Why does everyday life feel harder for me than everyone else? The challenges of ADHD or ADD can feel overwhelming. Perhaps your child is discouraged from hearing phrases like "you are too much," " you are too distracted," or "not trying hard enough." Maybe your teen feels misunderstood, or as an adult you’re asking if ADHD or another form of neurodivergence explains struggles you've carried for years. You're tired of masking, overthinking, feeling overwhelmed, being anxious, or wondering why the same challenges keep showing up. The guilt, shame, and low self-esteem don't have to be your norm!

I work with individuals navigating betrayal, attachment wounds, grief, and difficult relationship patterns. Many clients come to therapy wanting to better understand emotional responses or relational dynamics shaped by earlier experiences. We often encounter obstacles we are not prepared for or travel down roads that do not lead where we hoped. Whether emotional pain comes from childhood, trauma, current stressors, loss, depression, phobias, anxiety, anger, life changes or relationships; I believe that everyone possesses the ability to recover and improve their quality of life. Working collaboratively, each client's personal values and goals are used to guide the course of therapy. Together, we will create a treatment plan that focuses on overcoming emotional and environmental barriers interfering with feeling present in life.

You’re successful on the outside, but still feel disconnected..from yourself, your emotions, or the people you love. I work with high-performing individuals and couples, including military leaders, physicians, healthcare professionals, and dual-career couples, who are ready to move beyond “performance mode” and into deeper emotional connection. My approach is warm, relational, and attachment-based, grounded in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT). I especially love helping disconnected couples rebuild trust, safety, and emotional closeness. Therapy with me is collaborative, real, and deeply human. You don’t have to perform here.

You've probably Googled "how to have a better relationship" at 11pm. I get it.
Maybe you're engaged and want to actually do this right, not just survive the wedding, but build something that holds. Maybe you've noticed that the way you fight (or don't fight) looks a little too familiar, like something you learned long before you had a choice. Maybe you're about to become parents and you're equal parts excited and terrified about what that's going to do to you two. I work with couples who are ready to stop repeating old patterns and start building something intentional. Let's work together to really build the intimacy you crave.

This isn't about masking better or "managing" who you are. It's about building a life that fits how your brain and body actually work.
My clients are autistic and ADHD adults — newly diagnosed, late-diagnosed, or self-identified — who've spent years masking, compensating, and pushing through to the point of burnout.
I help you move from compensation to actually living: sensory regulation that fits your nervous system, executive function strategies that work the way you think, and daily routines that don't drain you.

Most people arrive knowing something needs to change. Sometimes they can name it exactly. Sometimes it is only a signal that the way things are going is not working. Either one is enough to start.
I work with adults in demanding careers. Media and entertainment, military and politics, professional athletics, law. High-visibility work that leaves little room to be a beginner at anything.
Sessions are educational and forward-looking. We name what keeps happening, build the skill the change takes, and rehearse it against your real week. I am not a licensed therapist or psychologist, and what I offer is not therapy.

You've learned to push through—no matter what. And it's helped you accomplish a lot. But lately, it's starting to feel exhausting. On the outside, you seem capable and put-together. Inside, your mind won't slow down. You replay conversations, question whether you did something wrong, and feel responsible for keeping everything steady. You fall into familiar patterns even when you know they aren't working. Certain emotions hit harder than expected, leaving you overwhelmed or frustrated with yourself for reacting the way you do.

If you’ve ever felt like you’re explaining yourself over and over and still not quite being understood, you’re not alone. A lot of the queer and LGBTQ+ adults I work with come in feeling stuck, discouraged, or unsure whether therapy can actually help after past experiences that missed the mark. I’m a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor with over 30 years of experience. Most of my clients are queer adults, and I try to offer a space where you don’t have to overthink your words or explain who you are.

FAQ - Menopause Counseling
How can menopause affect mental health?
Menopause can bring physical and emotional changes that may affect mental health. Shifts in hormone levels can contribute to mood changes, irritability, anxiety, sleep disruption, and changes in energy or concentration. For some people, menopause may also worsen existing mental health concerns, such as depression or anxiety. Menopause may also happen during a period of other life stress, such as caring for children or aging parents, navigating relationship changes, or managing a demanding career. These stressors, combined with symptoms like poor sleep, hot flashes, and fatigue, can make it harder to cope emotionally.
How can therapy help with menopause symptoms?
Therapy can provide a space to process the emotions that may come with menopause and midlife more broadly. A therapist can help you identify patterns in mood, stress, or sleep, and may suggest tracking thoughts or symptoms to better understand what is contributing to emotional challenges. Therapy can also help with the impact menopause may have on relationships, work, or daily life. For example, a therapist may help you navigate how irritability, fatigue, or low mood is affecting communication with a partner, family member, or colleagues. They may also encourage strategies that generally support good mental health, such as physical exercise, stress management, and good sleep.
What is menopause-informed therapy?
Menopause-informed therapy means that a therapist understands how menopause can affect mental and physical health. It is not a specific type of therapy like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy or Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, nor does it necessarily indicate a therapist who has a specific certification or level of quality. The most important factor is finding a therapist who is comfortable discussing menopause and its possible impact on mental health. Some therapists may describe themselves as menopause-informed, while others may have relevant experience even if they do not use that exact phrase. During an initial consultation, it can be very helpful to ask whether a prospective therapist has worked with clients navigating menopause and midlife transitions.
Should I see a therapist instead of or alongside a doctor for menopause?
Therapists and doctors have different roles, so whether you see one or both depends on your symptoms and goals. A therapist can help with the emotional, cognitive, and relational effects of menopause. A doctor, by contrast, can assess and treat physical symptoms, such as hot flashes, night sweats, sleep disruption, or bone health concerns. If both emotional and physical symptoms are affecting you, it may be helpful to see both a therapist and a doctor. Support in one area may also make the other easier to manage. For example, medical treatment, including hormone therapy when appropriate, may help improve symptoms like sleep disruption or hot flashes, which can in turn support mood and emotional wellbeing.
