Many of the clients I work with are gifted, often autistic or ADHD, and almost always creative.
My approach is shaped by years of working with creative people, my own differently wired way of being, and a strong sense of curiosity and adventure. I’ve trained with Dr. Grace Malonai and worked in a range of community mental health settings, supporting people with depth, nuance, and care.

My specialties include helping kids and caregivers navigate issues related to divorce, ADHD, traumatic events and emotional dysregulation.
Are you worried about your child or teen and just want to see them confident and thriving? You may be dealing with intense emotions, school issues, or signs of grief or anxiety. Maybe your teen is shutting you out or your younger child is having frequent meltdowns or challenging behaviors. You want to feel like what you're doing is helping rather than guessing at what to do. I support kids and their families in building the skills to get through life’s challenges and in feeling more ease and connection along the way. Therapy doesn’t just support your child; it supports you, too, with strategies you can use in your day-to-day life.

This can mean learning how to safely unmask your Autism or ADHD, healing traumas old & new, setting healthy boundaries, strengthening communication with partners, learning new ways to approach challenges without shame, or bringing compassion to chronically ill bodyminds.
As a nurodivergant, disabled, queer, and chronically ill person myself, I work from a stance of lived as well as professional experience. I know how hard it can be to find a therapist who is interested in the full experience of living in your bodymind as opposed to trying to diagnose and fit you into interventions that 'should' work.

I work frequently with anxiety and stress, workplace and relationship issues, adult ADHD;, depression, dealing with difficult/ controlling people; major life transitions (relationship endings, career changes, etc.); and spiritual growth.
My approach in therapy is to create a warm, non-judgmental, interactive atmosphere in which we can bring the wisdom of your highest and best self to your current difficulties and dilemmas. I am attuned to the effect of unconscious patterns that begin in childhood and yet try to work in the present, trusting that the past -- to the extent it is important -- will show up in the present. My belief is that human beings naturally tend toward wholeness. In couples counseling, I focus on releasing judgement and blame, avoiding power struggles and restoring clients to their natural state of empathy and caring.

I have experience with a range of issues from ADHD, to bad breakups, to anxiety related to social media, to challenges with people pleasing.
I prioritize making the therapeutic environment active and flexible, creating space for all the overlapping spheres of the human experience. Between relationships, career, family, and the rest of the world, our lives and struggles are intertwined, making it sometimes hard to understand where one challenge starts or ends. By exploring the history and interconnectedness of our challenges and strengths, we can develop new understanding and identify strategies that feel nuanced, meaningful, and empowering. I maintain a client-centered approach allowing the client to work in a framework and pace that feels best for them.

I specialize in the assessment and treatment of neurodevelopmental disorders like learning differences and ADHD.
I am a licensed clinical psychologist with many years of experience working with children, adolescents, and their families, as well as adults. My interventions are heavily rooted in behavioral therapy and evidence-based practices including feminist and attachment theories. However, I tend to conceptualize clinical presentations from a multicultural and social justice perspective. While I employ empirically validated treatments to ignite change, I am also of the belief that there is no single story to any individual. Consequently, it is important to understand the social, cultural, political, and spiritual context of each individual.

When should I seek treatment for ADHD?
You should seek treatment for ADHD if you consistently have difficulty with attention, hyperactivity, or impulsivity that interferes with your daily life. Symptoms of ADHD include the inability to sustain attention during tasks, difficulty organizing tasks and activities, being easily distracted, frequent fidgeting or squirming, and talking or interrupting excessively. If these symptoms interfere with your career, academics, or relationships—for example, consistently failing to complete professional projects on time—you should seek an evaluation for ADHD.
How does treatment for ADHD work?
Effective treatment for ADHD often consists of medication, behavioral therapy, and lifestyle changes. Stimulant medications such as Adderall and Ritalin work by altering levels of neurotransmitters in the brain; higher levels of dopamine and norepinephrine are known to improve attention and focus. Therapy works by helping people with ADHD understand the condition, discuss their areas of difficulty, and develop behavioral strategies to manage their symptoms. In some cases, modifying one’s diet and exercise can also help improve symptoms.
Are there specific medications for ADHD?
Medications to treat ADHD are generally stimulants, the most common are Adderall and Ritalin. There are two categories of stimulants: Amphetamines include Adderall, Dyanavel, Vyvanse, and Dexedrine, and methylphenidates include Ritalin, Concerta, Daytrana, Focalin, Quillichew, Quillivant, and Metadate. Non-stimulants and antidepressants may be used as an alternative if stimulants aren’t effective or viable for a particular patient.
How long does treatment for ADHD take?
It’s tough to give an exact time frame because everyone varies. In terms of medications, stimulants begin to work very soon after you take them, generally within the hour. It may take time to identify the right medication and dosage, but the medication itself is fast-acting. In terms of therapy, it takes time to develop skills and put them into practice, but you will likely see improvements within a few weeks or months.
