I provide a down-to-earth approach to self-exploration and personal development, recognizing the universality of both human suffering and human potential. I take a non-pathological approach to therapy, coming from a core orientation that each person is inherently valuable and has an innate capacity for wisdom and wholeness. My approach is dynamic and relational, being informed by a lifetime of psychological and spiritual inquiry.

So many of us live disconnected - from our bodies, emotions, those we love, and most importantly, from ourselves. We keep moving, achieving, caretaking or numbing just to get through the day. Our culture rewards pushing forward and masking discomfort, but the body remembers what the mind tries to forget. I help people, couples, and families slow down, listen within, and begin to heal at the root rather than just managing symptoms. I’m committed to co-creating a space where you can understand yourself more lovingly, connect with what you truly want and need, and create lasting change, peace and a deeper sense of purpose in your life.

I work with individuals and couples in any stage of relationship. If we work together, my goal is to help you access and understand the root causes of your struggles so you can truly heal. In my experience, when the origin of conditioned thoughts, feelings and behaviors are fully felt and understood, they no longer have power, can be let go, and in their place comes a sense of freedom, choice and empowerment. Whether you struggle to manage stress, anxiety, and/or depression, or have found the goal of creating a satisfying relationship or career to be elusive, I believe you can move past any limitations with the right help.

Whether new to therapy or returning, I understand the desire for change and need to be heard. Youth struggling with their identity, trauma, interpersonal/family conflicts, and or academics are in need of tools, regular support, and acceptance as they navigate an increasingly complicated world. Parents, new to the role or with years of experience, also deserve support, encouragement, and space to be individuals and process the challenges of home in order to further grow as caregivers. Everyone regardless of race, sex, gender, age, or religion deserves to be treated with compassion, respect, and dignity.

Most people who come to see me are individuals and couples who are aware that something's wrong, but find that their own solutions to their issues are falling short, or even making matters more complicated. They are looking for support, understanding and REAL help that can be felt both in the present and that will leave a lasting impact.

Hello and welcome! I love working with clients who want to understand themselves as fully as is possible. My clients tend to come to therapy for a specific reason, but often stay to explore and discover more broadly, seeing the treatment process as a tool of growth and expansion. I work well with clients of all genders, sexual orientations, and cultural backgrounds, and I see the therapy relationship as a sacred container for meaningful personal healing and evolution. I find that most clients are seeking a combination of practical help and deep insight, and I really enjoy moving with flexibility and spontaneity between these goals.

After twenty-five years of helping clients my counseling approach is to look for the Health within you regardless of what you are currently experiencing. Once you get a sense of this inner Health you can use it to overcome the obstacles that are preventing you from enjoying your life or your relationships. I help you focus on areas of difficulty with kind acceptance. Anxiety, depression and unhappiness transform into greater contentment. You begin to experience yourself as bigger than the problem.

I believe we are all whole but sometimes life circumstances, the way we grew up, the way we are treated by society/systems based on our identities, etc. can cloud the way in which we see ourselves or which tools we have access to. I specialize in working with clients who have experienced complex trauma due to race, gender, sexual orientation, abuse, violence, historical events and poverty. My hope is to help create more tools, help unpack the trauma, identify YOUR strengths and your understanding of yourself and help you navigate the world in a way that feels true to YOU.

Whether sitting with individuals or partners, I am here to remind you of what you already know but might have forgotten: you are enough. Many clients find their way to me because they want to work through challenges related to their identity, acculturation, sexuality, gender expression, relationship formation, and early traumas. Couples come to me to work on communication, getting out of repetitive cycles of missing each other, or just to work on their open relationship agreements. My identities as a queer, non-monogamous, sex- and kink-positive, immigrant tend to attract potential clients who share some of these positionalities.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.

Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
