I can offer psychodynamic approaches (inner child work) for the reduction of trauma; basic CBT and DBT strategies for reducing anxiety and depression; and ART (accelerated resolution therapy) for PTSD resolution.
Often the clients I work with are individuals with childhood trauma who wish to resolve these painful experiences and heal. I also work with clients grappling with codependency in relationships with spouses, friends and family. I can be an added source of support to clients who are already in recovery doing 12 step work, supporting their efforts to stay clean/sober. And I often work with clients experiencing life transitions and changes.

I am so excited for you that you decided to do this! Investing in you is the best choice you could ever make! I am not a regular therapist. I use a holistic approach to help you. What that means is that I come from the perspective of what you have been through in your life gets stuck in your body and you will continue to relive it until you know what it is and I help you to relieve it. By doing this, you start to experience life as it is, instead of having the filter from your past or the anxiety about your future. I am here to help you. Are you hungry for change? Buckle up and enjoy your life, let me help. :)

I am licensed in Marriage and Family Therapy in Texas and California, a nationally registered Art Therapist and a board certified Tele-health provider with a focus in sexual health.
Adapting to constant change can be a struggle for all of us. As we work to balance our time and energy, it is easy to become overwhelmed, fighting to manage our self-care. Whether confronting a medical diagnosis, changes in your body due to pregnancy, aging or menopause, new discoveries about your sexuality, gender identity or relationships, you may feel depleted. Most of us reached adulthood lacking knowledge about some of the most challenging aspects of the human experience, making it hard to know where to receive support. You are not alone. I provide a nonjudgemental space to explore your experiences and learn tools to cope.

I tend to weave in & combine various brain based modalities such as: Guided Imagery, Bi-Lateral Stimulation & Resourcing, EMDR, Parts Work, BrainSpotting, and Expressive Art Therapies; all within an attachment based, humanistic, person centered framework.
There are times in life when our paths lead us off course and we find ourselves struggling with serious issues like negativity, depression, worry, anxiety, interpersonal relational issues, difficulty with co-workers or unfulfilling marriages. Some of us struggle with unresolved trauma from our past, leaving us feeling distant, disconnected and alone. No matter how difficult your current situation seems, I believe that it is always possible to get back on track and feel better. In my years specializing in domestic violence, eating disorders and trauma related therapy, I have helped individuals, couples and families overcome multiple obstacles.

Depending on client's concerns, I will utilize different techniques (eclecticism therapy) such as CBT to art therapy to psychodynamic because honestly each person unique without a "one size fits all".
I have a passion for therapy as I grew up with it. Therapy was there for me as a child, teenager and even now as an adult through life most simple to most complex challenges. I cannot make absolute guarantees on outcome of therapy like any therapist however I strive to offer genuine support and guidance to improve your mental health.

Art Therapy

How does art therapy work?

The process of making art allows people to express themselves. Art-making can take many forms, such as painting, collage, or sculpting. The therapist asks questions that the work elicits, such as how the person felt while creating their piece, or if any memories surfaced that they can discuss. The therapist will then work with the patient to process their experience, understand themselves better, and work toward change.

Does art therapy help with trauma?

Art therapy can be a valuable treatment option for those suffering from trauma. Traumatic experiences such as combat, rape, or childhood abuse can be so painful that articulating them can be too scary or painful; creating art allows people to express themselves without words, and tell their story in a different way. The physical nature of creating art can also help people feel rooted in the body, which may benefit those who feel disconnected from their body in the aftermath of trauma.

How long does art therapy last?

The duration of art therapy varies, but a common length for treatment is 10 to 15 weekly sessions. Some people may see improvement in just a few weeks, while others may choose to remain in therapy longer term. Patients should periodically discuss their goals with their therapist to make sure the two are aligned on process and progress.

What are the limitations of art therapy?

Art therapy is helpful for many people, but a limitation is that it doesn’t have as robust an evidence base as other forms of therapy, such as cognitive behavioral therapy or acceptance and commitment therapy. The evidence on art therapy is mixed; some research demonstrates its benefits, while other research suggests that it has little impact on patients.
