Are you overwhelmed with negative thoughts, feeling depressed or anxious? No matter how hard you try, your life is still a struggle? I can help. When we are very young, we adapt to our environments to get our needs met for love and safety. And we continue to use those adaptions unconsciously as adults. I can help you understand your symptoms and help you change so that you may be more " in the moment" and experience more peace and joy. I teach Mindfulness, use Internal Family Systems Approach (IFS),
EMDR
and Hypnotherapy, and the Polyvagal theory.

Do any of the following resonate with you? You feel alone in your emotions and struggles. You feel misunderstood about how you are dealing with your life’s challenges. You feel yourself sinking into negative thought patterns about yourself. You feel stuck. If so, I can help. Grief and loss, trauma, anxiety and life transitions can cause us to feel helpless, stuck and less like our true selves. As the world turns on, it can be hard to find time to understand the way life's ups and downs impact our emotions and sense of self. Therapy is a great way to broaden understanding of this.

Additionally, in my practice I offer
EMDR
, a powerful, proven treatment for healing from traumatic events and the memories they leave.
My work with you begins from my deep respect for the self-awareness and courage it takes to seek support. From our first session together, I aim to create an optimally safe and trusting relationship, a safe harbor in what may be tumultuous life seas. Gently but actively, I will help guide you through the places inside where you feel stuck, afraid, or are simply in too much pain to examine. In our sessions, I won't just sit back silently; my approach to therapy is warm, interactive, experiential and engaged.

I offer clients modalities such as
EMDR
so that the client is no longer being hijacked by what happened to them.
I believe that our minds and hearts, like our bodies, possess an innate wisdom and ability to heal, given the right environment and structure. Sometimes we get stuck in old patterns and beliefs that helped us in the circumstances we learned them in, but need to be updated in order to allow us to fully embody our best, most authentic and empowered selves. Therapy can assist us in learning more about what automatic programs our system is running, and give us the tools to make these changes.

I I can help you access and process your trauma through
EMDR
, EFT and NLP.
Hello, my name is Gina Nuñez. I am a Certified Clinical Trauma Therapist and a Complex PTSD therapist. Complex PTSD stems from trauma over a long period of time, i.e child abuse/neglect. Trauma is a mental and physical imprint caused by extreme stress. Your fight, flight, or freeze response, is often activated if you live with trauma. Your body, mind, and emotions remain on high alert. When trauma goes untreated it can lead to low self-esteem, and a negative outlook on life, yourself and others. I can help you overcome your negative past to build a positive future. My email page on the website stopped working so email me.

I use
EMDR
as part of a 3 phase program that integrates talk and somatic approaches, in client centered, culturally affirmative ways to help you create a life that feels much more peaceful and manageable.
Do you want to feel more in control of your life? Do you have past trauma that needs to be healed? Even with the perfect job or relationship, traumatic experiences from childhood or adolescence, can affect how we feel and behave in the present. It does not matter whether they are big or small traumas. When stress from trauma gets out of control, we will see indicators such as, anxiety and depression, not feeling to go to work, parenting and relationship problems, overwhelm, bingeing on TV and more. Healing trauma, means that you will have more control, so you can really have the success you want in all arenas of your life.

As a therapist trained in both Gestalt therapy and
EMDR
, as well as being a Zen koan meditation teacher, I offer a unique blend of modalities for helping to cultivate the habit of paying attention.
I will interrupt you a lot, that is what meditation does. It interrupts our stories about ourselves and the world around us. I will also listen to you, deeply. That is another way meditation helps, we learn to listen to ourselves deeply. The word akrasia means 'out of control' and is used to describe the way we continue to do things that we know is not in our best interest, or don't do things that we know are in our best interest. Most people feel relief just to know there is word for it. The cause of akrasia is said to be a lack of information and meditation gives us access to the information we need to change.

EMDR
, Motivational Interviewing, Mindfulness and Interactive Guided Imagery for helping those with trauma, depression and anxiety.

My expertise is working with trauma, grief & sexual abuse of children, teens and adults using trauma focused CBT,
EMDR
, Brain Spotting &play therapy.
My experience comes from 31 years of helping children, adults, couples and families in both Community Mental Health and Private Practice. My approach is eclectic and tailored to each individual's needs to facilitate healing and growth. Through my years of experience I have witnessed over and over again people coming into therapy with great pain, discomfort and despair but with time, (sometimes within a very short time) their symptoms diminish and a whole new person emerges. Crisis times can be extremely painful and distressful but they can also be opportunities for growth and healing through therapy.

Sometimes there are circumstances in life that are overwhelming and are beyond our control. Other times, we are trapped by our own perceptions and projections of the world. My approach is to serve as a guide and help you unravel your perceptions, memories, and beliefs, as well as provide you with some skills to help you cope in your world. Let's look at how you can change the things you can control while increasing your ability to make in-depth change. I address issues with depression, anxiety, divorce, trauma, and racial trauma. I currently work with couples & individuals.

, cognitive behavioral, dialectical behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, crisis management and solution-focused therapy.
Coping with Covid-19 & shelter in place: We’re living in a time of uncertainty, stress and anxiety that is likely once in a lifetime. Survival fears about sickness and death have suddenly surfaced in a manner that most of us have never experienced. For those of us that have pre-existing PTSD, depression or anxiety, those feelings may be particularly amplified. We’re all seeking safety, comfort, and connection during this environment of extreme isolation. In response to these realities, I am offering therapy sessions, including
EMDR
using Zoom, FaceTime, or phone. Take care of yourselves and take care of one another.

I use an eclectic style that I have formed over many years of working with adults and children experiencing health traumas and family transitions through foster care, etc. I often start with crisis intervention and prioritize starting where the client is. I provide feedback and suggestions and motivational interviewing. I also have experience working with harm reduction models for substance abuse intervention. I often use Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (
EMDR
) to help clients with self-esteem, shame, and PTSD symptoms.

I work with individuals who have experienced trauma and are seeking relief through an integrative, relational, and somatic approach. Drawing on somatic techniques such as
EMDR
and Somatic Experiencing, I support my clients in connecting to the felt sense of their bodies as a source of information. I believe that a gentle inquiry into the body’s felt sense allows us to safely integrate the past into the present and clarify what’s true for us in any given moment.

Who is EMDR for?
EMDR was initially developed as a treatment for individuals with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), for whom memories of a deeply distressing experience can be inadvertently triggered by random everyday events. The procedure has since been applied in the treatment of many other conditions. For example, it is used by some therapists to treat anxiety disorders including panic and phobias, depression, dissociative disorders, eating disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorders, and some personality disorders. It is suitable for adolescents and adults.
Why do people need EMDR?
People need EMDR as a way to manage distressing memories that in some way hamper the ability to function in the present. The procedure is believed to target the way memories are stored in the brain. Evidence indicates that past disturbing experiences cause ongoing distress because they were not adequately processed, and when such memories are triggered in the present, they are accompanied by all the emotions, thoughts, and physical sensations as the initial experience.
What problems does EMDR treat?
First and foremost, EMDR is intended as a treatment for PTSD, to defuse distressing memories that intrude on and impair everyday functioning. It is also often used to help those who are subject to panic attacks, phobias, and other forms of anxiety. In addition, EMDR has been used to treat individuals with depression, eating disorders, and personality disorders.
What happens in EMDR therapy?
First the therapist takes an individual’s history, and then the therapist and client decide which distressing experience(s) will be the target(s) of the exercise, delivered via a side-to-side visual stimulus requiring lateral eye movements. The client will be asked to activate thoughts, feelings, and any body sensations related to the troubling experience. The eye movements are said to reduce the emotional charge of the memory, so that the experience can then be safely discussed with the therapist and digested, minimizing its ability to trigger anxiety.
