I am proud to say that having a diverse heritage (Chinese and Mexican) and a diverse
family
(Filipino, African American, White, and Native American) provides me with a unique insight in my approach towards counseling and helping others.
The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. By considering therapy, you are taking that first step. I feel that a true counselor on this journey will recognize that each person is unique yet faces familiar challenges. I would like to help you learn about yourself, discover how and why you are feeling the way you do, and how you can effect change - the way you relate to yourself, your
family
, your work and others. I also have over 10 years experience working with children and their parents with behavioral and emotional issues, including trauma and ADD.

At times life hands out challenges that aren't meant to be handled alone. While some might seek out support from
family
and friends, others might not have someone to turn to or struggle reaching out for help. Fear of judgement and not feeling heard, prevents some from receiving the support that they need. I am her to provide that help and support without judgement. I am here to provide the space to speak and be heard.

Life presents us many challenges. Sometimes, we become overwhelmed with how to navigate them. Whether you are a parent dealing with one of the myriad of issues you face with a child, a person struggling to find the joy you know life holds, feel you and your significant other have lost touch with the love that brought you together, or have suffered a life changing loss , there is hope. Albert Schweitzer stated "At times our own light goes out and is rekindled by the spark of another." Working collaboratively, I believe I can help ignite the spark inside you towards the changes that will bring you more joy and peace.

I am a Licensed Marriage and

with a Doctorate in Psychoanalysis.
If you are considering a change, want to resolve conflict, or heal the past, you have taken the first step. It can be difficult to finally reach out to someone. Sometimes our problems may manifest as conflict in our relationships and occupations. Managing changes in our lives may create stress and confusion. Loss and grieving may require more support than
family
and friends can provide. Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy can serve to give you the space to clarify issues and heal.

What do family therapists do?
A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.
How long does therapy for families take to work?
Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.
How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?
You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.
Is therapy for families effective?
Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
