Somatic Therapists in Palm Desert, CA
Maybe you’re used to being the strong one — the one who shows up for everyone else, keeps things together, and pushes through even when it’s hard. On the outside, things might look “fine,” but internally you feel overwhelmed, anxious, or disconnected from yourself.
I’m a licensed therapist specializing in EMDR therapy for anxiety, trauma, and stress. I work with adult, teens, and families who are ready to move beyond just coping and begin truly healing. Many of my clients come in feeling stuck in patterns like overthinking, people-pleasing, emotional shutdown, or feeling triggered in ways they don’t fully understand.

I integrate attachment-based therapy, somatic tools, and nervous-system education to support anxiety regulation and emotional safety.
You’re the one who keeps the house running, remembers the schedules, and manages everyone’s emotions. From the outside, you have it all together. But internally, you’re exhausted, overwhelmed, and feel like your nervous system never turns off. You love your family deeply, but the "invisible load" of parenting, work, and life has left you running on empty. You want to stop reacting in ways you regret and start feeling like yourself again. You’re looking for more than "self-care" tips; you want to understand why you feel so stuck in survival mode and how to finally find a sense of true internal calm.

Hello and thanks for your time, attention and ultimately your courage and commitment to healing. We all need a little help sometimes. For nearly 20 years, I've been a therapeutic guide for my clients - often facilitating profound change and forward movement resulting in healthier, happier lives for themselves and those around them. I am both a deep and heart-centered listener; and an active and involved therapist. You'll usually leave with some type of homework if you're open to that... even if it's just observing some aspect of your life more closely and reporting back on it.

Many couples come to therapy because the same conflict keeps repeating and they can’t seem to interrupt the pattern on their own.
Does this sound familiar?
A conversation starts small but quickly escalates. One partner pursues, the other withdraws. Someone feels criticized. Someone shuts down. Over time the pattern becomes so familiar that the relationship itself begins to feel like the problem.
My work focuses on slowing that pattern down in real time so both partners can see what is happening beneath the conflict and begin responding differently.

Using integrative methods like EMDR, Brainspotting, Internal Family Systems (IFS), and somatic-based therapies.
When you’ve spent your life showing up for everyone else, holding it together, succeeding on the outside, but quietly unraveling inside, it can be hard to imagine a life where you get to be the one held, heard, & understood.
Maybe you're navigating the fallout of a painful relationship, carrying old stories that keep replaying, or silently managing anxiety, burnout, or grief. You’ve likely tried to talk yourself into feeling better, only to realize healing doesn’t happen in your head, it happens in your nervous system, your relationships, & your sacred story.

Somatic Therapists
How does somatic therapy work?
Somatic therapy is a form of treatment that focuses on how the body and mind are interconnected. In this approach, physical symptoms are addressed because they may in fact signal emotional distress. Somatic therapists combine mindfulness, talk therapy, breathwork, yoga, dance, and physical manipulations of the body to help patients become more attuned to what their body is telling them.
Is EMDR a somatic therapy?
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a form of somatic therapy, as it incorporates mental and physical principles. EMDR involves remembering a traumatic experience while allowing one’s eyes to track a side-to-side visual stimulus from a therapist. This lateral eye movement is believed to diminish the painful power of the memory so that it can be discussed with a therapist.
Is somatic therapy evidence-based?
Somatic therapy has been researched and studied, and some forms of somatic therapy are found to be effective in treating a wide range of conditions. Because somatic therapy encompasses many techniques, some, such as EMDR and meditation, have been studied more than others.
What is somatic trauma therapy?
Somatic trauma therapy is based on the idea that when people experience trauma, they can become stuck in the “freeze” part of a “fight, flight, or freeze” response. In this state, trauma can manifest itself both mentally and physically—through tension in the muscles, anxiety, and stress. Popular forms of somatic trauma therapy include EMDR, sensorimotor therapy, and somatic experiencing.
