I incorporate principles from Buddhist psychology as well as mindfulness meditation.
EDMR Consultant, Internal Family Systems (IFS) trained. The therapy I do is all about getting to the root of your struggles. Talk therapy and problem solving can be great, but most of my client want to go beyond. By exploring the underlying causes, we can begin unraveling the knots that keep you stuck in the same old patterns. I draw from a variety of methods to your needs, creating a safe space for you to explore yourself more deeply, to see what you are still holding onto and to help you finally let go. I also teach a variety of tools you can use along the way. Now offering Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) as well.

I can also help you discover new coping skills which include mindfulness, interpersonal skills, and emotional regulation techniques.
Life can feel impossible to avoid struggling and we often don't feel we have the skills to cope successfully through. Unfortunately, sometimes we don't have all the resources we need for a given situation. Parts of us take on desperate roles trying to help us to survive. This might look like anxiety, depression, PTSD, addiction, and relationship/family issues. I aim to help you process unresolved issues and feelings and find solutions.

I often incorporate interventions from CBT, ACT, and Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction.
My approach to counseling begins with careful listening to understand your unique situation and personal goals. I will listen without judging you or rushing to a quick fix that might not be applicable for your specific situation. Many of my clients enter counseling feeling alone or overwhelmed by feelings of sadness, anxiety, anger, or stress. They may feel stuck in painful relationships that aren't working, or stuck with intense feelings of hopelessness, helplessness, dread, or inner pain. My treatment approach is gentle, educational, and experiential.

While there will be space for you to share what is going on in your life, we will also take time to do grounding exercises, practice mindfulness and guided visualizations, and engage with the natural world.
Welcome! Are you drawn to the natural world when you need to feel more grounded, calm, or inspired? Are you looking to broaden your community of support? I work with people primarily outside in the natural world, engaging in ecotherapy practices. I draw from evidence-based approaches, such as CBT and mindfulness to help you manage anxiety and depression.
We all feel lost from time to time, but there’s always light at the end of the tunnel. I’ve been through my own therapy as a young adult when I was stuck in a bout of anxiety and panic attacks due to childhood trauma. Throughout my years of working with traumatized individuals, I learned first-hand about how childhood trauma can have a strong impact on adulthood. I can help you address unresolved trauma, in order for you to find passion, connection, and purpose in your life.

I utilize the wisdom of western psychology and mindfulness to address emotional and psychological troubles.
Some difficulties we cannot resolve on our own and it is courageous to seek support. Therapy with me unfolds as a deep conversation. I meet you where you are with compassion and together we explore where these stuck places are. Many of my clients struggle with depression, substance use, anger, intimate relationships, work issues, stress, and a general feeling that life is not fulfilling in some way.

Internal Family Systems (IFS), somatic (body) practices, mindfulness, Brainspotting, psychodynamics (how the past impacts the present), and Eastern philosophy are some of the modalities that influence how I hold our time together.
Deep connection to oneself and those around us is so incredibly important, but can feel like such a daunting task during certain seasons of life. I offer a down to earth, warm, and compassionate space to explore all the things that get in the way of connection to yourself and others. Childhood trauma, attachment wounds, building self esteem, feeling more connected to one's intuition, life transitions, processing grief, and navigating endings are just a few of the things that I often support clients with. I come from that framework that so much wisdom exists within you, and we can find a way to connect to it.

Mindfulness-Based (MBCT) Therapists
How does mindfulness-based cognitive therapy work?
Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy originated in the work of John Kabat-Zinn of the University of Massachusetts Medical School. He developed mindfulness-based stress reduction, which is a technique found in yoga and meditation. MBCT is a combination of this type of stress reduction and cognitive behavioral therapy; it essentially quiets emotional distress through mindfulness, utilizing proper breathing and meditation. These techniques aim to bring the individual into the present moment when in a state of distress.
When do I know if I need treatment with mindfulness-based cognitive therapy?
If an individual’s mind is filled with emotional distress and general negativity, the person may feel trapped. A mindfulness-based cognitive therapist can help a person change their thinking patterns as well as their behavior through calm acceptance and compassion. This therapy can provide an individual with the coping skills needed for a healthier and more constructive life.
What should I expect from mindfulness-based cognitive therapy?
This therapy often takes place in group sessions. A therapist will work with the group as well as with each individual. Meditation and breathing exercises are core practices that aim to invite inquiry and discovery into a person’s troubled mental state. The objective is to identify and lessen negative thoughts and behaviors and move toward optimal health and productivity. The individual will see life in a more realistic way. This therapy is supportive, accepting, and warm.
Is mindfulness-based cognitive therapy effective?
Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy is evidence-based and effective. One study found that people with major depressive disorder have benefitted from this type of therapy; the person accepts their distressed thoughts and also moves into healthier patterns of thinking. This therapy also aims to move an individual away from automatic negative responses. This type of therapy can bring a person lifelong change, with higher levels of satisfaction, less stress, as well as positive emotional and behavioral habits.
