Has this pandemic taken a toll on your mental health and relationships? Have problems that weren't too bad a couple years ago become much worse since the pandemic started? A lot of people and relationships have been struggling to cope with high stress and anxiety, and have developed new, unhealthy coping habits like overeating and drinking, or using screen time for relaxation - leading to anxiety, panic attacks,
relationship
problems and more. The key to recovery is upgrading your coping skills to help you take control of your thoughts, emotions and choices, and learning new ways to manage life's stressors.

Life presents us many challenges. Sometimes, we become overwhelmed with how to navigate them. Whether you are a parent dealing with one of the myriad of issues you face with a child, a person struggling to find the joy you know life holds, feel you and your significant other have lost touch with the love that brought you together, or have suffered a life changing loss , there is hope. Albert Schweitzer stated "At times our own light goes out and is rekindled by the spark of another." Working collaboratively, I believe I can help ignite the spark inside you towards the changes that will bring you more joy and peace.

Working with
couples
in therapy is a challenge I particularly look forward to.
My 25 years experience in private practice working with children, teens, adults and
couples
have led to comfortable skills in facilitating change. I work very hard to really get to know my clients and work with their personal situations. Every individual, couple or family has their unique dynamics, needs, strengths and focus of change. You won't be put in a "diagnostic box".

Life can be filled with ups and downs and can at times overwhelm us and manifest in the form of self-doubt and anxiety. Normal experiences such as
relationship
issues, parenting challenges, life transitions such as job changes, marriage, divorce, a new baby and entering or completing college can seem difficult to navigate. Working with a therapist can help. My clients are adults and
couples
of all ages who are willing to consider alternatives, committed to exploring their potential and curious about expanding a capacity to learn new skills and be in a vibrant
relationship
with themselves and one another.

Do you feel overwhelmed with all of life's responsibilities? Linda Grove has extensive experience working with individuals struggling with stress, anxiety, burnout, and relationships. She also helps clients with life transitions and grief and loss. Our thoughts, feelings, beliefs, and behaviors can get in the way of us getting what we want from life. We struggle with not having tools, trusting ourselves, or knowing how to access what we truly desire from within. I can observe your patterns and explore with you how you may be getting yourself stuck and how to work through your challenges.

Have you found yourself asking any of the following questions or maybe made such a statement to yourself? ..."Why am I so anxious"? "I don't feel like doing anything today". "I feel so scared and don't know why". When you are suffering with anxiety, depression or other mental health issues these are common thoughts people have. You're definitely not alone and it can also be an indicator that it's the right time for some therapeutic guidance.

Sometimes life throws a curveball that wasn't anticipated, is difficult to handle, or that just seems unfair. While some things can't be changed -- the way circumstances are experienced and the responses we make to our circumstances requires skills that can be learned and applied to improve quality of life. The things we say to ourselves when facing overwhelming circumstances, disappointment, and injustice are vitally important. Whether you contend with uninvited trauma, grief and loss, anxious or depressed moods, or challenges in significant relationships, it is important to make choices that nurture meaningful life experience.

Couples Counseling Therapists
Does couples counseling work?
Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.
When should a couple seek counseling?
Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.
How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?
The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.
How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?
The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
