Brainspotting is very effective for virtually any condition or diagnosis.
I use a combination of evidence-based practices including psychoeducation to build understanding, somatic (or body-based) skills to manage trauma responses, and Brainspotting, which promotes deep healing in the brain from the effects of trauma and many other forms of distress.

My approach to therapy is based on Psychodynamic training and can incorporate Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), Biofeedback, & Brainspotting (BSP), allowing for a more profound healing than talk therapy.
You can’t stop thinking about it; just the thought of it turns you on. You’re a kinky person, and you picture yourself having all those "nasty things" done to you; the beads of sweat roll down your chest, you try to catch your breath, and the big O happens... You’re instantly filled with shame. You’re scared, not sure how to embrace this side of yourself, feeling lost and confused; sex is no longer fun, and it’s lost its appeal. This is supposed to be fun, but you’re filled with fear and anxiety, confused, trying to figure it out all on your own. Something has to change. Things don’t have to continue this way; I can help.

Would you like to feel more fully alive? I come from a mindfulness-based healing perspective integrating body, mind and spirit. Together we explore the "roadblocks" that all of us unknowingly put up which use up our energy, cloud our vision of our life's purpose and prevent us from having authentic, meaningful and fulfilling lives. Healing and an improved sense of well-being can happen!

I tend to weave in & combine various brain based modalities such as: Guided Imagery, Bi-Lateral Stimulation & Resourcing, EMDR, Parts Work, BrainSpotting, and Expressive Art Therapies; all within an attachment based, humanistic, person centered framework.
There are times in life when our paths lead us off course and we find ourselves struggling with serious issues like negativity, depression, worry, anxiety, interpersonal relational issues, difficulty with co-workers or unfulfilling marriages. Some of us struggle with unresolved trauma from our past, leaving us feeling distant, disconnected and alone. No matter how difficult your current situation seems, I believe that it is always possible to get back on track and feel better. In my years specializing in domestic violence, eating disorders and trauma related therapy, I have helped individuals, couples and families overcome multiple obstacles.

Some types, such as EMDR, Brainspotting, and KAP are used for the resolution of PTSD or unprocessed trauma.
My clients come to me when they're experiencing emotional and/or mental distress and just want the pain to stop...now. They are sleep-deprived (or the opposite), stressed over college, depressed about work, angry or indifferent to everyone, anxious, frustrated by everything! Their stomachs hurt and heads ache. The problems may stem from unmet needs (love, belonging, self-esteem), various issues (trauma, anxiety, addiction, depression, chronic pain) or not meeting personal or life goals. While change can feel difficult and scary, you can learn powerful, safe ways through as you progress to becoming the person you truly want to be.

Finding the right psychologist is the most important part of the therapeutic process. What might be right for one might not be right for another. In addition to being a licensed Psychologist, I have received additional training in EMDR therapy for trauma as well as non-opiate approaches to pain management. I have worked with individuals seeking recovery from drug and alcohol addiction as well as couples and families. I have also worked with individuals who are just looking to navigate the storm, short term therapy to see them through a specific challenge or to gain insight and a new perspective on what may be a long standing issue.

When we are feeling depressed, anxious, frustrated or stagnant, that’s a signal that something is pinching us off from our natural wellbeing. What is that thing or things? Psychotherapy is one pathway to understanding. Through therapeutic conversation, we will explore different ideas and experiment with new thoughts & behaviors to unpinch ourselves and allow our natural wellbeing to flow. And, as we feel increased satisfaction about our life, we are open to increased satisfaction in our relationships, work and future.

I am trained in Brainspotting (phases 1 and 2), which is a trauma-informed therapeutic intervention.
As a therapist, I would describe myself as empowering, passionate, & intuitive. My approach to therapy is influenced by how societal norms and expectations make you feel like you have to limit or repress your uniqueness and your authentic self. I believe in creating a therapeutic environment where you can liberate your inner child through honoring your cultures and dismantling oppressive systems. One of my strengths as a therapist is my dedication as your personal advocate. I often work with the 1.5 immigrant generation, teens, & young adults from marginalized communities who are coping with loneliness and exhaustion from the world.

How does brainspotting work?

Brainspotting works by using eye positioning to identify and process traumatic memories so that a client is better able to move forward and live with less fear. The theory behind brainspotting is that by identifying where a person looks when thinking of traumatic memories, a therapist will be able to guide them to focus on that spot and work with the client to get them out of the “fight, flight, freeze” response associated with the traumatic memory.

Is brainspotting an evidence-based therapy?

Brainspotting is a theory-based alternative therapy. It is one of the newest forms of treatment, so very little research has been completed that examines the mechanism by which it works. The theory behind brainspotting is that eye position can be linked to areas of the brain that store and process memory.

How effective is brainspotting?

Because it is such a new treatment, the effectiveness of brainspotting cannot be quantified. Some people have found it to be effective on its own, or in conjunction with other types of therapy. It is considered an alternative therapy, and it is popular with people for whom more traditional therapies have proven ineffective.

How long does brainspotting take to work?

A typical brainspotting session will last between 60 to 90 minutes. There is no required number of sessions needed to complete brainspotting therapy, but in many cases it is delivered over the course of about six sessions. Clients are encouraged to rate their level of distress prior to a session and again following a session, and to track progress.
