Many of the people I work with come to therapy because they are feeling stuck or overwhelmed, seeking relief from
anxiety
or depression, needing support as they adjust to a change in their life, or wanting to develop a better understanding of themselves. While we don’t have control over some circumstances in life, we can work to optimally navigate what comes our way. My goal is to create a non-judgmental and supportive space for exploration and change and to help my clients improve their sense of well-being.

People usually come to therapy because they want to feel better.
Anxiety
, depression, trauma, relationship problems, substance abuse/addiction, losing a loved one, work difficulties (to name a few) and life in general, can be very challenging and overwhelming at times. It is important to seek medical assistance for physical problems when we are not well; therefore, it is also just as important to seek emotional/mental assistance when needed. People who are willing to work on their issues by discovering, uncovering, and discarding what is not serving them emotionally and/or mentally, will be able to function better in their lives.

I have specialized training in perinatal issues, including prenatal and postpartum
anxiety
and depression.
My approach to psychotherapy is collaborative, empathic, and oriented toward achieving the results my clients desire. I provide skills to increase awareness of problematic patterns that can lead to feeling stuck. Left unaddressed, these patterns can take a toll on relationships, work, health, and self-worth. My goal is to create a non-judgmental and supportive space for exploration and change and to help people get back to living a more meaningful and enjoyable life. In addition, I emphasize a "strength-based" approach, in which I help clients identify and build from strengths and other positive qualities they already have.

My style of therapy is warm, attentive, & engaged. I believe we all need to be heard, understood & truly seen for who we are; for this is where a sense of self-trust can deepen & self-esteem can strengthen. One of my goals is to help you feel less burdened & less alone in your struggles and also provide coping strategies when you are feeling overwhelmed. I honor the uniqueness of each individual & work in a way that meets your current needs (whether you are moving through a crisis situation, having relationship issues, needing help managing

Using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), along with skills from Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and mindfulness, I help my clients identify and change ways of thinking and coping that may be impacting their mental health. This approach includes teaching coping skills that will target specific symptoms and triggers as well as learning to cope with or resolve intense emotional pain. I use this approach to treat complicated grief, trauma,
panic
, and related
anxiety
or depression.

As a therapist, I believe in healing as a community and working with Black, Indigenous, and Women of Color (BIPOC) to help address the impact depression,
anxiety
, and trauma have had on our lives. We are all deserving of being heard and valued, and to live a fulfilling life. Yet, somewhere in history, in society, in our families, and within ourselves, a different narrative may have been created—a narrative that’s prevented us from recognizing our worth.

For 20 years, I've worked with adults who have experienced
anxiety
, depression, stress, low self-esteem, and low self-worth. My clients tell me that I have a calming presence, and that I'm easy to talk to. There is always a different way to look at things, and I offer a hopeful, positive, and realistic outlook. I work together with my clients to create a space for further self-exploration, self-love, and healing. I believe that we want to be loved, accepted, respected, feel listened to and understood. I am non-judgmental and accepting when someone feels safe enough to share their story or experiences with me.

I have been practicing for 13 years with a bulk of my experience in a medical setting helping people navigate emotional and physical trauma, stressful family/relationship dynamics, adjustment to illness/injury,

Online therapy can help you rise above your social
anxiety
and start moving toward your ideal life, one with less pain and more connection.
Hello, fellow introvert! Do you ever find yourself thinking, “no one likes me!” or “what’s wrong with me?" Does shyness keep you from confidently connecting with friends, romantic partners, and colleagues? Perhaps you know deep down that you'd be happier if you had more authentic relationships, but avoiding people (and therefore rejection) feels, well…safer. If so, you may be struggling with social
anxiety
. You probably feel like you never received the "How to Not Be an Awkward Human" manual. Well, good news - we've helped hundreds of shy individuals like you build confidence and develop deep, meaningful relationships.

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?
Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.
How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?
The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.
When should I seek treatment for anxiety?
Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.
How effective is treatment for anxiety?
Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
