I help men of color build emotional resilience and develop healthier coping mechanisms so they can stop feeling disconnected to themselves and others, and most importantly, be the husband/partner they want to be. I understand and empathize with you. Do you feel arrested by cycles and patterns not allowing you to be the best version of yourself? Do you feel that anxiety or past trauma(s) is preventing you from having sustained and fulfilling relationship both with yourself and others? Is negative self-talk and self-doubt eroding your self-confidence?

We deserve to be heard, to have rich, meaningful connections, and to experience joy even in the face of our struggles. Clients I work with long, amid life's curveballs and losses, to find calm within themselves and their relationships. Over time, they learn to recognize their humanity in imperfection and that self-compassion is vital to their inner peace, no matter the depth of pain their story holds.

Life seems really good, right? Your family loves you. You love them too. You love your job, have a great career, or you are are working towards one. yet you feel sad, scared, hurt and lonely. You want to be happy, joyful and hopeful about life. Days and nights all run together and life seems meaningless and without purpose. Your relationships are not fulfilling. You have crying spells but you wear a game face like everything is going great. It's time to find joy and happiness. it's time to build and enjoy nurturing relationships.

Grief profoundly alters the way you experience yourself, your relationships, and the world around you.
I've worked with grief in its many forms. In hospice settings, I supported families through anticipatory grief and bereavement. I've also worked with parents and grandparents adjusting to their child’s developmental delays/diagnoses, navigating caregiving demands, and loss of imagined futures.

Have you gone through a challenging time and found yourself still returning to it in your mind, though the challenge has passed? Perhaps it is not your mind, but your body, that holds onto the stress. Body stress can show up as trouble sleeping, unexplained tension or strain, difficulty relaxing, difficulty mobilizing energy for things we need to do, or feeling the need to always be moving or working on something. Our bodies are amazingly creative in the ways they try to mitigate stress. Sometimes when that process is unconscious though, those stress relieving strategies can work against us.

In my private practice, I specialize in working with adults navigating anxiety, cultural identity questions, depression, emotional challenges, grief, intergenerational expectations, and life transitions.
While treatment looks different for each person, I integrate techniques from CBT, psychodynamic theory, and trauma-informed practice. It's important to me to find the balance between providing a nonjudgmental, supportive, and warm environment in therapy, while also challenging you to make the changes you would like in your life.

I work with individuals to strengthen their sense of choice and meaning in their lives. I believe we can emerge more whole when we get curious about the parts of us that seem inglorious. I do not believe in oversimplifying the human condition into "good" or "bad" because there is more truth in the spectrum. I want therapy to be accessible, helpful and grounded in the reality that we live our day-to-day lives outside the therapy office. Good therapy extends beyond one hour a week; good therapy informs how we relate to, engage with and move through the real world.

As a psychotherapist, it’s an honor to be a witness and facilitator to client transformation, resilience, and growth. My perceptiveness, compassion, and holding of a nonjudgmental space allow discovery and observation of patterns that may no longer be helpful. I see my work through a social justice perspective and understand oppression itself as a form of stress and trauma. As a mixed-race and multicultural person of African-American and Jewish ancestry, I honor experiences of intersecting identities and am deeply interested in intergenerational trauma and resilience.

I specialize in grief, anxiety, and trauma, with a focus on medical personnel and other essential workers who experience trauma on the job.
Most of my work is based in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, which is a large umbrella for treatments that include mindfulness, body awareness and harm-reduction. As we get to know one another, we'll formulate goals and decide together roughly how we're going to get there. Therapy is hard work, and it's my job to help you feel safe enough to take it on.

Do you feel invisible in your grief because your cultural community expects strength, but therapy spaces don't get the complexity of navigating grief as a Black, Latina, Asian, or mixed-race woman?
I help millennial women of color move from feeling emotionally paralyzed by grief to rediscovering meaning, rebuilding their identity after loss, and honoring their loved one while reclaiming joy without abandoning their cultural values or spiritual beliefs.

I work with individuals and couples who are trying to understand both their inner psychological issues and their responses to complex and stressful outer lives. I listen for the strengths each person has for meeting challenges, and listen also for the ways clients create losses for themselves. Within a warm, caring, reliable working relationship clients have the opportunity to more deeply value themselves and to grow interpersonally.
