I work with individuals and couples facing significant life choices and transitions in areas such as relationships, marriage, divorce, parenthood, career, and identity. I also have a sub-specialization in work with survivors of trauma. I am experienced in working with clients from a wide range of cultural and geographic backgrounds. In our sessions I provide clients a place to find support, acceptance, perspective and hope, to explore themselves and their lives in depth, and to develop more effective ways of relating to themselves and others.
I have been in practice for over 30 years. My primary specialty has been working with men and boys who have experienced sexual abuse. This issue often includes alcohol and drug issues, anxiety, depression, marital and couples issues and more. I am experienced in EMDR as well as a range of somatic and humanistic approaches.
Everyone runs into trouble at some point in their life. When they do, they often benefit from talking to someone who isn't primarily their friend or member of their family, someone who is empathic, curious, non-judgmental, and relentlessly focused on helping you feel better. Therapy isn't a one-size-fits-all enterprise, but has to tailored to what you need. Whether it's about simply feeling less anxious or depressed, or mastering an inhibition or block you've had all your life, therapy can get you back on the track you once were on or want to be on.
My experience comes from 31 years of helping children, adults, couples and families in both Community Mental Health and Private Practice. My approach is eclectic and tailored to each individual's needs to facilitate healing and growth. Through my years of experience I have witnessed over and over again people coming into therapy with great pain, discomfort and despair but with time, (sometimes within a very short time) their symptoms diminish and a whole new person emerges. Crisis times can be extremely painful and distressful but they can also be opportunities for growth and healing through therapy.
Are you stuck in a frustrating relationship or an unsatisfying job? Do you feel sad or anxious a lot of the time? Do you worry that life is passing you by? Do you wish that you could talk to someone who would understand what you're going through and help you get on top of your problems? If this sounds like you, I'd like to help by working with you in a supportive, non-judgmental environment where you can safely get to know yourself better and make positive changes in your life.
Sucks to live with thoughts, feelings and beliefs that aren’t welcoming, hopeful or kind, doesn’t it? When that inner stream is clouded with shame, negativity or apathy, therapy can be a filter to clear out the toxins and make way for the new - the braver, the steadier, the integrated; the you that has the room and gumption to flourish. Getting acquainted with your badass, authentic self deserves your full attention, intention and compassion.

What I believe: Relationships are unique and come in countless shapes and sizes over time. Right now, relationships are already happening and changing in your life every day. Love is available in ourselves when we choose it, and choosing love in ourselves brings more love into our relationships. Yes, all relationships shift and change, and at the same time, love can regenerate again and again in the most mysterious moments and forms if we stay open and curious.
If you're considering therapy, you may feel that you're not quite living up to your potential, not finding the connection you want in relationships, or generally feeling stuck, anxious, or frustrated without knowing why. Feelings like these are more common than you think, and therapy can help you move forward with more self-awareness and confidence.

During challenging times, people often feel defeated and focus on what is wrong. I want to shift the focus from what is "not working" to identifying what is "working." We will work to uncover patterns (behavioral, thought beliefs, relationship), that will lead you to making better decisions. I want to offer a safe place to process thoughts and feelings around issues that can be challenging. I am interested in helping people who experience stress, anxiety, depression, trauma, grief/loss and challenges with relationships (social or romantic). Many conversations are around “adulting” and how to manage life, career, relationships, etc.
I am a trauma focused therapist for individuals and families who have experienced single or multiple adverse events in childhood or adulthood, and intergenerational trauma. It isn't always easy to reach out for help after these experiences, in my role as a therapist I am committed to assist my clients in this courageous step toward their healing journey. I am currently accepting new clients who live in California for tele-therapy through live video conferencing.
Everyone comes to psychotherapy with unique needs, difficulties, and strengths. My focus is working with men and women experiencing traumatic stress, addiction, depression, chronic or terminal illness, and relationship problems. My approach is holistic. Together with clients I work to ease distress, build on strengths already present, gain insights, and cultivate relating to yourself and other people in life-enhancing ways.
I believe three core things about therapy: 1. People are inherently healthy. 2. Therapy is not just about symptoms. 3. If the therapy is working, you'll know it. Traditionally, psychotherapy has been associated with illness while wellness and depth have been left to the self-help movement. The theory I practice sees everyone as sound at the core. As a result, there is no ceiling on "getting better." Someone with symptoms wants to feel more like him or herself, which I aim to make happen as quickly as possible. At the same time, I help people to achieve clear interpersonal, professional, and creative change.
I provide individual, group, and couples therapy for adults. Clients of all faiths, cultures, ethnic groups, religions, sexual orientations, and gender identities are welcome. My focus is helping clients process and work through problems involving depression, anxiety, relationship issues, loss, trauma, stress, and life transitions.
