My style of therapy is warm, attentive, & engaged. I believe we all need to be heard, understood & truly seen for who we are; for this is where a sense of self-trust can deepen & self-esteem can strengthen. One of my goals is to help you feel less burdened & less alone in your struggles and also provide coping strategies when you are feeling overwhelmed. I honor the uniqueness of each individual & work in a way that meets your current needs (whether you are moving through a crisis situation, having relationship issues, needing help managing anxiety & depression, or healing from trauma).

If you or your child is struggling, you may be experiencing the disappointment of unmet expectations or fear about the future. It is painful when things go off course, but the discomfort of what is not working can guide us toward a deeper understanding of ourselves and the parts of ourselves in need of attention, compassion and healing.

I support my clients in three key areas: (1) improving their confidence and self-esteem; (2) enhancing their relationships; and (3) effectively navigating career and workplace challenges. As both a therapist and executive coach for 20+ years, I've intensively studied many approaches to psychotherapy and human development to be as helpful and effective as I can. Which of these approaches we'd use will depend on your unique needs and what we decide together best fits for you. I’m focused on significant progress in the short term and even more change and development over time. My approach overall is warm, accepting and personal.

My counseling style is centered on a client-centered approach. I believe we have the solutions to our concerns, but current circumstances and past experiences create barriers for us to clearly see and act on those solutions. I support clients by helping to identify their strengths and traits that can be used to create desirable change. Given every client will seek changes unique to their worldview and personal growth is often subtle and gradual, it is important to track and reflect on these changes throughout the therapeutic process.

The heart of my work centers around adults of the South Asian Diaspora. My goal in emphasizing my practice here is to recognize a need for folks to have a therapist who truly understands their background and can create safety in talking about parts of the culture that can feel shameful or misunderstood from a Western perspective. The most common areas of focus include family of origin issues, intergenerational trauma and creating space to heal your inner child, acknowledging your grief, exploring your TRUE identity, and cultivating positive relationships by creating boundaries and building self-esteem + confidence.

Why do therapy? Why embark on a relationship with someone you don't know, to talk about difficulties or challenges in your life? Sometimes, when we tell family or friends how we are feeling, they react personally or try to explain away our experiences rather than make room for them. I believe that a relationship with a therapist is one in which significant change can take place. The neutral environment of therapy provides space to explore our experiences without worrying about angering, hurting, or upsetting someone else.

Psychotherapy is unique & takes courage. It's fulfilling-yet challenging. Using empathy, collaboration, intuition, open mindedness & humor, we will identify automatic ways of thinking, & behaving- that show up as internal conflict, self sabotage, low self esteem , depression, relationship struggles & anxiety. I have a wide array of experience, working with diverse populations, including POC, those experiencing homelessness, those experiencing psychosis, queer identified folks, folks with learning differences, & students with achievement struggles and imposter syndrome. My practice is trauma informed.

I create an experience tailored to your individualized needs and goals. Instead of sticking to a template, we’ll identify how to ensure you feel most comfortable expressing yourself. Therapy can deepen your awareness—which could mean welcoming back parts that you feel disconnected from, discovering new thoughts or ideas, or working with feelings that don’t seem to fit easily in your day-to-day life. As a result, you’ll start to better understand the unique factors that influence your relationships and behaviors: your strengths, values, intuition, and emotions. With new perspectives, you can prepare to live with greater authenticity.

Self Esteem Therapists
Self-esteem lives on a spectrum: Not enough self-regard (or low self esteem) can lead people to become depressed, or to tolerate abusive situations and relationships. Too much self-love (or high self-esteem), results in an off-putting sense of entitlement and an inability to learn from failure. And it's occasionally a sign of clinical narcissism. Quite the opposite of being shy or shyness, yet still on the same spectrum.
