Healthy relationships with
family
, friends, colleagues, and ourselves help us to cope with stress more easily and endure life’s challenges with grace.
I seek to offer a welcoming and safe space for you to explore your sense of self and the challenges you may be facing. Due to symptoms that hinder our ability to solve problems and thrive, we can become blocked from experiencing the full range of human emotion. Our sessions will increase your capacity to feel joy, playfulness and a sense of purpose in your life. My therapeutic style is collaborative, transparent and playful while using an integrative mind-body approach. I will encourage you to tap into the creativity and openness that allows you to gain new perspective and discover your own capacity to make meaningful change.

I am inspired by clients who decide they want to grow, change, or improve their quality of life. I bring the same drive toward health and the pursuit of happiness. I feel clients have often suffered more than enough, but often don't know how their life or circumstances could feel different. Relationship, through therapy, shows the way.

All relationships are hard, intimate relationships even more so. So many unmet needs, unrecognized wants, can make you feel lost and alone. You just can't keep going like this! The fights are ugly, or they don't happen at all. Living at the speed of life, you have drifted apart and don't know how to bring it back together. Maybe it is just feeling disconnected, maybe it was an affair. You just know that you need help to make it better, to make it what you had dreamed it would be. The good news is that you don't have to do it alone. Tenderness and passion are just around the corner!

Relationships are hard. Maybe you feel ignored and unseen, so you get angry, say things you regret, storm out of the room, or give the cold shoulder. Or maybe it was an affair or an addiction. Stuck in the same fights, feeling defeated, alone, and disappointed you wonder, “how did we get here?” You want to stay with your partner, but you are not sure how...the way things are going. The good news is that you do not need to walk this road alone. You do not need to sit in your relationship believing there is no hope. The truth is no one steps into a relationship or marriage with all the tools one needs to thrive!

Are you uncertain about making the right choices for your child? Maybe you’ve been wondering what their future will look like if they’re constantly struggling now. Most parents feel as though they have a lack of information and understanding of why their child struggles and how to make it better. Watching your child suffer and feeling hopeless to know how to help is heartbreaking. A part of you knows that things should be better, but you’re seeing little progress and may even be dissatisfied with the current services your child has been offered.

Family Therapy
What do family therapists do?
A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.
How long does therapy for families take to work?
Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.
How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?
You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.
Is therapy for families effective?
Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
