.

In addition, I am the
parent
(and spouse) of individuals with ADHD, Sensory Issues, Dyslexia, Anxiety and OCD.
I am particularly effective in working with bright and highly sensitive teens. During this pandemic, I believe that our most perceptive, sensitive adolescents are having the biggest mental health challenges with not seeing friends, family, and teachers on a more regular basis. I have extensive experience as a School Counselor in both private and public schools in the SF Bay Area. I also have designed and taught Social and Emotional Learning at several private schools. My ideal client is a teen facing the obstacles of anxiety, depression, learning challenges or social skills challenges at school or home.

I have a particular expertise in early, formative trauma and PTSD. Thus, I assist individuals and couples with working on and through the early relational harm and hardships that continue to impact or impede their current relationships and functioning. In addition, I provide care for people suffering from depression and anxiety, eating disorders, and general life stressors and challenges. I also have extensive experience working with addictions. I truly enjoy being in relationship with individuals and their families in what I believe to be sacred work, and look forward to speaking with you about entering into this process together.

As a therapist, I look for the basic goodness of human beings and try to bring clients having locus of control in their lives and share perspectives leading clients to feel liberated so they find the meaning of life; fulfillment and happiness. This takes practice, as our minds naturally scan for the negative, but if we try, we can almost always find something good about you and others which will lead us to heal and peace and may bring harmony and joy to our life. Personally, I enjoy reading books regarding history and philosophy. I have a strong passion for helping children and adults, including
parenting
issues.

Guidance in these turbulent times.
Wellbeing is enhanced through connection, freedom and purpose. Therapy done right builds on personal connection, finds unrecognized freedoms, and orients it all with purpose, values and place. My therapeutic stance integrates these threads with unusual openness, warmth, balanced intellect and wit. My practice cultivates resilience not dependence, vitality not the victim trap ideology that has taken over the field. I can help you acknowledge and overcome painful situations, reckon realistically with limits, and untangle other matters of the heart. Pain is a part of life, but you needn’t suffer or manage alone.

Parenting
is the world's hardest job without training -- and it's extra-hard if you have a "difficult" child or are trying to break a generational
parenting
cycle.
If you have a "challenging" child (e.g., defiant, strong-willed, sensitive, ADHD, explosive) you need support. I train parents to raise their child(ren) without yelling, shame, blame, bribes or threats – even if they are stuck in these cycles right now. Having a difficult child makes
parenting
harder than usual, but you can learn how to get your whole family to thrive, not just survive. I know you want positive, loving bonds with your kids for life - let's get started! To book a free consult visit: www.lainelipsky.com/call

I also enjoy helping parents navigate the challenges of
parenting
, from infancy through the teen years.
East meets West. It is a phrase we hear often but how does it translate into practice? The pull lies in the strength of the familiar; the push is an urge to create space and jump into the unfamiliar. As an individual who was raised between two cultures, I offer a warm and safe space to discuss cultural competency as it relates to your life. Retaining your cultural values and traditions while simultaneously assimilating to the societal norms of your geographic upbringing can lead to many questions about ourselves in the past, present and future. I believe strongly in your ability to grow if nurtured in an encouraging environment.

I offer a nurturing environment for clients to explore what is preventing them from being happy with how they handle life,
parenting
, work and relationships.
Are you yearning for a more joyful life and more connected relationships? Perhaps you have patterns that are getting in the way of connection and joy bc of difficult past experiences. I provide a warm, accepting environment to allow for clients to clear negative experience, regulate their nervous system and start living in the present. I have a certification in brainspotting, a neuroexperiential model which has been shown to reduce and even eliminate symptoms of trauma, anxiety, and depression. I also have a bachelors degree in music therapy so using music and other expressive arts are available to clients. Expressive arts retreats

Parenting Therapists
What does therapy for parenting look like?
Therapists may work with parents individually, together, or include the whole family to find solutions for the problems a parent faces. Many parent-based therapies work on a parent’s relationship with their children, problem-solving within the family, and analysis of family dynamics. Therapy conducted remotely by video may be helpful in allowing a therapist to observe how families interact in their own homes.
When should a parent seek therapy?
When behavioral problems begin to disrupt the healthy functioning of a family, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If parents find that children are acting out in school, have started using drugs or alcohol, have developed eating disorders, or other similar red flags, a therapist may be able to help.
How long does therapy take for parenting problems?
Depending on the severity of a family’s challenges and the type of treatment utilized, therapy for parenting can last from weeks to months. Cognitive behavioral therapy is a pragmatic therapy type that can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. Structural family therapy, which inspects family dynamics, often takes several months. Parent-child interaction therapy is typically shorter-term, lasting between 10 and 20 sessions. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realized.
Can therapy help parents dealing with burnout or stress?
Parenting is difficult. Parents may dismiss or conceal feelings of exhaustion, overwhelm, or escape ideation—imagining withdrawing from their parental obligations altogether. but left unattended, these feelings can have negative effects on the whole family. A therapist can help parents work on the skills they might need to better cope with the burdens of parenting and help them be the best parents they can be.
