In my practice I work with individuals who are seeking help to improve their quality of life. They may be facing anxiety, depression, or stress and want some help to relieve these pressures. Some clients attend therapy with me because they want additional support facing a life change, loss, or other difficulty.

Finding the right therapist can be daunting, and for some, it can be the most difficult step. I offer a free 15 minute phone consultation so that you can assess if we are the right fit. I work with teens and adults presenting with concerns such as depression, anxiety, trauma, grief/ loss, chronic health concerns, relationship issues, and life transitions. In our work together we will explore your strengths and root you in them. We will define your values and explore how to live your life in harmony with them. We will also create space for the areas in your life where you want change and navigate the path to get you there.

Trauma comes in many forms. It can be from childhood abuse, car accidents, immigration injustices, toxic work environment, toxic relationship, racial injustice, war, rape, bullying, natural and manmade disasters like wildfires and earthquakes. You may have the symptoms of PTSD but not have explicit memories of the traumatizing experience. EMDR walks you through a series of steps to help decrease the symptoms of PTSD (nightmares, flashbacks, anxiety, insomnia, avoidance and hopelessness about the future). It also helps to map out a plan to deal with future triggers and gives a renewed and positive belief system about the self.

Have you ever felt like your pain was too big, too loud, or simply "too much" for the people around you? This often leaves us in a painful bind: desperately wanting safe love, while simultaneously struggling to receive it.
I am a Psychological Associate and doctoral student in Clinical Psychology, providing psychotherapy under supervision. I work with adolescents ages 16 and above, adults, couples, and families who are navigating the emotional impact of past experiences, current stressors, or relationship challenges.

If you feel stuck -- whether it's the loneliness of an unfulfilling relationship, the dark hole of depression, or the bewilderment of grief -- I would welcome the chance to connect with you. In my fifteen years of practice, I have helped clients to emerge renewed from some of life's hardest places.

I regularly suggest homework, enabling you to take an active part in your therapy and make it highly efficient. To understand how I work, go to www.ThreeMinuteTherapy.com. Feel free to call or email with questions: 415-673-2848 or DrEdelstein@ThreeMinuteTherapy.com.

I have participated in many trainings, most recently in: Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Attachment Science, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), law & ethics, and psychotherapy with older adults.
I consider therapy a collaborative effort, guided by your needs. Through meaningful conversations we address your goals, your beliefs & their origins, and look at what's not working for you anymore. Therapy gives you the space you need to look at what is true to you by exploring your boundaries and willingness to go to uncomfortable places. I've been working as a private practice therapist since 2008 — first as an intern and then as a licensed clinician. I am attentive, warm, and compassionate. I take my work seriously & believe a little humor can aid in the healing process.

Therapy with me is collaborative, supportive, and practical. I work to create a space where you feel comfortable talking openly while also helping you gain insight and tools you can use in your daily life. My style is warm and interactive, and I actively engage with you rather than simply listening.

I specialize in two distinct areas of therapy: Couples Counseling and Healthy Aging, two different parts of my practice but both reflecting my belief in people’s ability to grow and change for the better. In my work with couples I help improve their communication, deepen their connection, work through challenges, or simply invest in an already healthy relationship. I see myself as a counselor for the relationship itself—a neutral and supportive presence who helps each partner be heard, understood, and better able to understand the other.

I work from a humanistic, integrative approach. The way that I view Integrative psychotherapy is to honor the process of taking disowned or unresolved aspects (or parts) of the self and bring them together in order to help one find their "true authentic self." This process reduces defense mechanisms, and supports each client to integrate those protective parts in order to engage with the world, themselves and the people they care about. I bring presence, as well as unconditional personal regard to all my clients.

You’ve already done therapy and understand your patterns—but still feel stuck in cycles of anxiety, overthinking, or intrusive thoughts. You can see what’s happening, but something deeper isn’t shifting. Your system doesn’t fully settle.
You might replay conversations, get pulled into “what if” spirals, or feel a quiet, constant sense of unease. Even when you tell yourself you’re okay, your body holds onto something else—leaving you tired, on edge, and ready for change that actually reaches beneath the surface.

I am particularly interested in working with mid-life transitions as well as with older adults who are interested in exploring the many challenges and opportunites of aging consciously.
Do you long for a deeper sense of peace, wholeness and connection to life? Do repetitive patterns prevent you from having a fulfilling life and satisfying relationships? Any issue or symptom, such as addiction, depression or anxiety, or an underlying sense of disconnection, fear or doubt, is a message from your unconscious that something inside Is out of alignment. We will collaboratively explore your experiences and their meaning to help you connect to yourself and life in a fuller and more satisfying way.

I have been a practicing LCSW for 25 years. I believe that people can change for the better at any time in their lives. Our daily responsibilities often get in the way of us prioritizing our mental health, however there is no better time than now to start your growth journey. I am here to help you. I am very open minded and non judgmental. You can tell me anything and be assured that I will listen with compassion. I worked in healthcare most of my career and specialize in end of life, caregiver compassion fatigue and adjustment issues related to managing chronic illnesses. I also specialize in treating trauma and PTSD.
