I believe that the power of vulnerability is one of our greatest strengths and ultimately can provide us with a deeper sense of self, security, comfort, and more compassionate towards one another. Coming from a strength-based form of doing therapy and providing support to others, I work to provide my clients with a sense of validation and comfort. As a cis male that identifies as Latinx and as a proud member of the LGBTQIA community, I am able to hold the experience of living in many diverse, cross-cultural emotional experiences that we sometimes may not even know how to begin to understand.

I work with people who are ready to heal. My clients are often high-functioning on the outside but quietly struggling inside, overwhelmed, self-critical, or unsure of how to move forward. Do you feel like something’s always holding you back, like you're anxious, stuck, or down for no clear reason? It might be unresolved trauma showing up as depression, anxiety, or low self-worth. You’re not broken—and you’re not alone. Maybe therapy hasn’t helped much in the past, or maybe you’ve just reached a point where you’re done "just coping" and want to actually feel better.

Do you suspect something is “off,” that you could be doing better? Feeling better? You could, even, be happier? What’s stopping you? Sometimes, it is anxiety or depression. Often it is an addiction to something that for a while made things better - drugs, alcohol, spending, and others. These are false strategies that promised relief, but in the end, caused more suffering. They make anxiety & depression worse, taking one down into a spiral of hopelessness and despair, even shame. You don't have to stay here. You can change.

If you are looking for someone who is supportive, direct, and can appreciate that your sarcastic humor might be your "outside" as you are simultaneously crying on the "inside," then I might be a great fit for you. I offer a warm environment that is more than just listening and nodding - my style is collaborative, goal-oriented, and fosters curiosity around the things that folks are wanting to shift in their lives. I work with individuals and couples to help them find the change in their lives that they want, while also gaining insight as to why they are stuck to help keep them from getting stuck again in the future.

I support individuals and couples who are experiencing some variation of struggle with control and self-regulation. Sometimes this presents in the form of rumination and anxiety, OCD, substance use, and/or codependent relationship dynamics. With several years of experience as the practice manager for a chronic pain, addiction, and dependence clinic, I bring both lived experience and clinical experience into the therapy room. Offering a harm reduction and trauma-informed approach to care, I would echo Gabor Maté in saying, "The question is never 'Why the addiction' but 'Why the pain?'"

Are you wanting to feel better once and for all? Maybe you can't move on from the past or you're worried about your future. If anxiety, panic, or even depression is stealing your joy, I get it. If traditional talk therapy hasn't helped you feel better, it's time to try a new approach to heal at the source of your pain. For 12 years I have refined my approach through professional training and experience in Relational-gestalt therapy and Brainspotting (derived from EMDR) while centering social justice and trauma-informed care.

Many of my clients feel unhappy in their daily lives and seek me out to help them feel better. This looks very different for different people. It could mean they need help overcoming a past traumatic event, issues with their partners, or other family members, are feeling unhappy at work, or are feeling the effects of an oppressive or racist systems. My clients are often working through issues related to depression, anxiety, trauma and/or difficult life circumstances.

Ketamine-assisted psychotherapy is becoming increasingly popular for treating a variety of mental health concerns, including depression, anxiety, PTSD, addiction, and I’m really excited to have this as a tool in my psychotherapy practice. The first step is to reach out to me and we’ll set up a free consultation either on zoom to discuss more and learn a bit more about each other and see if we’re a good fit to work together.

Life can feel heavy. Perhaps it’s the constant miscommunication in your relationship that leaves you feeling alone, even when you’re together. Or maybe it’s something inside you—a quiet ache that whispers there’s more to life than just getting through the day. You want to feel heard, understood, and connected—to your partner, to yourself, and to something deeper. As a therapist, I bring warmth, empathy, and intuition to create a space where you can feel safe to explore what’s really happening beneath the surface. Together, we’ll untangle the emotions and patterns that keep you feeling stuck and move towards healing and growth.

Life can be challenging, and everyone could use some support from time to time. Some of these challenges might include things like feeling isolated and/or overcommitted, unmotivated, disconnected from your goals/purpose, “stuck” (in a relationship, job, habit), or finding it tough to unwind/quiet self-critical thoughts. These types of challenges often leave people feeling drained, restless and unsure of where to turn next. The good news is that with the right support, it’s possible to start moving toward a life that feels more fulfilling & aligned with who you are & what you want.

Alcohol Use Therapists

Are there specific medications for alcohol use?

There are oral medications approved to treat alcohol use disorder—such as disulfiram, acamprosate, and naltrexone, which also comes in an injectable form. These medications do help people reduce their drinking as well as avoid the problem of relapse. Naltrexone helps reduce cravings, disulfiram can make a person feel sick when they drink, and acamprosate may help ease symptoms like poor sleep and anxious feelings.

How do alcohol recovery or rehabilitation programs work?

In inpatient programs, individuals live in a facility with other patients in recovery; in outpatient programs, individuals live at home. These facilities are staffed with healthcare professionals including physicians, nurses, psychologists, counselors, and psychotherapists. Staff can also include people who have recovered themselves, serving as mentors and guides. These programs may use abstinence, harm reduction, detoxification, psychotherapy, and other tools for recovery.

How do 12-step programs combined with psychotherapy work?

Members of 12-step programs help each other reach abstinence and work to maintain it. These programs promote complete change in the individual’s emotional, mental, physical, and even spiritual perspectives. Some programs require that new members attend 90 meetings in 90 days. Many people do attend these programs in conjunction with their work in psychotherapy; the combination of therapy along with 12-step can be extremely effective.

How does harm reduction combined with psychotherapy work?

According to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, harm reduction prevents death, injury, disease, overdose, and substance misuse. People who choose harm reduction for alcohol use reduce the amount of alcohol they intake. It is not abstinence-based like a 12-step program, but combining harm reduction with psychotherapy proves to be effective for many people.
